cozy daily reading vlog The daily life of a book lover Day 1 I stopped by a bookstore while I was out buying gifts and snuck in to buy a new book at a bookstore that had a collaborative book cover. Go home, have lunch and read a book. I got home, ate dinner, and now I’m going to read Fukawatari Ryo’s essay. Comedians’ essays are always interesting, aren’t they? Or rather, their outlook on life, or way of thinking, is great. I also have to read Timon-D’s Maeda Yuta’s essay. It’s not that I have it piled up, I’m in the middle of it. I read essays in small chunks, so I have a lot of things I’ve started reading, but I’ve read up to a good point, so I’ll manage my schedule. I’ve set YouTube for Mondays, so if I don’t manage my schedule, I get anxious, and if I don’t do it ahead of time, I’ll get a sudden appointment and panic. I’ve always lived on the edge, so I’ve never really done schedules or tasks, but now I feel anxious if I don’t. I want to read a little more, so I’m going to read “The Dollhouse Murders.” As I’m reading, I can see why the “house series” is so popular. Once I start reading, I can’t stop, lol. Day 2 It’s been about 10 years since my last visit to the zoo! It was a weekday afternoon, but there was a line waiting for the parking lot in front, so we decided to park in the parking lot in the north zoo and make a circuit from there, despite my daughter’s suggestion. We started with the Komodo Dragon. Nicknamed the “living dinosaur,” it preys on even larger animals, making it the top of the food chain! It’s the only place in Japan where you can see them. After looking around, we headed to my favorite kangaroo zone! This was my first time here since the zoo was renovated, and there were wallabies there too! There they were! Super cute! ❤︎ And my beloved kangaroos . So cute! They weren’t even sleeping! lol Isn’t this a bonus shot?! We were even more welcomed (not really) and a baby showed up! And then we got a double facial! That’s divine! ✨ I’d love to spend the whole day with the kangaroos, but we decided to take a break and have some koala ice cream! The chocolate was rich and delicious. 🍨 I think I’ve only climbed Higashiyama Tower once. Next up: The excitement in Nagoya when koalas first arrived in Japan was incredible! I’ve ridden that ride many times! 🦢 When I was a kid and my daughter was a kid, we always had to stop by the shop lol. The only kangaroo goods I found there were some polar bears playing with a tube that must have contained food. As closing time approached, I was captivated by the sight. I don’t remember seeing polar bears moving around much. I usually just lie down at the top of the exhibit, looking down at the humans. Thank you for showing me such an active figure! I’ll definitely come again! Higashiyama Zoo has changed a lot in the 10 years since we last visited, and they ‘re still in the process of renovating new breeding facilities and exhibits. We had a great time , learning through our own experience that snow leopards are part of the feline family, learning that many animals are on the endangered species red list, and reconsidering the significance of zoos. There was n’t enough time, and some people were just reading books. I’ll have to buy an annual pass! Day 3 : It’s a long weekend, but my family is doing business as usual. I’m also doing my usual thing, finishing up my things and reading. My cover is made of Milk soap, and my bookmark is an umbrella. I’ve also added a kangaroo 🦘 that I bought at the convenience store yesterday. Both are Schleich figures, and the one I’ve had for a long time is quite old. I’m going to read “The Watchmaker’s Adventure: Alibi Destruction Accepted 2” by Seiichiro Oyama. I read the first volume at the end of last year and had been planning to read the second volume as soon as it was released in paperback, so I’ve been looking forward to its release. The alibi is more complicated than the first, so I think I prefer the second volume. Day 4 : Good morning. This week is forecast to be cloudy and rainy , and the weather is gloomy, but there are no major changes to my plans, so I’m just continuing to move forward day by day . Today, I’m going to edit, read, and quietly move forward. My companions on this day are Fujiya’s Heart Peanuts, which I’ve always loved. I also received and opened a bunch of gadgets I bought on Amazon sale. One of them is this nostalgic-shaped Apple Watch charging stand. The first PC I bought was this iMac in Bondi Blue. So cute 🩵 Reading TimeThis week’s third book is “The Case Files of Architect Detective Kamumukae Kei” by Sakuragawa Hiro. I wonder if Sakuragawa Hiro will become a light novel or light literature author. I remembered