Finally arrived! This is the story of when free-diving fisherman Masaru challenged a 10-day survival Will Masaru be able to conquer this cliff environment!? The 10-day survival is finally starting, man I’m incredibly excited I haven’t had much excitement lately so I’m really looking forward to this I think we should be able to see the ocean soon This is our survival location Whoa, I can see it! We’ll be doing it here Let’s go down to the ocean for now I made it 10 days because humans can generally survive 3 days without water and 7 days without food so I thought let’s make it 10 days I don’t want to do it in a state where I know I can survive I want to really push the limits, you know As for the rules No food! No water! No fire! I’ll use a saw and stuff but absolutely nothing food-related I’ll try to survive for 10 days Alright, I already found something that’s not food but something poisonous This is it If you pull this out, a potato comes out There’s a potato here but it’s called “inedible potato” and it’s poisonous, so if you eat it you’ll suffer for 10 days This is not edible Since I want to enjoy pushing the limits this time I’m thinking of going without diving for the first 5 days I’ll unlock the wetsuit from day 6 and go from there Alright, we’ve arrived The ocean is incredibly rough – I said I wouldn’t go in, but I can’t anyway We’ve finally arrived and the survival starts on November 3rd at 10:10 AM – let’s do the countdown Alright, it’s about to start Starting at 10:10 AM I’ll drink some water while I can It’ll be against the rules otherwise Wow, this is my last water One more minute – it’s started Let’s do this Alright, let’s go check the surroundings for now You never know what might be around I’m hoping there might be a river somewhere There are traces of water flowing in places like this but they’re completely dried up Let’s look for something that can become water The temperature this day was 32 degrees I determined that securing water was the top priority Also, we need to start looking for a base location. For now, as long as we have water, we can’t survive 10 days, but we can survive 5 days. So we’ll start with finding water and a base. On TV shows, they often travel incredible distances at first or move to the next island, which happens a lot, but I think you absolutely shouldn’t do that. You should definitely conserve your energy. Let’s just decide on here! This place is fine. Hey, isn’t this perfect? I think it’s perfect. This side and that side are protected from the wind, and if we build a wall here, it’ll basically be a house. Let’s go with this place. I feel like I chose it pretty randomly, but there’s a tropical depression forming and it’s really windy, so we need a place where the wind won’t hit us as much. Also, the ocean is really close, so we need to be at a fairly high place, otherwise we might get swept away during high tide. So I chose this spot. But the ground is full of pebbles, so if someone told me to sleep here, it would be pretty tough. I think we’ll need to lay down grass or something. Anyway, now that we’ve decided on our base, let’s go look for water. Water… wait a minute. I was thinking of setting up here, but this might not work. Look at this. There are traces of water flowing heavily right here. This is bad. If it rains, water will come rushing through with tremendous force, so if we had built our base here, we probably would have been flooded. That was close. Let’s not do that. Though there aren’t really any high places around here. Let’s keep looking for now. Over there seems like there might be some good spots too, but I wonder… it seems like water would flow wherever we build. Seriously, there’s no sign of water anywhere. Is this okay? There’s no trash here either. This is bad! There’s water! This is probably fresh water. There are tadpoles here. Well, there was fresh water, but we can’t drink it without filtering and boiling it. Well, if there’s a river… I don’t really want to drink water with mosquito larvae like this, so I won’t drink it, but well, it’s there as a last resort Well, there’s probably about 2 liters here, yeah, about a day’s worth Ugh, that’s disgusting. I really hate bugs Let’s go for now It’s quite steep. The coast is a sheer cliff, there’s no sign of water at all, and my strength and moisture are being drained away It’s a cliff. There’s nothing here Oh no, I found some food ingredients This is it This, this is called thistle, and it’s a plant whose roots you can eat For now, I need to find water first, so I won’t take it now, but I might be able to eat it later I found two puddles This one has quite a lot Maybe 15 liters Well, it’s still full of mosquito larvae, but the fact that the larvae are alive means there’s no poison – it’s drinkable Well, but I’ll still make a fire and heat it up I hope there’s a river. I don’t want to drink this We’ve come out to quite an open area There’s water Yeah, probably this is quite a coral reef island, so there are lots of caves inside and the water flows from under the caves It doesn’t flow on the surface There might not be many rivers, seriously might not be any This is bad. I might have to perform a rain-making ritual Oh wow, there’s a really good base here This place is good, might be perfect Look, look, look, there’s a roof Amazing, let’s use this place. There doesn’t seem to be water flowing either But there’s lots of driftwood, so it might get flooded when the waves get strong but I think it’ll probably be okay. I’ll use this place for now. Yes! So then, now that the base is decided from here I’m going to try to survive alone for 10 days First, I can’t wait for water that I can drink without boiling so I’ll start by making a fire I’ve never made a fire before so I researched about 5 different methods I’m hoping I can somehow get a fire going Yes, let’s do this For now, if there’s bamboo I’ll try using bamboo From what I can see, there is some There’s lots of bamboo, found some, found some. There are 3 pieces Alright, let’s do this with these I need to make tinder with this and then transfer the fire to something I’ll shave some bamboo around here and use those shavings like kindling Before that, I need a hearth Let’s arrange some stones and make a simple hearth. What’s this! It’s really simple though Probably the bigger ones have better air circulation If they’re too small, the air won’t flow through properly Alright, well this should be good enough Now let’s make the tinder I’ll use the knife to make it first Making fine pieces It’s only been about 2 hours since starting, but I’m seriously thirsty, this is bad Next, I’m going to make some bigger flammable material Fire needs oxygen to burn The larger the surface area, the easier it burns, so making it smaller than this state will make it more flammable Yes, I’ve gathered quite a lot Now I’ll crush these Then I’ll split this bamboo Ugh, it’s falling apart! Then I’ll put the powder I crushed earlier on top. I wonder if this will work? Then from above I’ll cover it with wood like this Making a hole with the knife, what do you call it Making a place for the charcoal-like stuff to fall And I’ll make a pathway for the wood like this Now I’ll rub from here I wonder if this will work? This is bad, they don’t fit together at all. It’s a failure The bamboo is too rotten Totally useless, it crumbled to pieces The bamboo was too rotten. Let’s go with this one! This isn’t bamboo though It’s not bamboo I don’t know what it is, but I’ll try with this This would be the beginning of hell At this time, I still didn’t know. Well, it’s kind of thick I can smell burning! It’s a really simple task But this is incredibly hard work. After moving it for just a minute, my arms stop working I might not be able to make fire today… Just smoke coming out There’s no sign of fire catching at all My throat is completely dry Let me take a break. I’m tired. Alright, let’s do this! I need to get it lit while I still have energy This is seriously impossible, damn This is really against my will, but I’ll use hemp rope too Fire definitely won’t catch Like this Man, I didn’t want to use hemp rope But fire definitely won’t catch like this I’ll unravel this The more surface area exposed to air, the easier it catches fire So I’ll make the surface area as large as possible to light the fire Smoke is coming out So it should probably catch Even with this weird bamboo. I’ll place it on top of the bamboo from earlier like this, and cover the hole part so that the fire hits it at zero distance like this. If this doesn’t work, I’ll give up. Smoke is coming out, this might work. This hole is too small, it was just for a moment. Frustrating! There was so much smoke coming out though. No good? It definitely seemed more likely to catch fire than before. Man, I thought it was going to work. I wonder what’s wrong. So annoying… It’s impossible. It’s completely impossible. I’ll try a different method. Probably because it’s different from regular bamboo and thick, the sparks cool down before they fall down, that’s the feeling. It’s no good at all. I’ll go with the bow drill method. What should I do? Anything dry would be fine though. Alright, found it, found it! I’ll use this. I’ll make fire with this. I wonder if it’ll work. If it doesn’t work, this is seriously tough. Man, I never thought it wouldn’t work. Well then, I’ll shave this stick with the board. Really, a more solid one would be better, but there isn’t any. There’s too little driftwood. Once I get the fire going, everything else will work out somehow. Like this, it became round. Now I’ll make a notch about this deep. Will the fire catch? The fire’s no good, not at all. Since the fire won’t catch, I’ll give up for now. Even if I got a fire going, there’s only puddle water anyway. Maybe I’ll get water from plants. Something to look for! Ah, I’m back. Seriously, over there there’s a base but nothing else, just a base with nothing. Alright! Finally found some moisture! Amazing, look look, this is moisture! Look, it’s a root vegetable! I don’t know if it’s turnip or radish, but I can get quite a bit of moisture from this, and there are lots growing. But the roots are small. Look, like radishes. But still, this is grateful! I’m so thirsty. There are lots of them, nice. These kinds of radishes, surprisingly often grow when you go to beaches. They’re called beach radishes and such. This is a bit different from beach radish Beach radish is longer, I don’t know what this is but it might be edible, right? I should wash off the dirt first If I get a stomachache trying to get water, I won’t last 10 days Yes, this is my first new ingredient. It’s not delicious It’s extremely not delicious, but I feel like my throat got moistened Ah, but I feel a bit revived It’s not that spicy I don’t really like radish But I have no choice This is the only water I have For now I don’t think my stomach will get full no matter how much of this I eat I need to find some food ingredients Well, today is fine I can totally go without eating for a day Anyway, water! I want water I ate one for now I’ll take two back for now When I get thirsty again, I’ll drink this Thanks to this weird radish, I can manage somehow Oh right, normally when I go free diving I don’t eat breakfast or lunch So I don’t really feel hungry But anyway, I’m thirsty. This is bad. I finally found a large amount of water I can hydrate myself I can see banana or plantain trees I can get water from those It’s far. This is probably plantain If it were banana There should be bigger fruits. Whether it’s banana Or plantain, it’s fine I’ll take one for now. There are about 7, so Maybe I can last about 5 days This will probably be extremely astringent but it’s better than nothing Oh wow, this is my first proper meal today. Wow, I’m so happy. Alright. It’s quite awful… It’s extremely disgusting but I’m so thirsty It’s supremely awful There’s a lot of water content, it’s awful… It tastes like boiled banana peels Super awful, but I managed to secure water With this, I probably won’t die for 10 days But this is seriously awful I seriously thought about making fire This is tough. Even though I’m this thirsty I can’t get it down at all Even torture wouldn’t make you eat something this awful Man, there’s so much trash here There are various things, there are coconuts too They probably don’t have water anyway And I want a pot Yeah, even if I make fire We can’t boil water without a pot, you know, somehow I wonder if there’s something we can use as a pot. Wait, wait, there was a pot I’m really happy after all, and it’s in really good condition. There was a pot! Oh wow, look, look, look at this! This pot is in really good condition Wow, wow, I’m so happy! Now we just need to start a fire Yeah, wow, that’s great! Awesome! Let’s go back We’ve already returned to the base quickly This is our third round trip now It’s getting pretty tough. The turnips are now the most decent source of hydration, somehow They’re starting to taste good, incredibly so Even though they taste awful. The time is 3:23, about 5 hours since we started Let’s try hard to start a fire while we still have energy Let’s get a fire going I’m definitely going to start one next I think it should be a bit thinner. Well, if it’s thicker than normal bamboo I think it would work if we make it as thin as normal bamboo Is that not how it works? It’s about the same thickness as normal bamboo now I’ll keep rubbing until it catches fire anyway I absolutely won’t stop moving my hands I’ll keep going until it lights It’s impossible. Ah, this is frustrating This is impossible Let’s look for different bamboo Normally, you know, fire would light instantly if you just turn on the stove, and water comes out when you turn on the tap But now I’m thinking about that water with mosquito larvae All I’m thinking about is how to filter, boil, and drink that water My head isn’t working properly anymore. The temperature was like 34°C Before it gets dark, it might rain tomorrow, so let’s prepare for rain by putting the wood in places where it won’t get wet If the wood gets wet, honestly it’s impossible There’s so much trash here it’s almost like it’s staged, but there’s little usable trash This feels more solid than the house I live in If we can just get a fire started once It would be like clearing this challenge Anyway, let’s keep putting the wood in places where it won’t get wet, in the shade of rocks Alright I tried collecting some now There’s hardly any wood. Not nearly enough for 10 days I’d like to explore various places But seriously, if we don’t start a fire Nothing can begin Let’s work hard on starting the fire I found some bamboo that looks pretty good, though it’s thin So I’m trying to start a fire with that This bamboo. It’s quite thin bamboo But in terms of thickness, it’s pretty much like normal bamboo So I think it should catch fire easier than the previous one I think I’ll give it a try I never thought fire-making wouldn’t finish in one day I was underestimating it I’ll definitely light it, definitely Will this light? Will it work? Well, what I’m doing isn’t that difficult, but not having water and also not knowing if it’ll really work Maybe it won’t light at all That fear, you know Isn’t making fire the hardest part? Once I have a spear, I can catch as many fish as I want About 30 minutes left until sunset I’ll light it no matter what, until the fire lights I’ll keep rubbing! I’ll definitely finish this!! Damn, it’s charring but won’t catch fire What’s wrong? I might seriously not make fire today. There are two possible reasons Actually three. The first reason is simply not rubbing enough times. The second reason is not pressing down hard enough when rubbing The third is bad material quality. If it’s bad material then there’s nothing I can do I’ll believe it’s not the third reason and keep trying. Also, I’ve been getting bitten by mosquitoes constantly, it’s so annoying But mosquito bites don’t affect me at all At least there’s that to be grateful for, thanks to my mother. Anyway, I want water so badly, I’m so thirsty I don’t feel hungry at all. It’s almost sunset If I go into day two without any water there’s definitely a risk of dehydration I’ll light the fire today Maybe I should take a break? Sleep for 5 minutes 5 minutes, let’s sleep for 5 minutes Moving just to sleep is such a hassle. Man, I never thought it would be this tough It’s completely dark now And I haven’t accomplished anything Actually, I bought a metal match and stuff but I decided to light it with wood so I’ll use wood I want to show that even someone with no fire-making experience can do it if they try hard That’s what I want to show I didn’t practice at all It’s all about spirit You can overcome anything in this world with spirit That’s my position and I’ll keep trying hard. I’ll definitely light it It’s probably simply not enough rotations So I’ll just keep increasing the rotations Just keep trying hard, that’s all I can do! Here I go!!! I can make smoke but… I shouldn’t give up at this level. Somehow I’m getting fired up now that it’s nighttime That last one was close! The next one will work When I started YouTube too people told me “impossible” hundreds of times But I do it anyway Also, I think the reason I got energized is because it got cooler. It was seriously hot until just now. I can do this. Why won’t it catch fire? I made too many holes and cracks formed. The force is escaping. This won’t work. Let me split it again. I’m about to light it soon, little by little. I feel like I’m getting the hang of it. One thing I can say is that I’ll light it next time. The previous one was too short to secure properly. I’ll light it next time. While telling myself that, I’ll make improvements with each attempt. I think the video about my activity suspension was probably uploaded about an hour ago. I wonder what’s happening. I’m a bit curious. If I’m going to do survival, I thought bringing a phone wouldn’t be interesting. I wanted to completely disconnect from society, so I came without a phone. I think some people probably guessed it was survival. I don’t think everyone is that interested. Even if I suspend my activities. But well, to those who worried, I’m a bit sorry about that. Unless I take such a big action, my spirit is weak, so I’d probably give up halfway and go home. In the sense of blocking escape routes, this time I released that kind of video. After releasing that, it’s impossible to go home without doing anything. But even now I’m extremely thirsty and feel like dying, but I’ll definitely light the fire. That’s how much I’ve committed myself. I have a responsibility. The surface of bamboo is smooth, so I thought maybe if I shaved it, the friction would increase. I just thought of that and tried shaving the surface. I wonder how it is. I’ll light it next time. Let’s make holes. Next, this time for sure I’ll light it. This is bad. I’ll