  2. If you're feeling very flush for time there's a supercut out there that replays the part where Sam says that if he takes one more step it's the furthest away from home he's ever been every time he takes a step on screen. It makes the film around 10 hours or something!

  3. I’m so excited to watch this with you guys! All I could think of by the end of this was how you guys HAVE to cosplay as Galadriel and Arwen!!

  4. Those statues in the forest when Frodo is injured are actually the trolls from Bilbos story he was telling the kids at the party in the beginning.

  5. Wow, that was amazing. Its always cool to see it through fresh eyes again. Cant wait for Part 2 and 3. Thank you very much !!!

  6. It is true. Sam does represent what friendship truly means. After all, we cannot give that title of "Friend" to just anyone. In my opinion, instead of everyone expressing that need for a "Sam" in their lives. Perhaps we should aspire to be more like Samwise Gamgee. We forget that most solemn and honored gift in an age where we no longer assess integrity and character. How many of us can honestly say that if we couldn't swim, we would still cross a deep and wide river to make sure a friend wasn't alone on a journey across landscapes fraught with danger.

  7. I am a disappointed with how you guys are not watching some of the shots.. like how they pivoted from the butterfly down to the ground they dug… not really paying attention .. just guessing and guessing.. take a break and watch the movie.. jeez

  8. I am so excited that the Shejects are diving into my favorite fantasy world! The two of you are the best reacts on the channel. Keep kicking ass!

  9. I think all the characters are male bc Tolkien wrote LOTR inspired by his experience with WWI and his fellow soldiers and Peter Jackson added Arwen for the scene with rescuing Frodo bc that og character was a male elf. He even was like we need a woman 😭. I think you’ll like The Two Towers a lot without giving away spoilers

  10. Spoiler free commentary:

There were originally five wizards in Middle Earth: Saruman the White, the leader of the Wizards, Gandalf the Grey, Radagast the Brown, and Alatar and Pallando the Blue Wizards. In the writings of Tolkien, Alatar and Pallando journeyed to the east and south on their missions and vanished from the stories altogether thereafter. Saruman and Gandalf we know, but though Radagast stayed in the west he was distracted fully by the natural world, retreating from the world of the free folk and wizards and being an extremely reclusive hermit whose focus was on the plants and animals of Middle Earth. It has been suggested by many, including me, that when Gandalf captured the moth when imprisoned at the top of Isengard that he gave the moth a message to take to Radagast and, upon receiving Gandalf's call for aid, Radagast sent the moth back with a giant eagle to allow Gandalf to escape.

Saruman was the wisest and noblest of the Wizards, which is why he was their leader. Unfortunately he came into possession of a Palantir, or seeing stone, as we saw in the scene in his tower. The Palantiri had been corrupted by Sauron and allowed him to subtly exert his will over those who used them too often. Saruman used the seeing stone to try to spy on Sauron, but Sauron only showed Saruman what Sauron wanted him to see, and by influencing his mind drove him insane to where he willingly converted to Sauron's side. Which is hinted at in Gandalf's accusatory line asking when Saruman the wise abandoned reason for madness. Saruman didn't choose to be evil, he was driven to it. Which is even more frightening, that Sauron can corrupt someone so overwhelmingly powerful as Saruman.

The death of Gandalf the Grey fighting the Balrog was a devastating moment for the Fellowship. Boromir's death, while equally tragic, was one that showed the problems with being near the ring. That sundered the Fellowship, sending Frodo (and Sam, originally against Frodo's wishes) along one path while the others took different paths, some willingly, some not so much. Of course the awesome Aragorn could resist the ring, because he's awesome.

Sam really is the best. The usual thought is that everyone needs a friend like Sam. But we also need to be a friend like Sam. 🙂
