cozy daily reading vlog The daily life of a book lover One Day It’s still hot and humid, but how’s everyone doing? Today I’m planning to go to my favorite bookstore and book cafe for the first time in a while ! Junkudo Bookstore! I think I like this one more than the Nagoya store . It’s been a while since the summer fair, and the paperback posters were amazing! I was so happy to see a book I was looking for, or rather, a book I thought I’d buy, displayed in this order! I had to take it home! I also happened to see a book I was looking for before, so I thought, “What a coincidence!” And then, after a few other things, I ended up like this, haha. As I moved to the Chunichi Building, I was greeted by a cool wind chime and goldfish illustration . The escalator was decorated with a goldfish design, which was really refreshing. And then, I headed to my familiar bookstore and book cafe, Bunkitsu. Today, I came more for the book cafe than the bookstore. However, I’m interested in the limited-time event and this “Bunkitsu Personal Selection” so I’m checking them out . There were five types on offer that day, I think. I’m interested, but I haven’t had the courage to buy them. I see a lot of secret books, but have you ever bought one? This month, they’re running a 20% off admission fee campaign, so while I’ve only ever used Bunkitsu to visit the bookstore, I decided to give it a try today since I had some free time! You pay later, and as long as you wear this tag around your neck, you can sit anywhere. The cold drinks are shown here, but they’re not pictured, so I started with a lemonade. You can read or buy books in the area, but I chose “The Sales Techniques of a Hitman” by Nomiya Yu, which I brought with me. I’m not good at reading books while eating and drinking, and I have a mountain of books I’ve bought to read (lol), so I brought mine with me. For my second drink, I had iced coffee with milk! You could choose from soy milk, and they had both iced coffee and decaf. I added milk because summer iced coffee can be quite sour, but the beans were quite mild, so I’ll drink it straight next time! (I’m not a big fan of sourness.) The hour flew by! I might want to stay here all day! another dayI have some shopping and banking to do, so I head to the SC where I can do it all at once . Now that I’ve finished everything, I’ll have some time to read before going home☕️Today I’m reading Yamaguchi Mio’s “The White Demon’s Cage,” her second medical mystery following her debut work, which won the Ayukawa Tetsuya Prize. It ‘s about a practicing doctor, so the events that take place inside the hospital are realistic and vivid. It forms part of the series with the previous work, but it’s fine to start reading this one first.Even though I’m told it’s fine, there are connections, so this is really okay. This time it’s a closed-circle story, and I tend to be a little claustrophobic, so I’m a little worried about that as much as the realistic expressiveness is what makes it so appealing. From the beginning, or rather, from the very beginning of the story, I was really drawn in and it’s interesting, and above all, the writing is easy to read and has a lot of momentum, so I just kept reading.I read until I got to a good stopping point and then went straight home… for no reason, of course I’ll stop here on the way homenext dayToday , three generations of a family went out to eat some delicious food📍Bincho HitsumabushiAn eel restaurant that my daughter recommended to me and said was delicious! There was a bit of a queue, so we decided on the menu while we waited. We were happy to be seated with a great view. First, we had eel rolls! I love them! The eggs were fluffy and delicious! I had “Hitsumabushi” for the first time in a while! This eel dish is said to have originated at “Atsuta Horaiken” at Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya. First, we ate it as is! Next, we added condiments and ate it together. Finally, we had it as ochazuke (rice with tea), but I forgot to take a picture! It was delicious! Next, we had another famous sweet originating from the Tokai region! 📍Akafuku Chaya This is Akafuku Chaya, where you can eat Akafuku mochi, which originated in Ise . We came to try the “Akafuku Koori” (ice cream ice), which is only available in summer! This is it! It’s a summer tradition that I have to eat at least once a year. It has a clean, smooth texture and is delicious. As the name “Akafuku Ice” suggests, as you eat it, you’ll discover Akafuku mochi. It’s not actually Akafuku itself, but rather a mixture of koshian (sweet bean paste) and mochi (rice cakes) that blends well with the cold ice. It’s the ultimate cooling treat that you can only enjoy here in this season. That night, after I got home, I finished my housework, continued editing, and now it’s time for reading. My evening companion is not matcha, but green juice, which is easy to drink and keeps me going. I tidied up my desk a little and