make this the last time. There’s no way it won’t light. I’ve improved it tremendously. I think this is more about fighting spirit than technique. That’s what I thought. If I have the fighting spirit, I can do it. Go for it! Here I go! Ah, I made it too thin and it broke. Damn, damn. One more time. One more time. Damn. It is charring a bit though. I think I figured out why this doesn’t work. This stone is too small, so I can’t secure it properly. I feel like if I prepare a flatter and bigger rock, it would work. It feels like a really basic mistake though. Anyway, I wonder if there’s a good rock. I feel like the place where I was sitting initially was the best. This is tonight’s dinner. Ah, I think I’m eating the same meal as the poorest person in Japan. Beach radish grows everywhere. No matter how poor you are, you can eat it If you know the leaves that grow everywhere in Japan, you’ll understand. Except in winter, the core is too hard to eat though Also, it’s really spicy. It revives you just a little. Yeah, it should probably taste good if you boil it I think this rock is quite flat and big, which is good Honestly, I’m already at my physical limit One more try is my limit Come to think of it, there was that nice piece of lumber Maybe I’ll go with that I put it in the wood storage area I feel like that could work The shape was ideal That one, that one The perfect shape for starting a fire. Heave-ho Perfect, right? Alright, this should work If this doesn’t start a fire It might be impossible Ah, damn it. But this is the most charred it’s been so far. Damn it Let’s stop for today. But I feel like I’m starting to see some signs of progress I’ll start it tomorrow. I’ll start it in the morning while it’s cool It’s getting pretty tough now. I’m getting hungry too Well, there’s nothing to eat though This is reality I came in with pretty solid survival knowledge But it’s quite difficult. So Today ends with no fire, no water, no food, and no shelter I thought survival would be pretty easy But it’s not that sweet I’ll sleep here tonight The stars are out and it doesn’t look like it’ll rain So I’ll sleep on the beach I’ve slept on the ground several times before, so it’s fine At this temperature, it’s totally doable If I keep trying to start a fire now, my muscles won’t move anymore It would just be wasteful exhaustion Tomorrow I’ll wake up at dawn and drink water while it’s cool Man, I’m tired. So 10-day survival day 1 is complete Right now there’s a hermit crab in front of me I really want to eat it But this is a natural monument so I can’t eat it I want to eat it though. So Day 1 is complete I’m going to sleep here now Well then, good night. I’ll probably put on a jacket later because it’s cold But right now I’m hot from moving around too much. Good night. I’m tired It’s November 4th. Day 2 It was cold. Really cold. Without fire It’s literally hell Let’s start a fire for now I’m chilled to the bone My head hurts, I’m cold, thirsty too I’m so hungry that I’ve gone past hunger and now feel sick Let’s eat something today. I’ve gotten the hang of it quite a bit The sea is pretty rough today too Where you see white waves, that’s where the coral reef breaks off From there it drops to about 15 to 20 meters deep But it looks like I can get into the coral reef Today, yesterday there was quite a current even inside the coral reef That’s how it was Today I can get in Well, I won’t go in though Anyway, I need to start a fire first Nothing can begin without that At night this is tough. Everyone probably thinks those white waves look easy But only the edge of the reef gets extremely shallow, and if you get caught up there Without a wetsuit It would be dangerous Going out there without goggles or anything would be deadly. Today let’s start a fire And eat some crabs There are lots of crabs I think I can probably catch them with my bare hands. Alright, let’s start a fire this time Man, I didn’t think it would take this long By now I was supposed to be drinking warm soup Man, this is tough I seriously want water. Water, water! Alright, let’s get ready. Even though I brought A bench coat, sleeping without a tent or sleeping bag was unimaginably cold I urgently needed to start a fire First, with hemp rope I’ll make tinder… ah, I can’t speak properly With hemp rope I’ll make tinder Exactly like yesterday. The tinder I made on the first day got dew on it and was useless So I decided to make new ones Ah, I’m so thirsty… Today, just like the first day, I’ll use bamboo to start a fire This method ignites through friction heat created by rubbing bamboo pieces together Alright, let’s light it If I do this multiple times, I’ll lose stamina And it’ll get worse and worse So let’s do it in one shot. I want to drink water soon I seriously need water. No smoke is coming up at all I wonder why. Damn, I can still go This rubbing work Is extremely simple but The burden on my shoulder was incredible, and the pain remained even after a month Will it light? Really, why won’t this light? No way It won’t light at all. Will something light? Continuously doing something when you don’t know if it’ll work I’m already exhausted both physically and mentally, and well, I’ve been trying this for about 2 hours now, but honestly, I haven’t had any water or food, so I have no strength left. This is the last attempt – anything more than this would be too tough. Well, I could spend 10 days surviving on banana plants, but that would honestly be boring, so if this doesn’t work, let’s use the fire starter. If I’m going to use a fire starter, I might as well use a lighter at this point. Man, this is tough. Let’s go for the last attempt. Last, last attempt to light it. That’s exactly why… Ah, I’m getting so close though. Let me try one more time. One more time, don’t give up… No, it’s no good. I’m incredibly frustrated, but it’s impossible. It’s not even a matter of determination anymore, there’s simply no bamboo. There’s only one piece of bamboo that’s actually usable, and that bamboo is now unusable from what I just did – it’s completely worn out. Well, can’t help it. Making fire is way more difficult than I imagined. Let’s use tools now. Ah, sorry about this – it cracked and is now unusable. I was going to try the drill method too, but without long, non-rotted wood, it probably won’t work. There won’t be enough friction. Reluctantly, let’s light the fire. The time is now 10 o’clock. I had decided not to use fire-starting tools, so I left them at the initial landing spot, which means another hour round trip. This is so frustrating! I brought back the metal match. Let’s light it in 2 minutes. 2 minutes! If I use this, let’s light it in 2 minutes. Once I use this, it’s no longer survival, it might just become camping. Honestly, as long as I have fire, I can manage somehow, so let’s do this. Sorry about this. After talking so big and then not being able to do it. Even if you fail, there’s value in making the attempt. Once I use hemp rope and a metal match, honestly it doesn’t feel like survival anymore, but it was my lack of skill. I’ll admit that. But just thinking that this fire will light makes me want fire. Oh no! It lit instantly! It really lit in 2 minutes – it lit so fast that I didn’t get it on video, but should I try again? Let me put it out for a moment, seriously. It lit in 5 seconds, but I’ll do it again. After struggling so much to light that fire, I’m putting it out in an instant. Metal matches are amazing. Without any practice at all, it lit in 2 seconds. It might be difficult to even struggle with it It’s incredibly easy, and it might even be faster than a lighter. It lit for about 2 seconds at first, but I wasn’t filming, so I put it out once I had plenty of time Well then, let’s secure some water Finally I can drink water! It doesn’t look like it’ll rain at all Well, but there was a tropical depression coming, so there’s definitely a possibility of big rough seas like a typhoon, well, if that happens, I might be able to drink lots of water Well then, let’s go to the pot I made first Well, bamboo doesn’t last long, so let’s light a slightly bigger piece of wood and bring it over there. Let’s go with this – this is what I’ve been seeking all day It’s really, really warm! I’m happy! I can warm up at night and sleep well It was seriously cold last night was, but wow I thought the metal match would take about 30 minutes, but it really was just an instant Making fire with bamboo might have been useful So it doesn’t go out I’ll put on a big one Fire goes up like this, so it’s good to put what you want to burn on top If you put it under the fire it won’t burn at all Alright, I’ll put this here for now, yes! Well then, let’s prepare water First, the pot I got yesterday I’ll clean that I’ll probably get sick if I use it as is In an environment without detergent, fire is probably the best disinfectant, heave-ho! Well, from what I can see it looks like organic dirt, so I think it’s probably better to burn it off rather than wash it with seawater I’ll just throw it in the fire for now Well, after about an hour all the organic matter will turn to charcoal Yes, I’m thirsty. I’ll just toss it right here This is how they clean woks and such by burning them off, it’s the same principle Well, shall we go collect water? I wonder if I could drink the water from plastic bottles if I heat it? Like, there’s some pretty clean water too I’ll try looking for relatively clean plastic bottles I think this is still better than mosquito larva water – it’s clear, so doesn’t that mean it’s not rotten? Let me smell it – ah! Ah! Ah! It doesn’t stink! But it smells a bit oily If I heat this up, it should be fine If I really get diarrhea, I definitely won’t last 10 days I really want to drink this as is, but I won’t drink it like this. Let’s heat it up, even though it’s a pain This amount is nowhere near enough Today’s temperature is about 33 degrees, and I think I’ll probably consume about 3 to 4 liters of water per day This is nowhere near enough Now, let’s look for a cup A cup, anything like an aluminum can will do Hot, it’s getting really hot. Oh, I found a really good one! There’s quite a lot of stuff washed up Cans and things like that Ugh, it’s a Chinese can Looks like peanuts. The inside is pretty clean. Maybe I can use it if I wash it with seawater? There’s another one! This also looks like peanuts! Let’s open it Same one? There’s nothing inside Not the same, it’s a bit different. Let’s wash it with seawater. It doesn’t smell rotten It seems totally fine Really, I should heat-sterilize this can too, but since it didn’t smell rotten I decided to wash it with seawater There are small fish here It’s getting quite burnt It was organic matter after all Quite a lot remained Let’s wash this with seawater for now. In complete contrast to the night, the strong direct sunlight and extreme heat Made me take off my pants for the first time since starting survival Since I have nothing to wash with I’ll scrape it off with stones I don’t have the energy to clean this anymore This part won’t come off much, so it’s fine I’ll boil it like this Finally I can drink water! At this moment I was making a big mistake My hands are starting to shake. Please boil quickly. I’m going to die. I’m so thirsty Bubbles are already coming out So it’s probably around 70 degrees I can’t stand it anymore, I’ll drink it The sterilization should be done by now Using this weird Shoe sole-like thing The handle is rotted and I can’t grab it So I decided to use driftwood as a substitute Most bacteria die at around 70 degrees, so there’s no need to wait for it to boil It’s about a cup’s worth Hot, hot, hot! It’s too hot to drink. I’m so thirsty but it’s too hot to drink What a tragedy. Bad news. I thought it wasn’t rotten, but it was seawater… I see, I see. Seawater Has a higher salt concentration than human body fluids, so even if you drink it Your body won’t be hydrated. I’m throwing it away At worst, I should have just tasted it a little This is quite a big shock I don’t even have the energy to be sad anymore Well, there’s no choice now Since there’s no choice, let’s make a filtration device Let’s scoop up the mosquito larva water and drink it! Alright! Let’s do this So many flies are coming over Yes, let’s make a filtration device We’ll use this plastic bottle This dirty one. Man, we should have done this where there’s a river It smells like alcohol It really smells like alcohol This might be bad I’ll wash it with sand The smell is gone. I need cloth for the filter, but I’ll use a shoe that was lying around here I don’t really want to use it though I considered using the insole, but I really didn’t want to, so I decided to use the toe part instead I’ll tie the cloth I took out with hemp rope This is called a clove hitch The more force is applied, the tighter it gets Then I’ll put in the gravel Maybe I should use a towel after all It’s a waste, but Since I brought it with me, I’ll use the towel Alright, I’ll tie it again First, I’ll put in small stones Small stones, then I’ll put in gravel Like this, next I’ll put in charcoal Charcoal that’s still warm is excellent at absorbing impurities That’s all the charcoal I have. I’ll put in sand OK, finally I’ll lay a towel on top of this If there are mosquito larvae I just need to strain out the mosquito larvae I got so sunburned, oh no Such a clean towel… *sigh*… OK, alright! So then Let’s go get the water with mosquito larvae There’s a bucket among the drifted items I’ll put it in the bucket Well, let’s go pick it up Ah, I can finally drink water It’s the minimum level of water though Well, this is a rainy region, so when it rains I’ll collect rainwater I plan to drink that But right now I have no choice, I’m completely parched There’s a bucket Look, a weird pink bucket Well, the fact that it washed ashore means there are no holes in it So it floated with air inside. It’s a good size Oh, nice! It has a lid too. Hmm, won’t this open? Well, if it won’t open I’ll just pry it open It really won’t open No choice, I’ll cut it When you try to do one thing There’s always one thing that doesn’t go well The bucket lid was abnormally firmly stuck The plastic parts might have melted and stuck together Phew, I cut my hand Well, the cut is only about 2 millimeters, so it doesn’t matter I should just be careful about infection In the past, when I felt a little pain It used to hurt a lot, but when you’re a fisherman There’s something painful almost every day, so I don’t care anymore. It’s scary how you get used to it On the contrary, I got injured and adrenaline kicked in So I feel a bit more energetic now Injury is the best! Well, if it was at the level that needed stitches But even then, I probably wouldn’t care I wouldn’t go home for something like that I’m not here with that kind of mindset Maybe I like adversity? The more adverse it gets, the more fired up I become I’ll finish this quickly Let’s hurry and drink some water Once I drink water, I should feel much more energetic. Whoa, I almost got injured again I don’t usually cut my hand or anything My concentration has really dropped. It came off! It came off, the inside It’s really clean. Well, I really think it would be nice if there was a handle But I can’t be luxurious Well, it would be a waste of time to attach a handle now Let’s hurry and go get water Let’s do our best. I should feel energetic once I drink water Once we secure water, let’s make a bed If it rains, honestly it won’t be a joke So I’ll make a bed under the rocks for now Since I made a base where the rain won’t hit Alright, shall we go? I got a bucket, but No, I have to cross one cliff To reach the puddle Honestly, I have a huge sweet tooth Right now, my hope is to eat Mont Blanc. I want to eat Mont Blanc A cold, chilled one. And for drinks, Coke! I want to drink Coke I thought that in extreme situations You’d want to eat more healthy things But anyway, I want sugar I don’t really need protein or fat, but I want sugar. While doing that, I found some food There were small snails The puddle is quite far from the base So I think I should collect this kind of food while I’m at it I don’t want to make many round trips I don’t know if these snails are safe But basically there are no poisonous ones of this type So they should be fine if cooked Protein after a long time. Alright, let’s collect them When I looked it up later These shells seem to be a type called Tamabiki They’re unusual shells that don’t like seawater and can survive in environments without water It seems they can live for about 2 months Two of them, I’d say that’s about 10 kilocalories Well, I think my daily calorie consumption is probably around 1500 kilocalories So how many of these would that be If one is 5 kilocalories Well, I can’t calculate it I’m level 2 in mental arithmetic I’m fast at calculations, but if I divide 1500 kilocalories here, that’s 300 I need to eat 300 of them Alright, once I get food I’m feeling a bit more energetic now, almost at the water There should be good broth from the mosquito larvae. I’m here, if possible I didn’t want to drink it But to survive 10 days, I have no choice but to drink this Let me just smell it first Bacteria die when heated But the toxins produced by bacteria don’t disappear even when heated If it smells weird There’s another one ahead A puddle that looks a bit fresher Well, the water is a bit brownish But this is probably not because it’s rotting I think it’s tannin from fallen leaves that’s dissolved in it Well, it’s basically tea It’s not a place where people would come So I don’t think anyone would defecate here. It doesn’t smell rotten, so it’s good to go. There are mosquito larvae It’s not seawater either, so let’s go Whether I get stomach problems or can drink it Well, it’s probably not that toxic Let me check the taste too I just wasted water doing that It’s okay, it doesn’t taste rotten. Let’s go The mosquito larvae are good kids Probably because I’m here, they went to the bottom of the water I barely scooped any up. Anyway, I’ve secured about 2 liters There’s enough for today too I really want to drink about 5 liters But 2 liters for now. Alright, let’s go back, filter it and put it on the fire. Just a bit more. It takes a long time until I can drink water. It’s low tide right now It’s the perfect chance to get ingredients But first, water Yes, so I’m back, let’s put the filtered water Directly into the pot With this, I’ve finally secured 2 liters of water I can survive now. I’m pretty okay with not eating I can go another 2 days without eating For now, I want to drink water. I really didn’t think I wouldn’t eat anything Just right, I’ll stand this in here and filter it, due to fatigue My hands are shaking and the precious water is spilling It won’t fit in the plastic bottle Wait a minute, look at this The water of life is being filtered Good, it’s better to do this outside for now This is