reading the light mystery “The Case Files of Codebreaker Kujo Kiriya” and finding it interesting, so I bought it. It’s a Kobunsha character paperback, but depending on the label, it seems like you can only find it in large bookstores, but maybe I just haven’t noticed it yet? Night routineAll that’s left is sleep. Reading at the end of the day. I can concentrate better with sound than silence, so the sounds of everyday life on my VLOG are a soothing background music . And then Latte suddenly barges in? This guy is so cute🐰Oh , I’ve started reading “The Mystery of the Brazilian Butterfly”🦋 Good night🌙 Day 5I took a trip to Kusamura Books for the first time in a while . I wonder how many years it’s been since I last came here? ? First, I went to see the solo exhibition that was being held that day. In the past, photography and social media were prohibited, but now many places are open. It’s great to have a solo exhibition in a small space like this in our daily lives. I was so confused about this original painting that I couldn’t decide anymore and left it behind, which I now regret. This place isn’t all a bookstore, and it has an interesting layout. There has always been a substantial picture book section and children’s book section. I found a bookmark by Gomi Taro! It has the famous “The Goldfish Has Run Away” and “The Yellow One is a Butterfly”! I bought two new paperbacks, a book jacket and a book marker. Lunch: I had tortillas at a Korean food stall called Harenohi Chicken. Reading time: I basically love being at home, so if I don’t make a conscious effort to go out, I tend to stay cooped up. But the place where I can concentrate isn’t at home, it’s outside and it can get a little noisy. I’d love to do a home reading camp, but it’s quite difficult. I live with a family, so I do housework, etc. lol. But I don’t feel like I can concentrate on reading at home all day lol. I wanted a latte, so I went out, but for some reason I ordered a matcha latte lol . That’s right! I assumed it was a long novel, but “The Mystery of the Brazilian Butterfly” is a collection of short stories! I was reading Alice series recently, and several of the books were full-length, so I made the mistake of thinking that I read both short stories and full-length novels, so it doesn’t matter to me, but assumptions are really scary. It’s fine to make such trivial assumptions, but I want to be careful of basic assumptions and mistakes . In times like these, I want to always keep my eyes on my feet and move forward (what’s this all of a sudden… nothing in particular) Return home This week’s 1 book This week’s 1 book This week’s book is “End-of-life activities addiction” by Akiyoshi Rikako, which was released in paperback in June of this year, and is a work I’ve been waiting for to be released in paperback. Even though they are called “end-of-life activities,” each one is different for each person, and it’s a very varied collection of four stories. Aoki’s words on the back cover accurately describe it. It’s a collection of four short stories, and each one was interesting and twisted. I don’t think it’s a series, but there is a work called “Marriage Hunting Addiction,” which was released in paperback in 2020. I originally found “Marriage Hunting Addiction” interesting and liked it. This is also a collection of four short stories, and as I recall, each one is “Shukatsu Addiction” is a type of mystery novel that is either unpleasant or close to unpleasant, but leaves a rough feeling after reading it. When “Shukatsu Addiction” was released in book form, I browsed through it and the first story was an unpleasant mystery , which I thought was really interesting, but I wasn’t in the mood for unpleasant mysteries at the time, so I skipped it. However, I don’t dislike it and I know it’s interesting, so I bought it and read it this time. Unlike “Konkatsu Addiction,” there is only one unpleasant mystery. The rest are far from unpleasant, and far from being unpleasant, they are actually moving and surprising, and more interesting than I expected. If you don’t dislike unpleasant mysteries, I recommend “Konkatsu Addiction.” Introduction to purchased books Introduction to purchased books Here are the six books I bought this week! I don’t remember buying any of these this week, lol 01 J Mystery FALL 2025 The first book was an anthology from Kobunsha Bunko, and J Mystery FALL 2025, an anthology published twice a year, has become a staple. When I found Nakayama Shichiri’s name, I almost jumped for joy (self-censorship). No matter what kind of short story it was, I just glanced at it in the bookstore, lol Fans! It was that unexpected one, wasn’t it! I thought my eyes