found Atsushi Shimomura’s “Green Window: Resolving Tree Troubles.” This is a book I bought the other day, and I’ll mention it later in my book purchase introductions. I’ve been looking for this book for a long time, and it’s been on my list because I’ve never found it. But when I came across it by chance, I hesitated, and then I bought it, thinking, “I don’t know when I’ll come across it again, so I bought it.” I think it’s better to read books like that without letting them pile up, so I’ll read them right away. There are so many books I really want to read, and I’m struggling with my limited time and myself. It’s probably best to read what you want to read at the time, so I’ll just follow my instincts . I’d like to introduce four books I bought last week that I didn’t have time to introduce, as well as two hardbacks and five paperbacks I bought this week. Have you heard of the “National Local Souvenir Book Covers”? They are limited edition book covers designed with souvenirs from all over the country, and when you purchase a paperback at a participating bookstore, you can get a souvenir book cover. Since you can get one from the area you live in, I chose from the Tokai/Kinki block. First, I chose this “Shachi Monaka,” but people choose souvenirs as gifts, but I don’t eat them, and to be honest, I’m not very familiar with them, so I’m more used to seeing things from other prefectures . The other one I chose was “Kaeru Manju”! This book is famous for its TV commercial, and I really think it would be more memorable to receive it as a souvenir. Also, some bookstores in Tokyo are distributing book covers of all blocks on a weekly basis. 01 Letter/Higashino Keigo I bought some Higashino Keigo works that I thought I had read but hadn’t. However, it’s not uncommon for me to read these kinds of books and then forget about them. It was recommended to me by Seo Maiko on YouTube, and it came at a time when I thought I needed to replenish my backlog of unread books that had been reduced during the Higashino Keigo Festival. It has a double cover (isn’t this a high obi?), and this is the original binding. 📨 I prefer this one, but what do you think? : My friend is a book lover who buys books for their cover design, and he especially won’t buy the illustrated cover designs that have become popular in recent years , so like with anything, it’s difficult for everyone to accept it. I recently learned that just as there are people who buy because of the cover, there are also people who don’t buy because of the cover . 02 The Beauty Salon Behind Bars/Sakurai Mina I found out about this work through a post by a reading account and it’s something I’ve been wanting to read for a long time. This one has a high cover rather than a double cover (I’m happy because I like Nao). It’s a novel based on a real beauty salon that operates inside a prison . Speaking of Sakurai Mina, I think her other work, “The Husband I Murdered Has Returned,” is also famous. The title is so impactful that it filled up my timeline for a while. The original cover was like this and it made such a strong impression on me that I removed the drama cover and checked the cover before purchasing it. 03 Early This Morning/Tsujido Yume The title and cover design are just too good! I had been interested in it since before it was released, and when I read it briefly at the bookstore as soon as it was released, I was so captivated that I thought it was a dangerous read and put it aside for a while. But those kinds of things stay in your mind forever and you can’t do anything about it, so I bought it regardless of whether I could read it right away. I think I’ll fall into a depression if I’m not in a really good mood. It’s a short story, but I skimmed through the first one when I first read it. 英語: I wonder if the day will come when I can read this? But I really want to read it, it’s a work commemorating the 10th anniversary of Tsujido Yume’s debut, so I really want to read it. 04. The Appraiser of Memories/Iwai KeiyaThis is the third in the series of “The Last Appraiser,” which was made into a TV drama. When I read the first volume, I loved it so much that I was saving the second volume for later, and then I found out that the third volume was coming out, so I’m starting to read it now. I haven’t seen the drama, but listening to Iwai Keiya’s stories, I realize that many of the stories from the first to the third volumes were the basis for the drama. My family doesn’t watch dramas, so lately I’ve been reading books and haven’t been able to watch any dramas at all. These four works above are the books I bought last week, and although they’re all wonderfully mysteries, “The Beauty Salon Behind Bars” and “Early Morning Today” have a slightly different feel to them. Next are the books I bought from Junkudo, and the book cover they have is a limited collaboration book cover, which is cute and got me excited. I like Junkudo’s regular covers, but these kinds of things are nice sometimes. I wondered what the collaboration was, and it turned out to be a Mitsubishi FUJ investment trust! So , first up is the first book, which I was blown away by in the display. 