Frenchman Reacts To Girls On The Roof Minayo Watanabe/渡辺 美奈代

Hello and welcome to my reaction some more. We’re back. I guess I missed that one. Uh this is Girls on the Roof. Okay, interesting title. Uh from the singles collection released in 2007, but the song is from 87 composer Satosha. Girls on the roof. Can’t really guess what this one will be like just from the title. I mean, as always, I assume it’s related to romance, but I don’t see the connection. Girls on the roof. I really don’t know. So, let’s listen to the song and see what it’s like. Uh link for the original video in the description, the link to wet and channel, my discord if you want to follow me, my stream on Patreon where you can support me, request reaction, and as always, thank you for the Patreon support. Let’s go. Oh, starting like a PG song. [Music] Such a cute voice. His voice. [Music] All right, that’s pretty good. [Music] That’s a great minute dish. [Music] This song really feels different. I mean, right here, you can tell me this is totally like a an RPG uh song. I mean, it really feels like it reminds me of the Trails game, Trails in the Sky and and all that. um very much that kind of a a video game music which is not exactly the first time that style I feel like has been combined with some idol songs that we’ve heard. I think there was maybe another tooth. Um do of course I can’t remember the names but it’s still very unusual and yet it kind of works. I mean you know the very cute and um like nothing to care you know kind of vocals like not a care in the world kind of vocals. I think they really fit because this kind of song just feels like, you know, you’re adventuring in a in a world or something and, you know, it’s all like discovery and and fun and all that. So, it kind of works with a voice like that that is so again so what’s the word for it? Fish maybe. Yeah. Yeah, it really works. [Music] You need [Music] Don’t. [Music] Maybe another favorite. [Music] I really like that way to go into the chorus like uh uh uh girls on the roof like the I don’t know there’s some like um character to that. It’s pretty fun to listen to. [Music] Sound the roof. [Music] This melody perfect makes me think of Ludus. the senish old classic uh Dungeon and Dragon inspired anime light novel manga too. Yeah, this is great. This is great. It’s not like the world song feels um you know that energy of of the RPG, but there’s definitely some part that are very much that. Yeah, very much that. So unexpected, but it really works. It really works. It obviously makes me think like as this uh composer Kyoko Endo actually works on JPG. Very possible I would say with the style. Yeah, very possible. It’s some great music. It’s really some great music and uh Metab’s voice is quite enjoyable as always like a pleasure to listen to. It’s a good combo. Yeah, actually you could look up look it up real quick. Uh let’s see. [Music] Japanese singer, songwriter, radio show host. Oh, she Okay. She actress and former idol before 98. She used the spelling. Okay. Um albums, singles. H there’s not too much detail. Okay. She has a lot of albums though. Okay. Fair enough. So, an idol writing idol song for another idol. Interesting. Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the reaction. As always, like, subscribe, comment. I’ll see you guys next time. Sees you.

  1. This sounds like a anime song from the 90s. Probably Wedding Peach or Poupée de cire, poupée de son by France Gall.

  2. "Girls on the Roof" was Minayo Watanabe's sixth single, released on November 18, 1987, by CBS Sony. 😊

This was her first single since the disbandment of Onyanko Club, and featured a completely new lineup of writers.
It debuted at No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart on November 30, 1987, ending her streak of five consecutive No. 1 debuts since her debut. The difference in sales between this single and Yukari Morikawa's "SHOW ME," which held the number one spot at the time, was approximately 3,500 copies. Since then, she has released 12 singles, but none have ranked highly on the Oricon charts. 😣

Although this was the first time total sales fell below 100,000 since her debut, her 10 weeks on the Oricon charts was a record, surpassing the nine weeks previously held by "Hitomi ni Yakusoku."

The song's similarities to the famous French pop song "Dreaming Chanson Doll" have been pointed out. While the tempo is different, the chord progression in the chorus is strikingly similar. 😵

The lyrics were changed during recording. However, the original lyrics were accidentally sung on a music program, and the staff scolded him for not sung the subtitles. 😅

Lyricist and composer Kyoko Endo also released "Hashire Hashire (Run Run)," the ending theme for the 1999 TV Tokyo anime "Earth Defense Enterprise Dai-Guard," arranged by Yoko Kanno. 🤗

Kyoko Endo began collaborating with Yoko Kanno on the 1992 song "Inori (Prayer)," and other songs arranged by Yoko Kanno include "Suashi no Mamade (Just barefoot)" (1992),
"Koi o Shirihajimetakara (Because I Started to Know Love)" (1992), "Koibito ni Naritai (I Want to Be Your Lover)" (1992), "27sai no Seishun (Youth at 27)" (1993), "Daisuki na Tomodachi (My Favorite Friend)" (1993), "Shiroi Sneakers (White Sneakers)" (1993), and "Sukito Iwanai houga-ii ( It's Better Not to Say You Like It)" (1995).😆