would pop out of my head , but I’ve been putting it off for a long time, and since I’ve been putting it off since last spring, I’m not sure where to start. It’s not a series, so it doesn’t matter where I start, but that’s a personal issue, lol.02 The Last Surgeon: A Request for Lifesaving from Paradise by Nakayama YujiroThe second book is Nakayama Yujiro’s “The Last Surgeon: A Request for Lifesaving from Paradise.” This is my first solo work by Nakayama Yujiro, and I’ve read a short story in an anthology. The line on the cover, “Don’t Cry, Intern,” gave me the impression that he was a famous physician-author.This new work is like a modern version of Black Jack.A genius surgeon without a medical license saves patients with his colleagues by paying exorbitant medical fees.I haven’t read Black Jack yet, so I only know the basic plot, but I was intrigued by this entertaining novel about the strongest team of outlaw doctors, so I bought it.I finished reading it the same day I bought it! 03 I have to do something. Aoun Hen/Onda RikuMy third book is Onda Riku’s “I have to do something. Aoun Hen.” It’s been a while since I bought this paperback version of Onda Riku. The binding has changed completely since the hardcover version and the atmosphere is completely different.Onda Riku writes a wide range of novels so I choose which ones I read.I’m not good at horror or sci-fi so I try to avoid those.I glanced at it and thought it looked interesting so I bought it, which was unexpected.I’ve been reading a lot recently so I feel like I’m letting my guard down hahaI’ve been in the mood for mysteries so I’m not sure if I’ll read it right away but I’ll keep it in my collection! 04 Biotope of a 17-Year-Old by Shimizu Haruki My fourth book is “Biotope of a 17-Year-Old” by Shimizu Haruki. I’ve been interested in it since it was published as a hardcover, and I’ve stopped seeing it in stores, so I’ve been meaning to read it when it comes out in paperback. It’s a work that has been adapted into a film and a stage reading drama, and the stage version was performed this month. I’ve read “Branch Station Mahoroshi,” and I’ve heard that the author is a soft-spoken writer , and it’s a work that depicts memory, the future, and hope, so it might be good for “Book Santa.” The last two books are the ones I bought as planned. 05 Shonan Mobile Crime Unit Asahina Koyuki – The Curse of the Black Cave by Narukami Kyoichi My fifth book is “Shonan Mobile Crime Unit Asahina Koyuki – The Curse of the Black Cave” by Narukami Kyoichi. 英語: For my sixth book, I bought Higashino Keigo ‘s official guidebook. I don’t have the previous official guidebook so I thought it would be good to review his works. Of course, there are many of Higashino Keigo’s works , but many of them have been adapted into films or TV dramas, and even if they haven’t been adapted into films , many of them have become popular and I only know the titles, so I think I’ve “read” them but haven’t actually read them . I’m looking forward to seeing the order of the popularity poll , which is the result of a national referendum, and reading my own commentaries as I read as many of my unread works. Next , I’ll introduce some reading goods I bought the other day. Let’s start with book covers! I saw “washable paper book covers” from the “ONE ECO Project” featuring popular picture book and anime characters, so I bought my favorite Nontan design! There was also a City Hunter combo featuring Ryo Saeba and Kaori! I’m particular about book covers, or rather, I absolutely cannot compromise on one thing: if the insert is too thick, the book will warp, so I don’t like thick cloth or leather covers, so I don’t buy them. I also bought two bookmarks. Both are cut-outs from works by my favorite picture book author, Gomi Taro. Both are works my daughter loves and has read many times, and they hold a special place in my heart. “The Goldfish That Ran Away” and “The Yellow One is a Butterfly” are works I loved as a child, more than my daughter. I think I’ll buy more bookmarks by Gomi Taro. This is what the six books I bought this week turned out to be. Were there any that caught your eye or that you purchased? Lately I’ve been reading a lot of mysteries, but I buy any books I want to read, not just mysteries, and keep them stacked so I can read them whenever I want. I started reading “The Last Surgeon” as soon as I got home and read it all in one go. It hasn’t even been made into a video yet lol. I’m debating whether to start with 2024 Spring or read this one, but next week I’m planning a shopping spree with a friend at a large bookstore, so I’ll read it before then! Thanks for watching Hype 🌈Thank you for your support!