difficult, but this should remove bugs and plastic Alright, it’s working well I want to drink it right now, but If I get sick, I’ll take water with me, so I’ll properly boil it This takes quite a while I wonder if it’ll work like this morning’s fire starting Rather than not knowing at all This is much more fun – fire starting was quite hellish This is Just plain fun The fact that I can drink it soon You know, people often get angry saying “don’t imitate this” should be put in the footnotes, but Anyone who imitates this is at fault themselves That’s what I think They’re at fault. When tap water is normally drinkable Anyone who tries to filter and boil puddle water with mosquito larvae is clearly at fault – it’s obviously dangerous I don’t want to drink it either Honestly, if possible, if there was a river, I would have wanted to drink river water But I have no choice, so I’m drinking this The banana tastes like crap too But thanks to that, I still don’t have an appetite Maybe I have an upset stomach. While waiting for filtering It’s a waste of time, so Let’s proceed with building the base Yesterday I slept around where that saw was dropped There’s no roof or anything Like this Out in the open, and the weather is bad! I’m going to move to a place with a ceiling above This innermost place Will be my base There’s a big stone right here, so This will be the table The perfect stone Yesterday, this is where I placed it at night and was starting fires There’s a lot of trash, so I’ll remove the trash, lay gravel And spread sand on top of that I want to build walls too, but There’s no time today Yeah, impossible. Wow, there’s quite a bit of trash Just here alone has some pretty interesting driftwood Slippers! Slippers! Slippers! Volleyball! Beach ball! I’ll remove all the hangers. Just clearing them out There’s something inside this Listerine bottle Something like a nasty mushroom is in there This is a jog, isn’t it? Light attached to the boat. There’s a lot of styrofoam. Massive amounts of garbage are dumped on the coast. That this is happening all over the planet is an unbelievable but true story. How much garbage is drifting in the ocean? And considering it’s still increasing, it’s terrifying. This looks usable. It looks like PVC. It’s become quite clean. From here, I’ll flatten it and lay out gravel. Actually, I should lay out something like the grass I used when eating yesterday’s banana. Sand and stones absorb quite a bit of body heat, so I’d like to lay something down. Well, probably time-wise it’ll be tough. Anyway, I think the water has been filtered by now, so let’s boil the water. And since boiling will take time, let’s flatten it in the meantime. Wow, it’s finally done! I feel like the transparency has improved too. Nothing more comes out. Almost… let’s use this. Alright, this is the last one. Let’s get energized. Set! Alright! Whoa, it’s tilting. I should have studied how to make a stove. It’s wobbly and the pot… can’t be fixed, plus the heat conduction is poor. Now I’ll put the sea snails I caught earlier into this to make soup. There’s some plastic floating. Is it okay? Normally, you’d probably filter it about twice. Shell soup. Ugh, it doesn’t look delicious, but I’m happy. This plastic looks quite dangerous, so let me scoop off the surface. It’s completely water now. Alright, while it’s boiling, let’s level the ground. It’s going up toward that direction. Good. And for the width, I think about 2 meters would be good. For an average man, the width from thumb to pinky is about 20 centimeters, so 10 of these would be about 2 meters. We basically don’t bring measuring tapes into the ocean, so when measuring how many centimeters something is in the ocean, we place our hand against the fish to roughly check how many centimeters it is. Well, I actually measured this width and it’s 20 centimeters, so if I don’t decide the working area first, I think I’ll waste energy unnecessarily, so I’ll measure. This white rock, I’ll start from here. 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, 160, 180, 200, 220cm. It’s a bit scary, so shall I take 220cm? Up to here. I should put a marker. Like this, up to this bamboo. I’ll probably move this stone, so let me wedge it here. It looks like quite hard work, but fortunately, most of the fallen rocks are limestone and much lighter than they appear Also, limestone is a material for concrete, so if we take time, it should be possible to build a decent house Working with limestone Alright, it’s gotten a bit flatter now Next, I’ll lay out stones of about 200g continuously, and on top of that, let’s put sand Well, initially I thought about making a wooden house, but maybe I’ll make walls with stone and put a roof with wood on top There’s not much wood and lots of stones I have to use what’s available Oh wait, it’s boiling, let me drink it My mouth is already parched. It’s kind of brown. Let me remove it from the fire first. Whoa, that’s dangerous. Now let’s try drinking it. It doesn’t smell rotten Surprisingly, the shellfish broth came out more than expected and it’s salty, I was a bit surprised, but shall I drink it? Even in such an extreme state, I still have some resistance But it looks like an evening shower might come today, so I should be able to secure rainwater This is an emergency measure Ah, I feel revived This water itself is probably only about 700ml, so I’ll consume it slowly, the method that’s easiest to absorb I’ll take it in I just took two sips, so I’ll work again, take two sips, and slowly over the day drink two sips at a time, and wait for rainwater for the rest If I drink it all at once, it gets excreted easily, so I’ll drink slowly Also, I don’t know how many hours it takes to get food poisoning, but if I do get it, I should stop drinking. Well, regarding the shellfish, I just killed them, so as long as there are no toxins, it should be fine Now let’s eat some shellfish Ah, but I’ve recovered quite a bit Those two sips made a huge difference But honestly, I feel like drinking it all, but let’s go slowly. If I act on emotion, I probably can’t survive 10 days Ah, after drinking water, I suddenly felt tired Alright, shellfish Let’s eat. OK, let’s crack the shellfish. Let’s keep cracking them They crack quite easily They’re soft shellfish Good thing. If they were night shellfish, cracking them would be extremely difficult. If I dove, I could get lots and lots, but I decided not to dive Until day 5, well, it’s better than eating nothing, I guess I guess so I’m not hungry at all I probably got food poisoning from something, maybe banana or turnip. When you get food poisoning you lose your appetite Delicious! This is incredibly delicious! Oh no, my appetite suddenly came back! It’s full of sand and gritty, but it’s so delicious! What is this? Right, this is what eating is like! I should have boiled the turnip too But there aren’t any growing around here If I go to where turnips are growing, it would take about an hour round trip This is incredibly delicious! I’ve never harvested anything like this before I didn’t even know these existed here Wow, I want to eat more! I’ve already finished eating I wasn’t planning to eat anything today but let’s go look for something at night when the tide is low If I go during the day, fish and other creatures are awake so it would probably be a waste of time At night they’re sleeping, so I should be able to catch them Well, I think I’ll spear them with my survival knife in the shallows Fish like striped surgeonfish and unicorn tang Tang species and also Parrotfish species like taiwan parrotfish can be caught standing up, you don’t need to dive They’re in the shallows at about 30cm depth I wonder what I should catch today Maybe I’ll go hunting! I’m getting really hungry. I drank water too, so alright Let’s make a bed No, before making a bed, let’s prepare to collect rainwater Looking at the sky it looks like it might rain Well, I got water from the puddle I got it, but I’ll drink it as sparingly as possible and make it last until the rainwater comes It’s pretty tight though But I’ll drink two sips at a time About two sips every 30 minutes. I’m cutting this shell with a saw But I recovered a bit That water that I wouldn’t even drink as punishment normally I drank two sips and stopping at the third sip was all I could do Seriously, let me cut this and drink again. Alright, this looks good Perfect! I’ll wash this with seawater Since plastic can’t be put over fire I’ll wash it with seawater Black color absorbs light easily so the strong UV rays should kill the bacteria too OK, I’ll use this It’s seriously about to rain! Rain I understand how people who pray for rain feel! Rain prayers and such You might think everyone’s making fun of it a bit but seriously, I don’t show it but I’m really praying for rain right now After drinking water and eating food, I’m feeling a bit tired from the sense of relief I’m getting quite tired But well, it’s evening and cool now, so it’s easier to move around, easier to move, yeah What I’m going to use this for is I’ll place it to serve as a catchment when it rains Well, I don’t think it’ll rain much today, but the more I place, the better The amount of water I can get from one rain will increase, so I’ll keep doing this So this doesn’t get blown away by the wind I’ll place a stone on it Yes, and I’ll bury another one a bit and place a stone on it too Alright, so I’ve set up two of them This is bad – once I start drinking, I can’t stop Well, I worked hard on this, so I’ll drink Hmm, taste-wise, it has a really strange flavor It’s the taste of metal ions that dissolved, plus the taste of shellfish, and probably the taste of stagnant water The aftertaste is extremely, extremely bad By the way, the time is 4:44 About 2 hours until sunset in the morning It looked like it was going to rain earlier But the clouds went somewhere else So it probably won’t rain I set up two of them, but Should I go back to base building? Believing it’ll rain someday People will probably say this is all staged I think they’ll say that But the day after the last video, I’ll post a video showing my weight change So I think that’ll serve as proof Ugh, the salt content is too high It doesn’t feel like proper hydration I think adding the shellfish was a mistake The reason I’m being so careful about hydration is Back in high school, I was quite a biology nerd and studied things like salt concentration in the human body So I studied various things, and theoretically, drinking it might be meaningless Furthermore, if you drink it You also lose water in the process Since I’m really planning to spend 10 days here I’m being extremely cautious But I’m pretty much at my limit But well, I’ve recovered quite a bit With this muddy water now Stagnant water – no, I shouldn’t call it stagnant water It’s not stagnant water in this place What should I call it? I want a good name for it Let’s call it fresh water after all Fresh water – if I call it fresh water, even if it tastes a bit bad, it feels good for the body, so it’s not mosquito larva water It’s fresh water. Alright, let’s work hard on the gravel I hardly produce any saliva now, so it’s hard to speak But I’ll keep talking I’m a YouTuber, so Alright, if you’re a YouTuber, then move your feet! Well, it’s like I was prepared for this Ah, this is also fresh water But the bugs inside this are totally dead – it’s an environment where even mosquito larvae can’t survive Because it’s just sitting out here in the open The sunlight probably heated the water to about 60 degrees and killed them I don’t think it’s poisonous or anything But there’s no need to drink this on purpose Because I have fresh water I have fresh water I feel like my saliva is coming back a bit As expected of fresh water – without that, day 3 would have been impossible Now let’s keep collecting gravel I’ll use slightly larger stones to make the ground somewhat level, somehow Day 2 feels worse than day 1 I thought I’d get more energetic with things like Tajima’s superhuman strength or autophagy But simply put, day 2 became tougher than day 1 So probably day 3 will be tougher than day 2, and day 4 tougher than day 3 So I decided to do as much as possible while I still can I learned that you can’t rely on those kinds of expectations Keep going, keep going Make the next day easier – fast forward – the nearby stones are running out So the walking distance from my base keeps getting longer I’m running out of energy to talk So I’m silently working away It’s gotten somewhat cleaner Now I’ll keep piling up finer stones And finally sand, that’s the plan Water, you know I’ve been drinking it constantly And I’ve recovered quite a bit The initial fire-making was so exhausting This work is tiring, but it’s not mental fatigue It’s physical fatigue So I’m grateful – I don’t know how many trips I’ve made already But the bumps and dips are gradually disappearing It’s still pretty tough for sleeping But it’s reached a barely sleepable level – no way My prediction was spot on It’s extremely hot – storm clouds are coming There’s thunder too – I need to move the fire and stuff This is bad – I don’t know if water will reach here too This is trouble – I really thought it wouldn’t rain But it really looks like it will And it’s going to be quite heavy rain Around here they have things called squalls where it pours in the evening I need to prepare quickly or this is bad Oh no, this is the end – I moved the wood to this edge Rain shouldn’t get in here I hope – well, somehow Like this, the lid of the cooler box has fallen off, but it seems like it could be useful somehow. Anyway, I’ve finally finished moving the filming equipment, so it should work out somehow. The sun has already set. It’s not completely dark, but I was actually planning to make a sleeping place before sunset, but I didn’t make it in time. But that would clearly reduce the quality of sleep, so let’s work a bit harder on the sand! The sand on this beach is relatively fine-grained and wasn’t bad for sleeping comfort. For now, I’ll focus on laying sand for the upper body. The smoke is terrible – I’ll get carbon monoxide poisoning. Let me adjust the stove a bit so the smoke doesn’t come toward where I am. I’ll create levels with stones. I’ll create levels with stones. The smoke is starting to rise upward a bit now. When I sleep, I won’t get carbon monoxide poisoning and should be fine. Well, I moved with determination, but fatigue hit me all at once somehow. My knees hurt terribly, and although my throat is moistened, well, even though I say moistened, it’s nowhere near enough. But tomorrow will definitely be harder than today, so to recover my strength for tomorrow as much as possible, I think I’ll lay out sand, but let me take a break first – maybe sit for about an hour. One thing I’m thinking right now is that I want to drink cold water or cola somehow. I managed to secure water, but the bamboo water, tree trunk water, and ditch water all taste bad. The ditch water tastes the worst, and there’s only about a third left. I drank quite a bit – I hope I don’t get stomach problems. I’ll take a break. I’m tired – I can’t move another step. Ah, this smoke hitting me is tough. You can see the smoke. Well, it’s a very open area, so I probably won’t get carbon monoxide poisoning. Well, when I lie down like this and do nothing, I start thinking about various things and it becomes mentally tough in reverse. Well, my stamina is gradually recovering, but mentally it’s better to keep moving – better not to think about anything. There are still 8 more days, so when I think about that, it’s quite something. I haven’t even had a proper meal yet. Anyway, the smoke is terrible, so I’ll make a bigger wall here. It won’t work if it’s not straight. No good. Yes, like this. It’s gotten much better. The airflow is good too. Yes, the fire is burning normally. Next, I’ll make a bed and create more rain catchment, then go to sleep. I’ve been moving since dawn. I’m quite tired Since we managed to secure water today I’ve barely eaten anything My legs are wobbly Should we just put up this pillar as is? It’s totally fine to have a pillar here First, I’ll wedge in a big stone, then smaller stones, oh no – the smoke is choking me, I put the fire in the wrong place Then I’ll wedge in gravel, that’s the plan That way it’ll stand somewhat It’s quite reinforced now If this were clay soil I could dig and stab it in, but it’s weak I’ll proceed like this It’s gotten quite solid I think this is good enough for today Since I’m not using it right now Later when I have time I’m planning to build a frame and make a roof That’s when I’ll do it, the smoke is terrible This is my limit for now Simply put, I don’t have enough water And I don’t have enough energy either That water from earlier I finished drinking it long ago Two sips and an hour Or so passed and there was no stomach trouble So I figured it was probably okay Though I really should have waited about a day But I couldn’t take it anymore so I drank it My throat is parched, I’m dying, isn’t there any food? The stars are out now It probably won’t rain Usually squalls come around sunset Probably won’t come today, maybe tomorrow evening if it does But the rain clouds are gradually decreasing, so I think it will come Around tomorrow I’ll make A rainwater collection device So it’s 8:10, quite early, but I’m going to sleep That’s it for today, around this time of year the tide goes out at night So I’ll try going out to the night sea Probably around 1, 2 Or 3 AM the low tide will come I should be able to catch something, crabs Fish too if I’m lucky So I’ll sleep and then go catch fish Ow, ow, okay, I’m going to sleep now Man, this is the worst sleeping comfort, but I’ll sleep Tomorrow morning, around 2 AM, I’ll wake up and go catch fish So that’s how day 2 of the 10-day hardcore survival went It’s not going as well as I thought it would I’ll do my best again tomorrow Good morning This is day 3. The time is 3:21 AM on November 5th Even though I haven’t eaten anything I’m heading out into the pitch dark sea right away In the night sea, most fish are sleeping So creatures that stay in the rocks during the day come out to the surface I’m targeting those this time. Got a crab! Next, I aim carefully and got it I caught an octopus I want to bite into it right now, but This octopus has poison in its teeth, so I decided not to I found a creature camouflaged against the rock This is called an Iso-awomochi It’s a slug-like creature When you find one There are many around it So I can collect them efficiently I was actually planning to target fish But this day there was incredible wind The sea was rough, the surface had waves and I couldn’t see inside at all I had no choice but to focus on targeting iso-awomochi Cowrie shells are also valuable protein Well then, after fishing for about an hour, I decided to return to base Alright, so I