05 Distorted Comedy Novels/Higashino Keigo It’s one of the funny series and I was planning to buy it when I came across it this time. The other day I read “Dark Comedy Novels” and by chance I found out it was connected to “Masquerade Life”, and it seems that “Distorted Comedy Novels” also has that connection, so I thought I might read this one in the series next and decided to put it away. It was the first time I’d seen it displayed next to the Masquerade series in a bookstore, and then I found this promotional newspaper next to the register! It even had the words “Related Books!?” written on it and introduced it!! This is quite interesting, and I wish this kind of promotional material was available in regular bookstores. Of course, I read it, but I think this kind of enjoyment is also a part of reading. However, it’s difficult because it also has a big aspect of appealing to family members. 06. The House Where I Died / Higashino Keigo Another work by Higashino Keigo, “The House Where I Died” This one has a high obi, but if the atmosphere is so different from the original binding, it will probably be a matter of whether you like it or not, just like with “The Letter” I mentioned earlier . Also, there is a chance that people will mistake it for an unread book and buy it. The original binding is here, but a new edition will be published on September 12th. I’m familiar with this binding and wanted this one, so I bought it. Also, the price of the new edition is 110 yen more expensive. 07. Green Window / Shimomura Atsushi I’d been looking for it for ages, but couldn’t find it when I was looking, but I found it by chance. It’s a soft mystery written by Shimomura Atsushi, who writes hardcore mysteries. I was looking for it because I wanted to read it, and when I happened to look up at the shelf and my eyes met it, I froze for a moment and thought, “Huh? Isn’t it this? It’s there!” I froze for a moment and then thought, “Huh? Isn’t it this? It’s there!” I wanted to read it right away, so I read it on the train home, so now I’m reading more books at the same time.08 Mittens and Pity / Yoshimoto Banana Yoshimoto Banana’s books have always been there for me in my youth. Recently, when I see young people reading them, I want to read them again, and I was thinking about buying them, and then I saw Ryo Asai praising him on YouTube’s “Publishing District,” and I wanted to read it too. Ryo Asai’s “I Want You to Stay Forever on Your Bookshelf” really hit home. I should have read “Hello Shimokitazawa,” which I bought at “B&B” in Shimokitazawa. I shouldn’t have thrown away the hardbacks I had, like “Kitchen” and “TUGUMI.” 09 In the Megachurch/Asai RyoAnd Asai Ryo’s new book, “In the Megachurch.” I was hesitant to buy it because I have “Right Desire” and “Reproduction Chronicle” piled up in hardback, but since it’s a work commemorating the 15th anniversary of his career as a writer, I’ll buy it as a congratulatory gift.Oh , Nakayama Shichiri is also celebrating his 15th anniversary, so we’re in the same year! の正体 とは本当に本当にありがとうございました! English: In an age where the term “oshikatsu” has taken hold and taken on a life of its own, here are the perspectives of those who create the ” oshikatsu” economy , those who are obsessed with oshikatsu, and those who have graduated from it. There have always been people who are called collectors and some who are called otaku, but this has a different worldview and is addictive.10 The Queen’s Midnight Snack Cafe Makan Maran Returns/Furuuchi Kazue I only have the first volume, but it’s being released in paperback this year to mark the 10th anniversary, but I wanted to have it in hardback so I bought it at this timing. Of course I plan to buy the third and fourth volumes as well, but for now I’ll stick with the second volume . For me, this is the first, last and strongest heartwarming kitchen series, so this is probably the book I want to keep on my bookshelf in hardback . With books like this, it’s not like you’ve read them once and then are done, or that you have to read them, but it’s fine as long as you can reach for it whenever you need it.11 After Silence/Honda Takayoshi I bought this book when I happened to stop by Miraiya Bookstore. I happened to see it and picked it up, so I decided to give it a read. Is Honda Takayoshi the same Honda Takayoshi? I picked it up thinking that, but for some reason I had “FINE DAYS” at home and I can’t remember if it was my younger brother who bought it or me, but the book was at home and I remember the name on it.Anyway , this one is also half-read so I’m going to read it in order.September is the start of my buying spree, but I’m looking forward to reading them as I go along. Thanks for watching Hype🌈⭐️Thank you for your support!