explored for about an hour This is what I got It was good that I caught an octopus This is a striped octopus And iso-awomochi, there are such big ones! It was good that there were big ones So I caught these But I’m feeling extremely nauseous and don’t feel like eating I’ll cook them after dawn I feel really sick I feel like vomiting now But there’s nothing to vomit Well, dawn should come around 6:30 I’ll sleep until then. Possible causes are carbon monoxide Yesterday’s shellfish, or fresh water Let’s sleep. Alright, I woke up The smoke I think was quite the cause. Well, I think it’s also that my stamina has dropped The nausea has subsided quite a bit Alright, let’s cook It’s been 2 days I’ve barely eaten anything First, let me make the fire stronger for cooking I’ll start collecting driftwood right away There’s wood drifting on the shore So I’ll collect that After finishing adding wood to the fire, now I’ll walk to the sea First, I’ll go get some seawater I’d like to cook with fresh water, but I only have precious emergency water So I’ll cook with seawater Alright, let’s make some salt seasoning This is called Isamochi Well, it’s a type of sea slug Originally it was a spiral shell And this crab, I’m not sure what it is, but I think it’s edible And this is a striped octopus Quite a lot, seems like enough for two meals So until the salt boiling is done I’ll wait in the shade… probably I think my body’s sugar levels are running low It would be nice if there was something I could eat for sugar Coconuts would be pretty good, but there aren’t any here Also, I thought about eating Adan fruit, but it’s not ripe Too bad, but I’m also lacking protein So this is finally it Oh right, let me make chopsticks. Let’s make chopsticks Yes, I got some Let’s make chopsticks with this Making chopsticks Now I’ll make these easier to hold Making them easier to hold, or rather, I’ll make the tips better for gripping food These are hard to grip with Plus it’s bamboo So the inside is a bit curved Let’s fix that too Oh no, I’m lacking energy. Alright, let’s get energized! The chopsticks are getting done! Alright, let’s do this! I quite like this kind of work This kind of work where you don’t have to think about anything First, I’ll remove the curved part on the inside If I leave it, it hurts when I hold them If I’m going to make chopsticks I really want to make the best chopsticks possible And let’s remove these corners too These hurt, and the survival knife Is getting dull I didn’t bring a whetstone So I’ll have to make do like this. Alright! Done! Looking good Now I can grab things! I can eat! Yes, it’s probably not boiling anymore, but I think it’s cooked nicely. Let’s eat! While I was making chopsticks The seawater boiling was completed Oh wow! This looks incredibly delicious, the octopus Let’s eat the octopus! It looks so delicious! This is incredible, incredible, I’m about to cry, whoa- This is amazing, is this okay? After eating it, wait a moment, when I thought I could actually eat it, it makes me this happy It’s a bit salty, but this second day meal is seriously delicious, my chopsticks are tired, ah-! Actually, you’re supposed to remove the slime before eating it But I’m eating it without removing the slime It’s incredibly delicious! Amazing! It’s extraordinarily delicious! I’m so happy The innards smell really fishy But still, it’s delicious Now for the crab! Mystery crab Delicious! It’s incredibly sweet, alright, now for the sea anemone Let’s take out the flesh and such This remaining broth I’ll boil it down to the extreme to make salt, alright, I’ve come to the shade Well, everything except the octopus and crab Can’t be eaten as is So I’ll process them now First, I want to eat the sea anemone, it looks terrible But it’s normally delicious First, I’ll remove this moss-like stuff on the front This is really bitter It’s probably the same as what grows on stonefish and such I can’t remove it all Once more, it’s bitter but since the innards are in here, I’ll cut it It won’t cut at all with the knife I’ll remove these innards What’s the yellow stuff? Eggs maybe? I’ll wash it with seawater later Actually, you’re supposed to completely remove this moss before eating Normally you’d remove it, but I don’t have the tools You put it in a net or strainer and press against it to remove it, let’s go wash it with seawater Ugh, sand got on it This is a can’s worth of protein After eating the octopus, I got really energetic, yeah It’s completely different, I was saying I could manage without eating But it’s completely different, I have to eat Today is the third day If I can hang on for two more days until the fifth day From the sixth day, the tide will be high So I can eat fish from then, actually Even from the water surface, there are fish that really don’t move Surgeonfish types, filefish, Parrotfish and such don’t move at all, so I can eat them The wind is probably blowing at about 11 meters per second When the water surface is choppy like this I can’t see anything Well, can’t help it, but if only it would rain along with this Honestly, I think it’s going to rain during this survival If it doesn’t rain, I’ll get angry If it doesn’t rain I’ll completely retire The moss and organs of the limpet taste very bad, so I’ll wash them off with seawater Once I wash off the dirt, the cooking is complete Alright, I’ve finished washing them Finally I can eat Limpets By the way, on the island they’re called “houmi” The origin of the name can’t be discussed on YouTube, so please look it up. Let’s eat Hard! The big ones are hard. I’ll try the small ones Yeah, the small ones are delicious. Tasty! It’s like abalone, right? The taste is like shellfish flavor and medicine-like It’s really bitter. Normally the surface algae is bitter, so You remove the surface algae before eating, but I didn’t remove it, so It’s bitter. Also, it would be better to chop it finely To eat it deliciously. This is becoming addictive It’s a bit different, but it’s like chicken cartilage. Yeah Last night Or maybe this morning, I should have searched more. I want a backrest There are so many. For now Sorry for this posture, but I feel so energized. I’m grateful for life, really grateful for food For now, it seems like heavy rain is coming soon, so next is rain preparation Let’s build the walls of the house Yes, the limpets are all gone now Should I crack open the shells? They’re quite big What kind of shell is this? Hard! It’s incredibly hard. I don’t know what kind of shell this is, so I won’t eat the organs There might be poison It’s full of sand I like shellfish. Let’s eat Mmm, soft and delicious. Alright, let’s build the base. Something feels like a storm is coming, so let’s build a base For now, I’ll drive in four pillars. Something Let’s get something that can serve as pillars This looks pretty good. It has strength too Well, I’ve collected them, so Let’s keep building It looks like it’s going to rain quite a bit So, I did one last night, so This is the second one. Ora! I’ll secure it with big rocks like yesterday And I’ll restrain its movement with even bigger stones Really, it would be good if there were clay, but there isn’t, so I don’t think it will be that stable Really, if there were four support pillars There are strength issues, but this is an environment with little driftwood. I decided to build a minimal framework. Alright, let me align the lengths properly. Here we go! Yes! Well then, I’ve finished setting up four pillars. This is still just like a temporary fix and very weak, so I’m planning to reinforce it first. But for now, let’s build walls. Walls are more important than the roof for now. Actually, I was planning to build a house with wood, but there’s seriously no wood at all. Honestly, there’s only enough wood to make a roof and that’s it, so I’ll build the walls with rocks. If they collapse, I could die, so to prevent collapse, let’s do this carefully. Oh, I’m just continuously stacking rocks. The nearby rocks ran out, and the walking distance is gradually getting longer. Having consumed protein, this is still an extremely low-moisture environment. For three days, I haven’t properly consumed sugar or fat, and this wall-building work was extremely harsh. I’m tired. Ugh, honestly, I’m pretty much at my limit. Since yesterday, the wind has been quite strong, and when sleeping, the wind blows and it’s cold. To prevent wind and rain from getting in, I somehow wanted to build walls, but if I were in perfect condition it would be one thing, but this is quite tough. But if I don’t build walls now, it will definitely become miserable, so let’s do it. At first, stacking stones was easy, but from around the fourth layer, balancing became very difficult, and if I made mistakes with the type, shape, or placement of rocks, they would collapse immediately. I was stacking them randomly, but I need to stack them flat. When it reaches about one meter, it collapses. Let’s continue. While working on this, it looks like it’s about to rain soon. For now, let me move the fire. The salt is probably ready too. I had completely forgotten I was making it, but let me go check on the salt. Amazing, it’s really brown. Ah, but it is salt. It smells strongly of shellfish. Honestly, I’m thirsty right now, so I don’t really want to taste it, but let me try a little. It tastes exactly like seaweed rice crackers with bitterness. There’s bitterness. I thought it would add umami, but bitterness was added instead. It’s questionable. Let me make it again. But making it is I’ll just do it tomorrow Because it’s probably going to rain from now on The weather is bad too, so let’s move the fire, move the fire Because yesterday I almost died from smoke Let’s put it inside the cave. The cave won’t get wet, so we’ve arrived Well then, next, the house still isn’t finished at all, but It looks like it’s going to rain Let’s prepare to collect water. Honestly, fresh water alone has reached its limit Anyway, it’s like we’re going to keep making water sources. Let’s do our best I want about 10 liters Plastic bottles are good too This plastic bottle is really great It looks like we can collect a ton of water First, I’ll drop the tongue And I’ll split this into two This one I’ll cut it here I don’t think we can collect much, but it’s better than nothing This plastic bottle smells really good. Ah, it’s dangerous, it smells like sugar Ah, I want to consume sugar Ah, it’s dangerous, it’s a smell that really stimulates appetite Well, water comes before sugar It doesn’t rain much Let’s gather as much rain as possible If we have about 10 liters We’ll manage somehow I’m tired. No, it’s fun. Let’s do our best Fun, it’s so fun. Survival. There are only dirty puddles at this location So the plan is to make rain catchers to secure water Well anyway, regarding this, the more we have, the more rainwater we can collect I’ll put stones in like this so they don’t blow away Here it comes! This time I’ve been collecting water all along, and what I realized is that without coconut shells or husks it’s tough, I mean tough, or rather it’s pretty much impossible, you know The puddle water didn’t upset my stomach, but it’s actually extremely dangerous, you know There are coconuts that have fallen too Honestly, they’re scattered all over the place, they are fallen, but the ones on the island don’t have coconut water in them The coconut juice, I guess you’d call it, coconut water – there isn’t a single one that has any This one’s also completely dry. The inside edible part is also really rotten And it makes absolutely no sound at all Here, listen to the mic – the sound of water makes no sound at all. Well, but you know, they’re useful for starting fires and can be used as kindling, but drinking is impossible Well, the sun is already setting, so I’ll hope for rain to come Rain has finally started falling. Man, it was a long wait for the rain to come I tried pretty hard to build walls too, but didn’t make it in time Probably quite a bit of rain will come pouring in But rather than not being able to drink water having rain fall is way better I wonder if about 3 liters will collect – all I can do now is pray It really looks like rain is coming, so I’ll set up another water collection system If I set up this many water traps surely about 3 days’ worth of water should collect Those are some serious clouds Man, I’m excited It’s really cloudy I’m sure some serious rain will fall After that, night fell in no time Rain is starting to fall bit by bit, but the wind is really strong, so it’s really coming in Until dawn breaks I can’t do anything Let’s just endure for now The sea is also really rough, so just getting close seems dangerous That’s it for today. Good morning It’s day 4, 8:24 AM Not much rain fell With this amount of rain I’ll definitely die. Probably no water collected either. If any collected it’s like 5 milliliters, or not even 5 milliliters Probably like 2 milliliters. Man, things aren’t going well I don’t know what the reason is for anything anymore, but I have a terrible headache and feel awful, but Alright, let’s go see how much water has accumulated Good, there’s about a cup’s worth I’m going to check right away if rainwater has accumulated Nothing has accumulated at all Ah, seriously? Why isn’t it raining? Ah, from the look of the clouds I thought it would rain heavily I thought I’d be able to drink lots of water from today Seriously? Let me change strategy. I can’t survive relying on rain I’m going to get lots of turnips now Let’s get hydration from turnips I’ll pull myself together and go get turnips Turnips grow wild beyond two cliffs If I slip, it’s a life-threatening height I’ll walk carefully Man, on the first day I could walk the cliffs without any trouble, but What a hairstyle Well, whatever. Just taking one step at a time is exhausting. Found them! Lots of turnips Ah, they’re far. Let me eat one first I’m dying of thirst. Ugh, it’s small. Oh? This one is big I think the stem part probably contains water too It’s full of water. This is good – it’s less spicy than turnips and I can get lots of hydration This is quite good. As for fiber it uses energy to digest and can’t be digested, so I’ll spit it out I’m feeling a bit better, so Whoa, I could survive here for 10 days with this Why didn’t I notice this before? This has tons of water I’ve only had three types of hydration sources so far The worst tasting was banana stem, second was turnip, and third was spring water Well, spring water tasted the best, but this is the best I can get tons of hydration. The stems are quite thick, and one stem probably has about 30-40cc I think I think I can manage I should probably wash it, but I can’t wait I can’t take it anymore. Well, I’m saying it’s good now, but taste-wise it’s like extremely bad green juice Well, green juice is food though Let me bring as much as possible back to base Alright, this much should last about a day and a half Now that I’ve hydrated properly I’ve recovered a bit, so I want to explore that side over there, so let me try exploring There’s an amazing pond! I wonder if I can get down there? I don’t think the pond water is very clean, but it would be good if there’s a stream flowing into the pond I wonder if I can somehow get down there? Whoa It’s quite wide! Whoa, there are ducks too I’d like to eat some duck. Anyway, there doesn’t seem to be a path I can take down, so I’ll return to base for now Having a pond is quite significant – it opens up possibilities Even regular drinking water, you know, I’m getting it from the pond So if I can make use of the water here it’s practically a done deal After a round trip of about an hour, I’ve finally returned! Alright, I’m back The sea is rough again today Now then I’ll sort them into roots and leaves I got quite a lot! Hmm, isn’t this incredibly big? This is amazing, isn’t it? It’s as big as a regular radish It’s huge! I thought it was beach radish, but this isn’t beach radish Beach radish doesn’t get this thick Alright, now that I’ve finished sorting let’s move on to the next task Now then If I just store these leaves as they are, they’ll just dry out, so let’s create a system to extract the moisture I’ll use this blue bucket I’ll put the green leaves in here And I’ll stand a plastic bottle here About in the middle I’ll put a stone in so it doesn’t fall over Now then I’ll cover this with plastic from above Ah, is it too small? No, it’ll work The wind is strong and it’s hard to work I continued working for about 20 minutes, but the wind is strong and things aren’t going as planned Combined with hunger and fatigue, my irritation is building up If there were two people this would be easy, but Ah, this is irritating The wind is blowing like crazy Ah, damn, this is really pissing me off What should I do? This is impossible – what a shitty task Stress is building up. Despite being irritated, I don’t give up and continue working Now then Here, I’ll place small stones like this at the position where the plastic bottle is Then the water that comes out from the leaves will collect in this plastic bottle And finally, water without any strange taste Proper water that we can drink But this also needs time to pass So we can’t do anything yet Next, let’s eat turnip. When turnips are grilled, the spiciness goes away So let’s grill and eat it It’s definitely going to be delicious Well then, let’s make turnip cuisine I’m too hungry and have no strength left Now that I think back I’ve hardly eaten anything. Well, from day 6 I’ll use the sea So I should be able to eat lots of fish But I can’t go in the current sea It’s quite rough So anyway Today’s menu is turnip steak What I want to eat most right now Is to put steak on rice and wolf it down, so Let’s eat turnip steak It should be juicy and delicious Let’s make steak with this biggest, finest turnip This was lying around A cutting board, everything’s lying around. Cut off the roots so the heat passes through easily Slice it a bit thin Ah, it fell. Isn’t this the best? I think it probably contains sugar or something. I want sugar I want to eat steak. Now this Place it on the frying pan My hands are black and dirty But it doesn’t matter anymore Once we’ve come this far, let’s set it up Ah, cook faster! I’m so excited, can’t it cook faster? Well, turnips Have a lot of water content So they help with hydration And we can also get energy It’s the perfect ingredient Though it has almost no calories But I can’t go in the sea It’s really rough right now Probably another tropical low pressure system has formed somewhere today too Can’t it cook faster? I can’t wait anymore I’m eating it. The thin one is still quite spicy But I feel like the sweetness has increased. Should I grill more? Even with cup ramen, if it says 3 minutes, I can only wait 2 minutes I’ll wait Since we rarely get such good turnips, let’s wait The turnip steak is cooked Sweet, juicy, sweet Excellent! I don’t usually like turnips though But it’s delicious I was enjoying my turnip steak but The rain and wind got really strong The wind is really strong, wind speed Probably around 12 meters per second This place is surrounded by cliffs so It doesn’t feel that bad but If I went outside it would be pretty dangerous Cold, I thought it was dangerous so I took shelter but The rain stopped right away Yeah, that’s annoying Alright then, the turnips As expected, let’s make salt For now, since we have the chance, what I thought while eating turnips is that having no flavor is really tough if you’re going to eat a lot By the way, yesterday the salt made from The boiling water of seaweed rice cakes Had such a fishy smell and bitterness that I threw it away. Alright! Suddenly a tragedy occurred Damn, the lens broke Worst case, I brought backup equipment so I can manage somehow but Lenses are quite expensive. The strong wind makes the tripod Fall over a lot Well, whatever, can’t be helped. Let’s make salt for now Let’s wait until it becomes salt again Now that we’ve had our meal, let’s start building our base First, let’s make the framework I’ll tie the framework with rope This survival location has almost no shade And the direct sunlight drains our energy I decided that building a roof was necessary A clove hitch Gets tighter the more force is applied to it So basically it won’t come loose Then I wrap it around By the way, this tying method is called square lashing and it firmly binds posts together It would be troublesome if it fell down So it’s better to tie it as tight as possible Yes, this is how the framework takes shape Alright, there’s not enough long material so I’ll go to the beach for a bit I’ll spend another hour round trip to collect wood materials A lot of garbage has washed up on the beach but There’s hardly any long material lying around It probably breaks while drifting to shore Alright, let’s get going Just the framework, we need materials If there were plenty of them lying around Well, with 3 hours I could make something decent But just bringing that wood takes about an hour round trip So it’s bit by bit This is the harsh reality Since it got cooler I got my energy back Alright, let’s do this! I should pay a little attention to the length Now let’s connect them rapidly The rain, rain will flow like this If there are no gaps, that is So anyway The framework is complete Well, it’s not bad I think I really wanted to make it with sturdier wood, but there isn’t any so can’t be helped. So anyway Today’s house building ends here. The roof I’ll make tomorrow. It’s just that I’m really hungry and don’t have much strength left So I’ll make a simple trap and target some fish I want to eat fish anyway I’ll collect plastic bottles This one looks good Alright, next I’ll go prepare bait This mysterious spiral shell Alright, let’s make it First I’ll cut this plastic bottle Look at this, it says natural water Whoa, it smells like it hasn’t rotted I’ll cut this I’ll put bait inside this Cover it with this, and when fish enter they can’t escape – that’s the structure And I’ll crush the shells I collected earlier and put them in Maybe by miracle an octopus might enter Put it inside the plastic bottle, maybe I’ll add one more It’ll float like this So I’ll put in stones, close the lid, and it’s complete Let’s set the trap around here I’d like to set it offshore to target big fish But in places with current the trap might get swept away So I chose a tidal Pool surrounded by rocks After setting the trap, all that’s left is to wait Yes, it’s night again today The time is 8:45 It’s midnight Today I’m incredibly Hungry, and that plastic bottle trap Hoping that something might be caught Well, I think I’ll probably pull it up around 3 or 4 AM I hope I can catch some octopus again, I want to eat octopus I want to eat octopus again, should I go to sleep now? And tomorrow, I need to somehow get pond water, I want to drink plain water without any taste It’s getting quite tough This concludes day 4 Good morning Uh, day 5, it’s 4:20 AM Yes, so Right away, let’s try to catch some prey Let’s go hunting Hmm, I hope there’s something Fish, fish, can I scoop them up with the bucket? Oh, I got one! Ah, it escaped! There are so many crabs Ah, slippery, slippery, ow ow ow, I got pinched. I’m also targeting chitons But today, for some reason, there were hardly any out Yes, I’m back Man, today was a poor catch Yes, I’ve been wanting to eat octopus and was looking for octopus Yes, I’m back There was no octopus and it was a poor catch And what I learned today is that when you become extremely hungry Humans get terrible stomach pain, I learned that My stomach hurts so much In about an hour Dawn will break Let’s cook after dawn breaks Well, morning has come Today, for the first time since survival life began, there’s no strong wind blowing, no wind at all It’s nice weather First, let’s go see if any fish got caught in the trap I set yesterday My stomach has been feeling terribly sick this whole time Huh? I need to eat something quickly This is seriously getting tough Is there something caught? No, it looks like something’s caught! Whoa whoa whoa wait, there’s a fish caught! Oh no, something’s caught! Oh no! My excitement is going through the roof! Yes! Amazing! Honestly, I didn’t think fish would get caught with such a simple trap I’m surprised myself Wow, amazing But only one, well, the ones that didn’t catch anything Let’s put them back in again Wow, yes! During last night Salt was also made This remaining liquid is probably bitter Let me try tasting it Yeah, it’s probably bitter, I think They say it’s used when making really bitter tofu Well, there’s no use for it so I’ll throw it awa- Wow, didn’t the salt turn out really good? It’s white and wow, it’s been so long since I ate something with flavor – salt This is amazing, should I evaporate a bit more moisture? It’s a bit wet I’m getting burned here and there now but I don’t even think about it anymore, alright, is this good? As expected, the second time is much better than the first time It’s totally salt Seaweedy The salt from the seaweed tasted like absolute crap Look, the pot is incredibly hot, it’s completely hardened The pot has changed color Well, this should be enough, I got about 5 days’ worth Alright then, let’s start cooking This is a type of goby I don’t know what kind of goby But these are delicious when fried I should have brought oil, potato starch, and flour I really want to eat fried food, but this time I want to work with what I have Isn’t this just a regular goby? Well, I’ll just gut it Honestly, the birds are noisy Ugh, I want to eat sparrows, I feel like I could catch sparrows if I got serious I’ll simply grill them Also, mantis shrimp, crab, and something that looks like a surf clam This isn’t a surf clam I think the tree sap water I prepared yesterday might be ready Let me go check Let me see how much water has collected by opening it Ugh, I tied it too tight and can’t open it, this is shocking All these survival techniques and stuff The people who said this should purify it Drinking something like this What’s the point, it’s over It wasn’t even a mouthful And it tastes like tree sap anyway, if this is the case It’s much better to keep chewing stems like I have been for water intake Today I’ll use these tree leaves To make something like steamed grilling Like this Hmm, should I have cut it? There’s something called waterless cooking, right? I’m thinking if I do this, the water won’t seep out How about this? If this becomes like a pot I’ll be satisfied, well then let’s wait patiently There’s no lid so I’ll cover it with a random stone, isn’t this good? It’s a bit scary so I’ll add seawater, yes it’s complete It’s hot so let’s eat in the shade Man, it’s seriously hot. The direct sunlight is intense. Here I go. It’s almost exactly the taste I expected. The fish, the fish is… Where is it? Whoa, it’s all falling apart. Here I go. Ah, fish after such a long time. It’s delicious. Mantis shrimp must definitely be delicious. Ah, mantis shrimp is so damn good. I want to eat a whole bowl of it. Well then, I’ll eat the turnip too. Ah, the turnip is incredibly delicious. The turnip with soy sauce is revolutionarily delicious. It’s like oden, so good! But yesterday, when I tried eating turnip, I realized that sugar is really important. Just eating sugar makes you feel much more energetic. Though the sugar content in turnips is limited. Well then, let’s go with the limpet next. Limpet, well, I’ll crack this open to eat it. Here we go! It’s hard! Sand, it’s full of sand. The limpet liver is delicious. Actually, it’s not delicious at all. It’s desperately bad. Well then, I’ll eat the meat. Yeah, the meat is good. Oh, let’s eat this crab too. Let me try cracking it open today. Remove the apron, and this should come off too. Hot, hot, super delicious. The shell is quite hard though. Just eat the meat and spit out the shell. Well then, thank you for the meal. From tomorrow I’ll use the forest, so the food shortage is avoided. I endured well for 5 days. Today, I’m thinking of getting water from the pond I saw yesterday. Right now, I can only cook by boiling or grilling with seawater, so there are no other cooking methods. Well, I need water. But today is hot, tremendously so. The direct sunlight is hitting this area that’s cut off from view. You can see the incredible light coming out, right? It’s hot. Shall we go? The pond. The pond is beyond three cliffs. The direct sunlight is harsh, but since I failed to secure water, there’s no choice. Oh, but there’s a path going down. Can’t I get to the pond this way? Oh, whoa, there’s bulky waste dumped here. I reached the pond. Amazing, there’s even a boat. Well, I finally made it. Finally, I can get proper drinking water. Thank goodness, phew. Finally on the 5th day. Well then, let me get as much as possible and head back. Yes! There aren’t many places to put my feet. Finally got it. I’ll use the plastic bottle that drifted to the shore. Yes! Water! And it’s really clear, more than I thought. Oh, and there are ingredients here. This place might be the best. Can you see there are ingredients? These are ingredients. There are some over there too, yes That’s 3 of them, we got ingredients These giant snails can carry bacteria called liver and blood clot pillars that can cause infection And there’s a possibility of death, so Everyone should avoid touching them with bare hands, but there’s nothing I can do now so I’m touching them with bare hands Alright, I somehow got them, let’s go back To the base, it’s so hot, I seriously want to drink water quickly Here we go, so we’ve returned to the base That was seriously hell Even though Walking in this blazing sun is already tough It’s super heavy and I’m exhausted Now it’s been about 5 days without a bath, thinking back Until the 4th day, I had absolutely no spare time and washing my body I had completely forgotten about it When you’re in seawater You’re freed from that incredible heat so I stayed in for a while It really feels refreshing My spirit has returned quite a bit Mental state might be the most important thing for survival, well anyway, one bottle of water This is heavy, 2 bottles, 3 bottles Well, how much in total? About 7 liters I got So this survival is practically cleared We’ve got water and food now So we’re set But being in the sun is really hot and hellish so I’ll sleep for a while Until it gets cooler Because of this lifestyle I’ve become able to sleep anywhere Haah Actually, seawater is really good for atopic dermatitis, there’s even something called thalassotherapy Where sea bathing is recommended When you enter the sea The salt content of the seawater Creates a film on the body surface making it less likely to dry out, apparently Yes, I also Now that you mention it I had mild atopic dermatitis But since becoming a fisherman, it hasn’t recurred even once Look, my hands used to be really rough And such, so It was the best bath Well, I slept and took a bath And it’s gotten cooler too so Shall we eat the escargot giant snails? They’re huge, should I wash them? We have plenty of water Put water in this, there’s not much They’re really hated to this extent, you know Well, this is my first time eating them too I wonder how they are? Are they delicious? I don’t know, but There’s quite a bit of meat, so It’s valuable protein Well then, while the shells are cooking, let’s filter water And make drinking water. Alright! This filtration device that I’ve used several times before – I’ll filter water with this Water is coming out Well, it’s slightly yellow, but I’ll boil and disinfect it from here I don’t think the jumbo snails are inedible Since I’ve been lying on the ground the whole time My back hurts Ah damn, even though they have names like jumbo snails and such There’s hardly any meat They shrank incredibly They’re not delicious at all – bad texture, slimy, no taste They smell like tofu, incredibly Awful. Even if you’re really hungry, awful things are awful They’re awful. They taste like something my body rejects Not delicious. Well, but it’s protein anyway, so I’ll eat it I thought it would be quite delicious, so It’s disappointing. I think they’d be delicious if you removed the mud, salted and seasoned them, but boiled plain they’re not delicious at all. Look at this This yellow juice-like stuff is coming out Black, black. The second one isn’t delicious either. Yes Well, the jumbo snails were A disappointing result, but Let’s make water It’s the long-awaited water It’s hot now, so I’ll stay still in the shade again I’m starting to want to go home a bit Day 5, there are still 5 days left I’ll do my best Just a little more. The amount has decreased tremendously. Yes, water It’s really brown. Probably the color from the pot is dissolving Hot, hot. It tastes the same as the spring water Probably the metallic taste from the pot is dissolving For some reason, this water had a taste that my whole body rejected It was probably because I used the pot without washing it Nothing went well today either I’m honestly getting mentally exhausted Honestly, I’m kind of okay with the food situation now, but water is tough Why did such a huge storm come and no rain fall? I’m unlucky Well, can’t be helped. 5 more days I’ll do my best with this I want water I can gulp down It tastes really awful, so there’s one more thing I want to do Amazing! My favorite food was there Let me go get some earlier, please look My favorite food, oysters Got an oyster! Delicious! I don’t know what this is but it’s so good! The other oyster, let’s grill it Well, even that water is better than not drinking anything you know Wow, cold oyster Let’s eat. I really love oysters. Should I crack it? Here I go So incredibly delicious! Oysters are on a different level. There were only 2 at most though Unexpected heavy rain, looks like it’ll stop soon though, not that heavy actually I thought I could drink the rainwater but it stopped right away Now I’m going to collect materials for building the base and sleep today I think At night there’s no cameraman so honestly I really think I should have bought an infrared camera for filming I really think that but there’s nothing I can do about it now well, there’s no footage or anything but now I’m going to collect roofing materials relentlessly and tomorrow I’ll build the roof and tomorrow night I think I’ll go fishing Well, I could go during the day too but at this time of year you have to dive about 15 meters deep or you can’t catch anything I probably can’t hold my breath that long so I’ll go at night Since yesterday I’ve been incredibly hungry, and basically I’ve only been getting protein I want to eat a chunk of fat and carbs. I’m hungry All I’m thinking about now is what to eat when this survival life is over What I want to eat most is McDonald’s Chicken Crisp until I puke, wash it down with Coke Well, there’s no McDonald’s on the island though I do want to eat Chicken Crisp Well, today I secured water so somehow the survival feels like it’s cleared Tomorrow when I build the roof, a comfortable life awaits. Even so every night I hold the light in my mouth like this and move around I wish I had brought a headlight but I don’t have one so I do it like this This way both hands can move. Alright, shall I go collect materials? Alright then I only made one round trip in the end but day 5 is over. Going to sleep Tomorrow, I’ll finally be able to eat fish I’m looking forward to it Well, probably the sea is quite rough So I think I’ll be targeting small fish, but even if they’re tiny, I want to eat fish, so Today is day 6 My whole body is itchy For some reason I think it’s probably because of the ants Today I have incredibly happy news Last night, it rained so hard that I woke up from the sound of the rain Well, here the rocks act as a rain shelter So I didn’t get wet myself But a lot of rainwater has collected Finally I can drink normal water I’m so happy Rainwater doesn’t need to be boiled for disinfection, right? By the way, it’s getting a bit rough, but I think I can go in the sea today Well, during the day I don’t have energy so I won’t dive But if I can get outside the coral reef Like Yakou shells Or if I can spear Chlorurus microrhinos Sujara or grouper-type fish Can also be caught Well, Sujara are quite rare though Maybe I can eat big fish, well even so They’d be about 5 kilos Porcupinefish too There are big ones outside, the large ones can be 10 kilos I’m looking forward to it I’m incredibly hungry though Let’s drink some water for now Oh no! Whoa! Water! Whoa! It’s proper water! It tastes a bit metallic but whoa! Amazing! Yes! This is incredibly delicious! What is this! Liberation from drinking water and shellfish water! Whoa! And Over there too, there’s a huge amount of water collected! This one doesn’t taste metallic! Amazing! I’m getting emotional! Hahaha, to be able to drink water satisfyingly in this survival life Ah, that’s good, it’s been a long time Up to this point was

Let me collect water in this red bucket Amazing, there’s 15 liters! Alright! Ah, it’s been long, finally on day 6, I’ve been wanting to eat something other than salt-boiled things Well, now that I’ve quenched my thirst Let’s start building a base This long one and the one over there are what I brought yesterday. This long one was quite difficult Alright, let’s make a roof Okay, let’s make them the same length for now I thought 10 days would be totally manageable but just cutting wood like this makes me incredibly out of breath I’m incredibly hungry. Let’s just keep going Honestly I want to sleep already, but my strength decreases day by day so I’ll keep moving as much as I can. Alright, so I’ll put two frames here like this Really, four would be better, but I don’t have enough so I’ll go with two There’s so much debris you can’t find a place to step but there’s almost no wood that can be used for building I want to tie this as sturdy as possible I think most people aren’t very interested in rope work but by putting a wedge like this here and tying it this way this part gets tightened much stronger so this part gets tightened much stronger and then I’ll cut off this excess part Alright, let’s keep going Okay, so I’ve finished tying the two but I’m too hungry and have no strength left so let’s have breakfast Today it’s turnip and boiled sea snails First, let’s go get the sea snails I decided to go get periwinkles These shellfish don’t like seawater so you can collect them without going into the sea With my strength depleted this is the perfect ingredient right now Alright, let’s cut the turnip I didn’t want to use a knife for eating but since I got fresh water today, I’ll use the knife The saying that humans die if they don’t eat for 7 days might actually be true. From day 6 it’s really gotten tough Even in this extreme state, constantly changing camera angles is what YouTubers have to do But I won’t wash the cutting board – too much trouble Normally I’d sterilize it with boiling water and bleach Now let’s put them in Ah, oh no, oh no, something really bad happened, no This looks the most like actual cooking so far. I wonder if it’ll be ready soon? I’m incredibly hungry It’s fortunate that I can get sugar from the daikon radish. Without sugar it’s really tough. What did I eat yesterday?

Two oysters and giant freshwater snails, and in the morning turnip leaves and a stir-fry with fish and crab I wonder how many calories that was? I don’t think it’s even 400 calories. The dish I’m making now is quite high in calories too. I want to catch some fatty fish. Speaking of fatty fish on this island, it would be Madara Tarumi or Kime Fuedai that I can catch by diving. Both can’t be caught at night, only during the day. I wonder where they go at night. To be honest, I want to eat the sparrows and crows that are around here. Pigeons would be fine too. I just want to roast them whole and devour them voraciously. I’d probably eat them down to the bones. Right now… ugh, I’m at the limit of hunger. I got water, but it’s still not enough. Well, fortunately I’m totally fine being alone and in complete darkness at night, so I think that’s okay. Though I prefer three people, that’s my favorite. Three people… I don’t want to meet anyone or anything like that at all anymore. I just want to eat food. I want sugar. I want to eat white rice or bread. I also want fat. Something like that. Speaking of sugar, I heard you can eat sotetsu nuts, but you have to soak them in water for about 10 days because they’re poisonous if you don’t. I was thinking of eating them initially, but no, survival would be over while soaking them in water. I haven’t eaten anything. There’s a lot of this in miso soup. It’s hard to see with the backlight, but there’s steam. Damn, I can’t mix it properly. It’s not boiling at all though. Ah, this tastes good! I need to do something about this hunger. I’m already dizzy just from walking. No good, it won’t stop. Should I eat it with salt? Oh salt! I’m so excited I can’t stand it. Adding this salt. Am I allowed to be this luxurious? Thank you for the meal. The cooking level has jumped way up! This is incredibly delicious! What should I do with the turnip? Should I cut a bit more? If I cut it, I’ll have to go get more. It’s delicious. Let me be a bit more luxurious. I’ll go get some water. Backlight… being able to wash down such delicious food with water is amazing. I’m coming back to life. I was saying I wanted to eat a hamburger and stuff like that, but I might be satisfied with this. Boiled turnip with salt, washing it down with water. This is delicious. This is incredible! It’s so refreshing. Just having fresh water dramatically expands the cooking possibilities. This is damn delicious. I might finish before the other turnip is done boiling. There are so many flies swarming around. So annoying. What I’m thinking about now is how I can somehow eat these flies. Because they’re pissing me off. Are they on me again? Now, I wonder if it’s cooked through. The lens broke so I can’t zoom in anymore. Not very delicious. I’ve recovered quite a bit Let’s have the shellfish for lunch Alright, let’s do this Well, we probably don’t have enough materials, but let’s do what we can Before I knew it, the saw had started rusting too The drifting bamboo is thicker than usual ones and quite difficult to cut Next, I’ll cut the bamboo in half with a hatchet It split, but this is all I could get Six pieces, there Now I’ll stack them like this to make a roof Today is all detailed work. The location is too special, I’m starting to lose track of what I’m doing Not this way, this way, this way. Ah, this is called square lashing, this type of knot It’s what I’ve been doing all along but it actually has a name After wrapping the first one, I connect them one by one like this Wow, it tore. The morning sun is fragile too. No way This is an endless task I’d like to do all of this with bamboo Then it would look pretty decent From here on, I think it’s going to look really strange I’ll use various types of wood, so let’s keep going Well, let’s keep cutting away We really don’t have enough lumber I think I’m moving pretty well for myself I’m pretty much at my limit though Maybe because it got wet from the rain the wood was harder to cut than usual that day For now, I prepared four pieces I think I can stretch them quite well. Let’s try it. When you have wide ones like this it’s pretty good Second one, good. Third one, fourth one, good. For now, I made a roof with whatever I had available It’s so shabby. Let’s take a lunch break for now I have no strength left at all I’m so dizzy. Well, let’s eat lunch Tonight I’m going fishing, so I need to build up my strength The sea is rough. I feel like I can barely get outside the coral reef I think Inside the coral reef what do you call it, on the island they call it Tokaja what was it, surgeonfish Basically surgeonfish and yellowtail surgeonfish, and also some Kyphosus vaigiensis and about Taiwan parrotfish is all you can catch. Not yellowtail surgeonfish, striped surgeonfish maybe Well then, let’s extract the shellfish They’re so small. It would be nice if I could get some turban shells I’ll crack these open and eat them Without salt it won’t be delicious. With salt, it’s about not bad, I guess. It’s not delicious, just a subtle taste, but it’s troublesome to add salt each time and wasteful, so I’ll eat it plain. Thank you for the meal. Even so, my stamina is severely depleted. I didn’t think I’d be this unable to move. I’m surprised at myself. Alright! For now, I want to build a roof, so I’ll dive. Just one round trip until night to get materials. Shall I go? Since there are no materials around the base, I’ll spend an hour round trip to get them. Yes, I’m back for now. It’s already quite dark. There was a pretty long and good one there. Ah, my back hurts. Let me prepare and go to the sea. Alright, I’m going to the night sea now. I’m targeting Chlorurus microrhinos. Also, I want to eat something fatty. Well, heading out to the night sea. My stamina is near its limit, so I’ll target fish in a short decisive battle. On this day, fish weren’t coming out to the surface at all, so I actively searched under the rocks. Finally, there’s a fish. This is a big one. Let me dive right away. Slowly approaching. Let’s also watch Masaru’s point-of-view camera. The spear I’m using this time is this spear. Since it has no barbs and comes out easily, I’ll aim directly for the vital point. Hit! Success! It’s a big fish that seems to be just under 2 kilos. This one fish will be food for two days. This fish is Oplegnathus fasciatus. It’s quite a high-class fish. I’ll continue searching under the rocks. The place I’m diving now is about 7 meters deep. Well, it seems I found something again. Starting the approach. Got it! This is a turban shell. It’s like a giant sea snail. I found another turban shell. The waves were still strong on this day, and if you look closely, you can see I’m being rocked back and forth. This is a pufferfish. This pufferfish is poisonous, so it’s not edible. Well, I found another fish. Slowly approaching and hit! Hit the fish when it lost its escape route! This time the spear didn’t hit a good spot, so it’s still about half alive This one is a unicornfish There’s no point in taking too many, so I decided to head back Well, I’m back Oplegnathus fasciatus, unicornfish, and two turban shells Finally a proper meal, while being illuminated by the light When I dive down and look up When I looked up The water surface looked incredibly far away I really panicked, I was so surprised Haha, well, I’m not a big eater So I just kept it to two fish and two turban shells I didn’t bring a cooler box So I can’t preserve them well But turban shells, if you leave them alone They stay alive for about a day So I’m thinking of eating them tomorrow, eating the Oplegnathus fasciatus today and drying the unicornfish overnight Well, I don’t have salt So I don’t know if it’ll work well, but I’m thinking of drying and eating it If I make it crispy, it should work The Oplegnathus fasciatus’s belly is so plump At this time of year, it shouldn’t be eggs or milt This must be visceral fat, it’s been a while Since I can eat fat, I’m so excited Just thinking that I can eat something Made me incredibly energetic, my stamina Should have reached its limit long ago Amazing, such energy is overflowing What should I do with the Oplegnathus fasciatus? First, sashimi and salt-grilled for sure Wow, I’m so excited, look, look This Oplegnathus fasciatus is quite impressive, isn’t it? Like this, I think the area around the mouth has turned white Oplegnathus fasciatus, when they grow The area around their mouth turns white, what do you call it The spotted pattern This one still has quite a bit But the spotted pattern also fades away And the ones that turn white Are sometimes called Kuchijiro Well then, let’s first remove the scales But Oplegnathus fasciatus Is quite an expensive, high-class fish It’s like gambling with this fish Honestly, when it’s good, it’s incredibly delicious But when it’s bad It’s bad, it has a smell With these strong jaws, they eat anything so depending on what they eat, the smell changes If they eat smelly things they become smelly, but when you salt-grill them the smell and everything eventually disappears so it doesn’t really matter. With sashimi though you can really tell. Ugh this Oplegnathus fasciatus doesn’t taste good. I want a pressure washer. By the way if you bought this size Oplegnathus fasciatus in Tokyo, it would probably cost about 4,000 yen. The amount that comes to fishermen is really small though. It’s the 6th day and I’m getting used to survival life Well, sleeping on the ground was somewhat unpleasant but now I don’t think anything of it. If I had one request I’d want a seat, like a chair There’s nothing to sit on like this and there’s a lot of heavy labor, so my back hurts If I could sleep, a seat Well, with Oplegnathus fasciatus it’s actually a type of fish that improves with aging so letting it rest for 3-4 days is what I prefer, but I can’t let it rest so it can’t be helped. What a waste. I want to make it into fried chicken but salt-grilling also looks delicious Salt-grilling is definitely tasty. There’s still some left. It’s Oplegnathus fasciatus The scales are hard to remove I wonder how to remove them easily An eternal challenge Well then, let’s look at the internal organs The cutting board is small. Ah, might be a bad type. It’s a good type! Look at this

Plenty of visceral fat. Visceral fat. Visceral fat is here! Wow, I can get fat from this! Wow, awesome! As I said the eggs are small It’s not egg season after all. But it’s been eating sea urchin Fish that eat sea urchin are usually smelly Now let’s prepare it Wow, I’m excited First, I’ll remove the head and grill the head. Whoa did I cut too far? The cutting board is small and hard to work with Now I’ll split the body It’s surprisingly hard. The cutting board isn’t stable so I can’t put force into it. Open! Heave-ho There are still some organs left Here I’ll spend a long time rubbing salt into it I say rubbing but I mean sprinkling it on. OK! Now what should I do with this? Should I stick it in from around here? I think this is good like this I’m going to grill this! Let’s grill it first! It’s definitely delicious! I want to bite into this right now Yes, this is exactly what I mean Wow, this looks so delicious, this is the best, can you understand? It’s so fresh it’s still twitching Alright then, let’s make some sashimi First, I’ll make a cut from the belly like this Alright, so from here the microphone was turned off So I’ll do narration Man, it was really, really so fresh that it was trembling like this, it was amazing It was hard to cut Since I don’t have much to talk about As a side note, I used to think that humans in extreme situations would find even bad food Tasty Actually it was half correct And half incorrect Things I didn’t think were particularly delicious felt incredibly delicious But for things with smell or bitterness My taste became more sensitive and they tasted even worse So seawater and banana peels… they were worse when I had them in extreme conditions Alright, now I’ll remove the belly bones Ah, that’s a bit of a mistake Well, I’ll grill and eat the belly bones too, so it’s fine And now I’ll remove the backbone I’ll cut to leave as much meat as possible Wow, looking at this now I’m really putting a lot of force into my hands And now I’ll remove the skin This is for sashimi Fresh fish has great texture So I’ll cut it into small pieces By the way, it goes without saying that I snacked on it while cooking Since the microphone wasn’t recording during the sashimi scene This is recorded afterwards Now, let me try this exquisite sashimi with salt to see if it’s delicious Ah, it’s delicious, it’s delicious but There’s still that fishy smell You know, sashimi is a dish that Directly highlights the fishy smell It would be better to cook it with heat Like what I’m doing now Salt-grilled, simmered, or fried would be better Wow, it has the perfect grilled color, it’s definitely going to be delicious, alright, let me try it Ahh, seriously? Is it this delicious? It’s too delicious, it’s delicious, well this might be a cliché expression but This is the most delicious salt-grilled fish I’ve ever had in my life, was it this morning? Or was it yesterday? I’ve already forgotten It makes saying salt with kelp was delicious seem ridiculous It’s so delicious, it’s insanely good, incredibly delicious, what is this? It’s stupidly Delicious, my stomach is hurting because it’s shocked by the sudden meal, man it’s delicious, it was so delicious After eating the head I became incredibly sleepy, and my stomach has probably shrunk I can’t eat that much It’s Ishigaki It was so delicious – I was able to get the fats I’d been lacking for these 6 days, so I’m really grateful. Fish fats contain EPA and DHA and stuff They’re made of unsaturated fatty acids They’re supposedly really good for your body. Sorry for the rough information, but One thing I can say is that DHA and EPA Won’t make you smarter, I don’t think. People who make effort become smarter, so That’s what I think I need to process these fish And handle them so they don’t rot Let’s process them and sleep. Alright, let’s do this Okay, next I’ll fillet this unicorn tang Unicorn tangs don’t have scales, so I’ll make cuts in the skin like this before filleting It’s quite a delicious fish, but On the island, somehow, they don’t sell About 10 yen each. Nobody takes them Even though they’re delicious, I wonder why. They’re easy to fillet too, I always think The structure is like a filefish Probably peels off… eh, it won’t peel? How can that be? Ugh, it’s too fresh so it won’t peel. No good Let’s cut off the head Amazing intestines. It probably eats seaweed and stuff The skin is quite hard Like shark skin Super rough The knife doesn’t go through easily from the surface Once I get this far The rest is easy It’s twitching so much I think I can probably go like this now A relatively easy fish. I filleted it cleanly And the other side is the same It’s twitching so much Ah, I’m clumsy Well, that’s fine Alright then, I’ll make overnight-dried fish Normally you soak it in concentrated salt water and then dry it, but I don’t have much salt left, so I’ll soak it in seawater for a while and then dry it It’s better than not soaking it at all I’ll soak it like this for about 15 minutes The salt-grilled fish was so delicious, so I’ll salt-grill this meat too Today I’ll eat this salt-grilled fish and sleep Ah, being able to have seconds This is the best Well, even though I say “dry” I don’t really have anything proper to dry it with, so I’ll tie it up with string Lots of flies are going to gather around this Oh, it looks pretty good, doesn’t it? Alright, it’s done I’m making good use of it, don’t you think? I’m looking forward to it I’m thinking of making Masu-ni and regular grilled overnight dried fish I’m planning to make those Even if I make Masu-ni, the bottom part might rot There’s that possibility So I’m doing it like this So then Shall we eat the Ishigakidai and go to sleep? Alright, let’s dig in Mmm, delicious! But fish is amazing – just eating it gives me so much energy Tasty! It’s like it’s become smoked, it’s delicious Well, it’s the back part So it doesn’t have that much fat But this one is refreshing in its own way Day 6 is now complete Today, I think I was able to live a somewhat satisfying life for the first time There’s like a sense of ease, you know. This angle is really hard to film with the camera and lighting. I also got some roofing done And secured some fish too Man, it was a good day For the first time, I can sleep on a full stomach I’m so happy! So then Day 6 is complete Good morning Today is day 7 Man, I’ve been here for quite a while now I’ve gotten pretty used to survival life But sleeping on the ground just makes my back hurt terribly Let’s have breakfast for now The overnight dried fish Turned out better than expected. No flies swarming around it either Today Let’s use this Today I’m going to eat this most delicious belly part I’m going to eat this All these white parts are fat, you know Isn’t that crazy? I’ll pierce this with the knife. This knife is totally clean This knife I’ll grill it with this Amazing! Oil is dripping down. All this dripping down is oil Wow, looks delicious! It’s done Ishigakidai belly overnight dried fish – delicious! By the way, the belly is the fattiest part of the fish And the most delicious part. Well, the bones Are like this, how should I put it They’re arranged like spare ribs, making it hard to eat It gets thrown away quite often, but It’s seriously delicious! Tuna belly fat is also belly meat, you know Since I dried it overnight The umami components came out a bit And since the moisture was removed The umami components are concentrated and it’s definitely more delicious But there’s still a bit of fishiness from fish that eat sea urchins Also, fish that eat seaweed smell bad. Thank you for the meal Breakfast is over You really shouldn’t eat too much fatty food All at once, you know Fat is made of fatty acids and glycerol, and when it’s broken down It becomes fatty acids and glycerol Glycerol has A slight laxative effect So it gives you diarrhea Like after eating ramen with incredibly thick back fat Or after eating Large amounts of fatty meat, don’t you get stomach problems? That’s it – eating Jiro definitely gives you stomach problems I wonder how everyone handles Jiro… I think about half the people understand But whatever, you get it. Anyway Today we have both water and food ready So let’s improve our base. My back is quite sore For recovering from fatigue This is the most important thing, so let’s do it I was spreading sand like this But it falls down below And stones keep coming up to the surface pretty quickly Well, for now I only spread sand on the upper body side But today I’m thinking of Spreading it on the lower body side too My feet hurt, you know Let’s remove the stones that are too big. Stuff like this. Alright! Well then, let’s go collect some sand. Even so I’m sleeping in quite an amazing place if I do say so myself. Let’s collect it Today’s sand is soggy from the rain But it will probably be dry by bedtime By the way, sleeping on sand Significantly drains your body heat To prevent losing body heat It’s good to lay down plants But there aren’t any suitable grass or trees nearby This was a problem with choosing the base location But there’s nothing we can do about it now At first This wasn’t heavy at all But now it’s incredibly heavy. I’m making quite the strained face I think it’s about 15 kilos It’s incredibly heavy, really hard labor. I think I’ll carry it about 2 more round trips. Alright! It’s gotten much better now Yes, so now that the bed is done I’ll prepare lunch and make a roof For now, let’s take the striped beakfish It’s dried quite nicely Even thin slices work well, surprising I’ve never filleted overnight-dried fish before, but I’ll try filleting it I wonder if I can fillet it. I can do it, I can do it The knife goes in. Now let’s do the belly too The belly is hard. Like this, I’ll remove the rib bones Okay, looks good Now here, let’s remove the rib bones The cutting board is all bumpy now, making it really hard to cut I’ll just grill this belly side normally This back side I’ll make into salt-boiled fish It’s better if it’s easy to eat, so let me cut it up Oh, looks good Yes, perfect The rib bones and bloodline bones I removed earlier These will also go into the soup The backbone too, of course What should I do? I usually use scissors for this, so I’ll aim for the joints The fins are hard, so it’s too much trouble, so I’ll do this As long as I hit the joint it breaks like this This should be fine Then the remaining unicorn filefish and others I’ll also make into salt-boiled soup The unicorn filefish looks good too Then I’ll add rainwater here I’ll add seawater bit by bit later to adjust the taste Alright, let’s boil it Should I add a bit more water? Now let’s keep going steadily I want to finish the roof by tomorrow Since I ate the striped beakfish my power level has really increased. Today, alright, let’s put up the roof. By the way Rocks from the ceiling kept falling and it was annoying, so I urgently wanted to make at least the head part Oh no, the soup is getting ready Once I tie this, let me go check the soup. Next, next – it’s really boiling hard Let me try some. Thank you for the meal It’s delicious but has no flavor. Adjusting the seawater and fire is really difficult If you start with seawater from the beginning It was going to be incredibly spicy, so I boiled it in fresh water, but Let’s add seawater for now. OK, this is the seasoning. Now then, let’s add some flavor. There’s so much oil floating on top. Amazing! Wow, such a gentle flavor, delicious! This is my first time trying seawater boiling, but Well, “maasu-ni” means seawater boiling. Such a gentle flavor. And this belly of the stone bream that I thought would be bland – oh no, it’s delicious! Who would have thought the day would come when I could eat two proper meals a day? I still have the night shellfish, so there’s dinner too. The unicorn tang is wonderful too. I’m eating it. The unicorn tang – I think the skin is probably tough, right? Ah, the skin is a bit off. It’s gritty. Whoa, delicious! Look! In terms of price, the stone bream is much more expensive, but The unicorn tang is totally delicious too. It has no strong taste and is easy to prepare. I think it’s quite a good fish, but Stone bream is said to be prone to ciguatera poisoning, but it’s still a luxury fish. I wonder why. The chances of getting poisoned are quite low anyway. Honestly, wow, delicious! Now that I’ve filled my stomach, let’s keep working on the roof. I want to finish this one row quickly. It’s really starting to look like a roof now. How many times have I shown this work? This is called the “clove hitch” knot. Did I mention that? I don’t think you need to tie it super tight, but I’m a worrier. Well, this is how it turns out. The flies are incredible. This is annoying – I need an axe. Yes, like this. This is how it works. Alright, last one. There’s a bit of a gap which looks ugly, but it’s fine. Good! One-third of the roof is done. It’s really starting to feel like a house. Looks good, though the construction is shoddy. A strong gust would blow it away in an instant. Now I need to cover this middle part, but I can’t tie it with rope as it is. Ugh, ants are swarming. Let me take refuge over here. Ugh, even though I’ve raised it off the ground, ants are swarming. I can’t tie it as it is, so I’ll place another piece of wood here and lay them out like this. Let’s finish in one hour. I’ll use this long piece of wood. It’s quite damaged and I’m worried about its strength, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I didn’t have any other long pieces of wood. Let’s do it with this We walked quite a bit Really, look, it’s already quite cracked I’m worried about the strength, if it doesn’t work At worst, there was originally no roof Having no roof No one will complain about it Ah, there was no roof after all That’s all. By the way, I was lying down for about 2 hours Because I was tired Really, I’ve lost my stamina. I’ve been lying down so much that the sun is about to set Let’s finish before the sun sets When you eat and laze around You get energized Oh, I want to break it already, I can do it, I can do it Do your best, hehe, alright then, let’s cut the roofing materials one after another You really shouldn’t do this kind of work during the day This kind of physical labor is better done in the evening because it’s hot When you have energy, this work finishes in an instant Even though I struggled so much with it I thought it was hell It’s over in an instant I wasn’t doing anything major. Alright, let’s attach them It doesn’t seem like there’s nearly enough, but I finished cutting all the materials I collected Alright, let’s attach them one after another Ugh, the height doesn’t match The bamboo thickness here is too different, so the heights don’t match It becomes like this Hmm, what should I do Well, this is more for shade Rather than rain protection, so it’s fine. Actually Let’s attach from this side It would look cooler if I match it from this side It’s extremely difficult to tie This is good Alright, 2nd piece, 3rd piece, 4th piece, 5th piece. The 4th and 5th pieces are thin, so let’s wrap them together Because it’s troublesome. Oh, it’s gotten quite dark 6th piece. Not nearly enough. It’s like this At least before the sun sets I managed to attach 6 pieces, so that’s good I’ll continue Anyway, today there’s night fishing, so I won’t go diving There’s nothing particular to do I’ll continue Though I don’t have materials I think I’ll run out of things to do soon again Let me do a bit And make dinner Alright, it got dark but let’s keep going There are way too few materials I decided to try processing this sturdy bamboo-like wood into roof boards. I wonder if this will split? I don’t think it will split. Well, I’ll just keep hitting it. The old bamboo cutter is amazing – he was splitting this stuff effortlessly, right? It was quite tough. Alright, let’s attach this to the roof for now. Now, let’s stick it on. This is pretty bent. This is the 7th piece. 8th piece. This is the last one for today. We’re about halfway there. Speaking of physical stamina, for survival, it’s best to just laze around completely during the day and move at night. Especially in hot places like this, the daytime temperature is around 33-34 degrees Celsius, and the direct sunlight is also intense, so just moving a little bit makes you exhausted. It’s better to move at night. At night, on the contrary, it’s very comfortable. On the first day, there was a wind of about 11-12 meters blowing and it was cold, but of course, that kind of wind isn’t blowing anymore, so it’s just right. On day 1, 2, 3, I was moving around a lot during the day, so that wasn’t good. It was really tough. Now, I’m quite settled. I have water and food, and I have the luxury of making a roof. Yes, okay. Yes, the base construction has progressed quite a bit. Hmm, I probably can’t fill up to two-thirds in terms of materials, so I’ll give up at two-thirds. Well then, shall we prepare dinner? Honestly, I ate so much during the day that I’m not really hungry, but the happiness of being able to eat when you’re not hungry – I want to savor that. I had forgotten that feeling for a long time. So tonight, I’ll eat the overnight-dried Nokogiri and Ishigakidai – well, it’s been dried for about 1.5 nights now. Let’s eat them. Huh? Isn’t the head really black? It won’t come off at all. Did it come off? It came off. Wow, it really turned black though. Well, this is the last Ishigakidai. I feel nostalgic about it. I’ll grill this the same way as in the morning. I’ll pierce it with the knife, but this knife is so dull and I haven’t been using it properly, so it won’t pierce through. The fact that I’m heating the knife is already not good. Alright, this is going to be the best dinner I wish I had one more Ishigakidai I didn’t think this overnight drying would work so well I thought it would spoil quickly anyway, so I only made enough to eat right away I only dried two fish and the turban shell But wow, this is delicious I’ll definitely grill this first and eat it, and for the turban shell, let’s quickly remove it and eat it This is going to take some time, you know It becomes like smoked food This fallen wood, I guess you’d call it When you grill directly with regular wood, to put it nicely it’s smoked, to put it badly It’s smoky. The world has good sides and bad sides Yeah, at first when I had no water or food, to put it badly It was smoky, really, it was incredibly tough But now with food and water, when I was finally talking about the year The light went out With food and water This situation might be a bit fun Well, but the rainwater will probably have bacteria growing by tomorrow So I probably can’t drink it without boiling it for sterilization But just having water is good Having water And food too, it’s the best Alright, let’s eat then. Mmm, no matter how many times I eat it, this is delicious, but The skin has dried too much and become hard Mmm, the smoke is incredible, you can’t tell on screen but I haven’t bathed in 7 days now And I’m getting all this smoke So if you met me, I’d be incredibly Smoky. The skin is hard, incredibly Hard, I can’t bite through it I can’t eat this skin. It’s so hard. The grilled head from day one might have been the most delicious, situationally too It was the best I mean, for 5 days I could only eat tiny shells and kelp And then I said I wanted to catch a fatty fish, went in and caught a fatty fish, then grilled it with salt and ate it Yeah, that was moving It’s delicious. Now today The sea is quite rough and I can’t go in But somehow, after eating this It’s just skin now but I’m getting hungry again I’m in the mood to go to the sea one more time But it’s rough The skin is hard but I decided to eat it Now let’s grill the turban shell This is quite a small turban shell It’s called the world’s largest turban shell, and when big, it’s about 3 times bigger, weight-wise about 4 times, but 4 times is too much There aren’t turban shells that big. 2 times, 3 times, is there even 3 times? They do get quite big I want to make this into tsubo-yaki I caught this little one Even though I say little, it’s considerably big compared to a turban shell By the way, Yakougai is written with the characters for “night-glowing shell” and read as Yakougai, but it doesn’t actually glow But if you polish it, it becomes like an opal a beautiful decorative item, so even just the shell can sell for quite a bit It’s a shell whose shell has value Well then, let’s grill it! Sorry to the Yakougai, but I’m going to cook it alive When this opening starts bubbling and boiling that’s the signal it’s done There’s a ton of salt in it Man, I want to eat it soon! It’s definitely going to be delicious Well, this is really supposed to be done by drizzling soy sauce on the shell The shell broth and soy sauce combine with a bang and it’s delicious, but we don’t have any today, so we’ll eat it as is, simple with just the salt flavor Yes, while we were talking, it’s done It’s bubbling like crazy The shell isn’t that hot, so it’s hot It’s not hot, so it’s hot Let me grab it with some trash lying around here. It’s done Yakougai meat is quite tough, so let’s take it out, cut it, and eat it Alright, let’s take it out Whoa, it’s hard! Ah, it’s stuck. It’s hot and I don’t have much experience making tsubo-yaki The lid is stuck Does the lid actually get stuck? Ah, got it, got it! Around here there’s the adductor muscle attached so if you remove that it should come out easily Heave-ho! Yes, I got it out Let’s cut this into small pieces It’s quite big There’s a mouth here This mouth is hard and chewy, so people usually don’t eat it And here are the gills See, people don’t usually eat the gills either Normally. Alright, the rest is edible Such a rough way of preparing Yakougai is pretty rare, but I can definitely say it’s going to be delicious Alright then, let’s eat! Delicious! So good! This is so good! Delicious! Even without any seasoning The flavor of that shellfish, you know? It goes so well together And it has the right amount of salt flavor too The shellfish itself, I think this one piece has about the same amount as 10 turban shells, right? There’s quite a lot and it’s delicious! The texture is really firm So it stimulates the satiety center I was really hungry until just now, but now I feel satisfied And the taste is completely different depending on the part The foot part where it walks like this The protruding part like a slug That part and the adductor muscle have completely different tastes, so it’s not boring. Delicious! It’s good! Well, I’ve finished eating the meat Look at this There’s green turban shell soup Usually I don’t eat this much, but Let me try it This is my first time. Hmm… Well, it was delicious! I’m satisfied now What I learned today is that by some method Preserving food and water is extremely important, because otherwise If you go out to get food every day The whole day ends up being just that Going out to get food and water Going to get water Spending hours getting food, hours cooking Hours doing this and that And then suddenly there’s nothing left to do It ends up being quite tough But yesterday I stored both water and food So today was incredibly fulfilling, really fulfilling I guess I even got to eat three meals It’s important in survival situations I realized how important it is to preserve food. I’m stating the obvious, but I really felt it deeply. Tomorrow I think I’ll try diving during the day Around November when the water temperature drops Fish go to deeper waters And they become more cautious So the question is whether I can catch them by hand in my current condition Well, I’m hoping some pelagic fish will come I’m praying for it Parrotfish are always catchable Regardless of the season They come relatively close I hope by some miracle there might be amberjack swimming around So anyway Let’s go to sleep now. Well then, good night everyone. When I’m not doing survival I usually sleep around 1 or 2 AM, but Somehow, during survival You feel like sleeping when the sun goes down, right? Good morning It’s day 8 Yesterday was incredibly cold, I might have caught a cold So damn cold Well, you know, the bottom is sand, so Like this, it really takes away your body heat Cold, yes So it’s day 8 To be precise, 7 days have ended, so 3 days left Yesterday was just too cold I’m incredibly sluggish, today I’ll go diving during the day Before diving I don’t eat, so just dinner I guess 3 days, so I want to catch enough food for 3 days if possible Something big Big catch, at this time of year It’s squid season Big ones, about 15 kilos There are squid, but I want to catch squid I want to eat squid over 3 days and get through this survival Man, this sand bed is tough, in such a warm place it’s this tough, so In cold regions, sleeping like this would kill you Homeless people putting cardboard underneath, you know I really understand that now That’s incredibly smart I want cardboard Alright, I’m going now Now, heading out for free-diving fishing In extreme conditions I’m worried if I can even dive, but For now, heading offshore The edge of the coral reef is quite rough, but It’ll be fine once I get offshore By the way, offshore I’m targeting grouper-type fish, Yaitohata and Madarahata, those kinds of fish When you dive to about 15 meters depth The fish become relatively less wary Well, a sea turtle came to greet me This sea turtle is probably a green sea turtle Like this, before properly diving I dive a little first to get my body accustomed Another one came Fish become more wary in winter, but Sea turtles don’t seem very wary Now I’ve finally spotted prey The depth is about 15 meters, going down The survival has reached day 8 and I thought I wouldn’t be able to hold my breath at all, but We dove deeper than expected. Now, what is Masaru chasing after? Let’s also look at the camera from Masaru’s perspective. It swam away. About 3 kilos, it’s either a Yaitohata or Madarahata. It was extremely wary. Well, I’m frustrated so I’m chasing after it. There was a sea turtle. Well, since I couldn’t see it, I’m giving up and heading back to the surface. Now I’m diving down one more time. This is, well, I’m diving targeting parrotfish companions. When you stay as still as possible on the seabed, fish come closer to you. That’s the kind of thing I’m aiming for. Music, music… it’s a failure. After this, I dove about 5 more times, but I was really at my physical limit and couldn’t hold my breath anymore, so I moved to shallow waters. Finally, I found prey. I’m slowly approaching. Can you see the fish? Timing it perfectly… Hit! I did it! This is finally my first catch of this trip. This is an Ishigaki-dai. It’s the same fish I caught on day 6. Even in November when fish are highly alert, this fish is relatively easy to spear. It’s my first spear fishing in 2 months, so I hit it in a barely adequate spot, but since I caught it, I was incredibly happy. Now let’s target the next fish. Like this, I slowly approach and when I turn, I stop moving so the fish won’t be startled. Now I’m taking aim and… Hit! But it slipped off. What I just speared was a fish called Nizadai. Unfortunately, it escaped. It seems I’ve found something else. This time, without pulling the rubber, I’ll spear using just the strength of my hand… Hit! Now, what did I spear? This is the Nizadai I speared earlier. Aiming carefully and hitting right in the head! A direct hit to the head. When I caught it earlier, I probably injured its gills and it lost energy. So it weakened and was lying on the bottom. By the way, this kind of thing rarely happens. It’s a miracle! Now, this is a Mizadai This fish has quite a strong fishy smell So I’ll remove the internal organs and gills underwater It also serves as bait So it’s killing two birds with one stone Now I’m finally getting into the groove Let’s target the next fish I’ll wait quietly on the seabed again for fish to approach You can see fish approaching right in front of Masaru I’ll let them get as close as possible Taking aim Hit! This fish is an Ishigaki sea bream It’s one size bigger than the one I caught earlier Now, keeping up this momentum I’ll dive once more Waiting on the seabed again From the upper left of the screen A school of fish is approaching Now, taking aim and hit! Oh, I just grazed it But I won’t give up here I’ll predict the direction the trevally will pass through again And position the spear When the trevally comes back, hit! This time I got it Like this, the trevally goes to the right But then it comes back to the left Now, what fish is this? This is a silver trevally It’s similar to a giant trevally But it’s a different species I’ll hold it down with my foot and perform brain spiking I’ve been wanting to eat trevally for so long I was incredibly happy It’s not that big But it was perfect Now, keeping up this momentum, I’ll target one more fish. Hit! This is a one-stripe parrotfish So After that, on the way back I found some limpets, so I decided to collect them before heading back. Oh no, it’s already nighttime, and it’s cold… Alright! Let’s start cooking now. I never expected it to get dark… Last night was so cold that I ended up with what might have been hypothermia or something, and I was crouched down until past noon. Sunset is around 6 PM, you know. Well, this is about right. But surprisingly, I caught quite a bit. Let me take a look. Heave-ho, heave-ho. This is the fish they say smells bad – the rabbitfish. And these two are striped beakperch. The one I caught the day before yesterday was much more impressive. This one’s small. Look at this, look at this. Have you seen this before? Everyone, this is a bigeye trevally. This is probably my second time eating it. What did it taste like again? And this guy is a bit of an ugly fish, but it’s a one-spot parrotfish. There’s a one-stripe line here, so I think that’s why it’s called a one-spot parrotfish. Oh man, this was my first spearfishing in about 2-3 months, so honestly, I thought I might not catch a single fish with that long spear, but well, I caught a decent amount. Well, I usually use a speargun, you know. This was great. Oh, and I can’t forget these limpets. When I say limpets, I’m talking about the species category, so I think these are probably Matsuba limpets, they’re part of the limpet family. Look, see? They look like abalone and look delicious, right? Let’s make these into steaks. Well, it’s more like grilling them whole than steak. They’ll definitely be delicious. Tonight, what should I cook? I only have salt as seasoning, so there’s not much variety in cooking methods. What should I do? I’ll just eat them casually and make some into overnight dried fish again. Rabbitfish spoils quickly and loses freshness fast, so I should try to consume the rabbitfish today, I guess. Well then, let’s start cooking. Now then, oops, oops, oops – first, let’s remove the scales. Alright, let’s do our best. Starting with the bigeye trevally – wow, there’s so much sand. Let’s remove the scales. Bigeye trevally and these kinds of, how should I put it, horse mackerel family fish have really fine scales that are quite easy to remove. Since it’s a horse mackerel, it has scutes. See how they run smoothly like this? These are the scutes. Today’s school was quite small, but when this school gets bigger they call it a silver trevally tornado It’s incredible, you know, it forms like a tornado shape and creates an absolutely magnificent scenery, apparently I haven’t seen it yet though What did it taste like again? I ate it so long ago that I can’t remember at all. Next, Ishigaki tai. The day before yesterday, I said that when Ishigaki tai grows big, this mouth area here turns white and it’s called kuchishiro The one from the day before yesterday had a white mouth area But this small one doesn’t have a white mouth area, right? It’s still a juvenile This size if you’re going to salt-grill it is just the right size to grill whole Ishigaki tai, the second one. Man, I’m incredibly hungry I haven’t eaten anything since morning On the first day, I was in a nutritionally full state so I could handle hunger easily, but from around the 5th day the level of hunger has seriously increased, like “I need to eat or I’m in trouble” Honestly, I’m lacking nutrition too After diving in the middle, it’s quite tough physically All I can think about now is wanting to eat quickly All I can think about now is wanting to eat quickly Anyway, I’m starving Next is Ichimonji parrotfish. Ichimonji parrotfish females are red and males are bluish, but this one has an intermediate color. Which one is it? Looks like a female though Parrotfish have big scales, you know. They’re hard to remove These scales can also be eaten if you deep-fry them Well, I don’t know how much nutritional value they have but they’d be like a snack Now let’s open the belly Parrotfish innards are like diarrhea Like this. They eat dead coral so they have fine-textured diarrhea Ugh, stinky stinky. Next is Ishigaki tai medium. Oh, it has some visceral fat. What it’s eating looks like shellfish If it’s shellfish, it shouldn’t smell too bad Next, Ishigaki tai medium. The innards were surprisingly clean This one doesn’t have visceral fat Finally, silver trevally. What does silver trevally eat? I think they eat small fish They’re probably carnivorous Here or here… ah, it hasn’t eaten anything and has no visceral fat either Since we’re at it, should we remove the gills too? Alright, this is how it looks Nothing in the stomach Okay, so then The fish preparation is complete Surgeonfish gets smelly really quickly, so In the sea I removed the organs and gills There was quite a bit of visceral fat, so I’m really looking forward to it But I haven’t eaten anything for 24 hours now It’s getting pretty tough So let’s grill some shellfish first I’ll now teach you how to cook shellfish Prepare the shellfish Put them in the pot And finally grill them – that’s it Now let’s continue cooking First the surgeonfish – alright, first I’ll cut off the head The surgeonfish bones are soft Then let’s fillet it like a saury What should I do? I should probably cut off the tail first – cutting off the tail I wonder if the knife will go through the skin? The knife goes through completely I don’t really fillet surgeonfish often So I don’t know how it’ll turn out Ah, I need a lighting person Wow, there’s so much fat But surgeonfish The fat smells bad It has quite beautiful flesh Ah, it does smell – there’s a distinctive fishy smell. I specifically wanted to try this Basically, this fish is said to taste bad and is disliked, but during survival I wonder how it would feel, you know Surgeonfish Is sometimes called “three-character fish” Here These spines There are three of them So I’ll skin it while avoiding these spines This is surgeonfish skin – it has quite beautiful flesh Remove the backbone like this Let’s grill this Alright, next let’s do this silver snapper It looks delicious though Let me try this as sashimi too Well, I don’t have soy sauce So just one piece of sashimi is fine If it’s delicious, I’ll eat a lot of it. This head would definitely be delicious grilled too This is two pieces, I guess I forgot I have to remove these zeago, yes I removed them They’re quite hard Alright, let’s fillet it I’ll also put the knife in from the back side, oh It’s a bit reddish Oh no, I’m getting used to filleting in this environment This is called a gyuto knife Recently I’ve been using a deba knife all the time So I forgot how to use a gyuto I’m finally getting the hang of it I don’t want to touch the cutting board So I’ll cut the sashimi like this, yes let’s eat the silver sweeper sashimi we just caught Just like this, hmm, it’s like yellowtail, yeah, it’s like yellowtail This would have been so much better if we let it rest Today I’ll take this head And salt-grill it to eat The bottom is slippery So I’ll put a towel down Wow, doesn’t this look incredibly delicious I’ll do one side at a time today I think the shellfish should be ready soon It’s quite half-done but Let’s eat it, hmm it wasn’t done at all The reason I’m not eating much sashimi is because sashimi Gets bad if even a little blood gets on it I’d rather eat something cooked, for outdoor cooking, unless there’s at least a water source, I don’t really want to eat sashimi I think I’m a bit too picky about that That’s just me I’m a bit fussy, next is the Oplegnathus fasciatus Yes, Oplegnathus fasciatus, the smaller one I’ll just put salt on this I’ll rub this excellent salt all over it Okay Now I’ll also sprinkle salt on the silver sweeper and surgeonfish Salt-grilling might be my favorite, look at this, it’s pure white This is fat, the surgeonfish has incredible fat I think surgeonfish fat smells fishy I wonder how it’ll be So today I’ll grill and eat this I’m so excited, my first meal in 24 hours, yes it’s looking good It looks incredibly delicious, I’m getting really sleepy Let me try eating it first I don’t really like innards much, I wonder if it’s good, I haven’t eaten limpets much It’s incredibly Delicious, I prefer it without the innards, let’s remove the innards and eat This looks like liver, let me try it Yum It has amazing elasticity and the umami and shellfish essence is incredible Is it similar to abalone? I want to make a comment about how it is, but I haven’t eaten abalone for about 3 years, so I don’t remember what it tastes like The cooking methods are quite different too Now that we’ve finished the appetizer Let’s salt-grill the fish and eat it I’m looking forward to it. Let’s start with the surgeonfish I should have prepared skewers This is the tip of a spear, but It’s such a wasteful way to use it It’s not a good way to use it, but this is all I have so there’s nothing I can do Well, even using it this way, I caught fish I didn’t catch any amazing fish, but it shouldn’t bend This is titanium, so I wonder if it’ll heat up when grilled. I don’t know much about titanium as a metal Well, things like making fire and searching for water were done in a state with absolutely no room to breathe and weren’t fun at all, not even a bit But catching and eating fish is normally fun. Having breathing room is important I really think so. Water was quite challenging this time We did a tremendous amount of trial and error This time we brought incredible filming equipment and had it carried for us to start filming, so once we decided on a base we couldn’t move anymore – that was the system But normally it would be better to search for more rivers, I guess After all, relying on rainwater is quite difficult Well, it worked out somehow so that’s good I wonder if surgeonfish is tasty. It’s incredibly hated – even when caught, nobody buys it Seriously, throughout Japan it’s a fish that’s everywhere with such a wide habitat range but it’s never sold anywhere I said Ishigaki parrotfish was a gamble, but this one has only risk with no return When the smell is terrible, it’s incredibly terrible, and when it’s not, it feels about normal in my experience Once it tasted like gasoline when I ate surgeonfish I wondered what you’d have to eat to taste like gasoline This time when I smelled it it had quite a fishy smell. Wow, oil is dripping and it’s getting crazy. Here I go It’s hot. Huh? It’s tasty though, and there’s not much fishy smell either It might be tastier than the Ishigaki parrotfish Maybe? Huh? This is so damn delicious, this is crazy, crazy! Even without the 24-hour fasting boost, it’s delicious, so good, why is it so delicious? But I gutted it the moment I caught it, so maybe that’s why. Wait a minute, I feel infinite possibilities with this fish. I’ve never had it taste this good before, but it’s so fatty, and the texture is great too, and there’s no fishy smell. It’s incredibly delicious! I’m surprised. If it was this fish, honestly, I could have caught 20 today, right? No, 20 is too much. I could have caught 10. Oh no, I’ve already finished eating it. It was delicious. I’ve only eaten a quarter of it, so there’s still a lot left. For now, I want to try the silver one too. I wonder how the silver one will taste. This is fun, skewering it on this stick and grilling it. I shouldn’t say this, but wow, amazing, something like runny nose is dripping. What is this? It’s transparent so you can’t see it, right? Look, what is this? This fish has no poison, so it’s okay. You know, this situation makes it taste good. Just think about it: Just grilling it on a stick is fun, but on top of that, I hadn’t eaten anything for 24 hours. So I’m at the limit of hunger, and I dove for about 3 hours total, I think. I’m very tired, and this is the fish in that situation. There’s no way it wouldn’t be delicious. But even so, there’s so much smoke. The fish was delicious. The fire is too strong, it’s burning. Well then, let’s eat. Wow, wow, this is delicious again. Unlike the previous fish, this one is fluffy and melty, like a drink. This is wow, this is delicious. The head doesn’t have much meat to eat though. Alright, next is Oplegnathus fasciatus. Where should I skewer it? Perfect. Well, it’s grilled. Let me remove the fins first. Like this. It’s hot, it’s hot. When you remove the fins like this, everyone can bite into it. Wow, delicious! It’s tasty. Wow, this position is tough. Let me sit down. Mm, delicious. Once grilled, the fins come off easily. Mm, delicious. Yeah, I’m satisfied. I didn’t think that fish would be so delicious. I was surprised. Even with the same fish, there’s such a difference in taste. It really depends on the season when you catch them and what the fish have been eating. The taste is completely different. So, well then, I can’t sleep yet Because we don’t have a cooler box So this is the last thing Let’s make all the fish into overnight dried fish and then sleep Alright, let’s do our best! I’m super sleepy but let’s do our best This is seawater For the ones that can be done as is I’ll put them in seawater This is the skin of a surgeonfish… what should I do with the surgeonfish? Maybe I can do it like this as is Let’s do this one as is too, and this one is… what was it again? Silver pomfret, silver pomfret Let’s soak this one for now I think about 15 minutes of soaking should be good It’s arbitrary Now, let’s work on the remaining one, the one-spot snapper The one-spot snapper smells bad, maybe it’s better not to handle it without proper cooking skills It really smells Because I opened the belly of the one-spot snapper The knife smells It’s got that one-spot snapper smell No matter how much I wash it, it still smells, I need detergent There’s nothing I can do about it Alright, let’s remove the head I’ll remove the other side too Ah, it came off, the slime is incredible Now let’s fillet it into three pieces I always cut the tail first I’ll cut the belly side and the skin Let’s slowly insert it I want to insert the knife from the back too but it’s so slimy, it’s slimy and hard to fillet, I’m removing the belly bones It’s so slimy I can’t pull it There’s no choice, it stinks I don’t want to put it together, I’ll do it separately later, sorry it’s somehow Sloppy, let’s quickly do the last Ishigaki snapper Remove the head and from behind the pectoral fin Cut it like this I’ll remove the tail How many times have I filleted fish now? I’m actually doing something a bit difficult right now Taking the belly bones together, it’s troublesome This should be fine Alright, now that all the three-piece filleting is done, shall we tie them up? Let’s decide on the length I’ll tie them up with hemp string Ideally, having nets would be better for keeping insects away But we don’t have such things I am bringing hemp string, so it’s kind of bringing supplies If we didn’t have hemp string We could unravel rope lying around And use that, there’s tons of it lying around Alright, I’ll keep tying these up like this This is called a clove hitch, you know, this tying method This is OK, well this tying method The more force applied, the tighter it gets So if I hang it like this, it won’t fall Now let’s keep going Well, you can also do a clove hitch like this Make a loop like this, I guess around here is good Oh no, it ended up here This kind of thing, you know, it’s brute force When you tie it tight like this, it won’t fall When you get your boat license, you know, you learn this tying method All fishermen should be able to do this Anyone with a boat should be able to do it. Alright, let’s hang them up, let’s do this. Well, there’s no roof here, but Maybe it was just right for making dried fish This is silver-striped round herring The head of silver-striped round herring This one too I was thinking of grilling and eating it today But I got full, so overnight drying Well, I’ll probably dry it for about 2 days Surgeonfish was the most delicious fish this time. Alright, done Alright, so the preparation for overnight drying Is finished, so shall I sleep? After all, sugar is Only in the kelp And that kelp probably only contains trace amounts of sugar So my brain really isn’t working Well, but probably I think I’ve secured enough food for the remaining 2 days until the final day It’s an amazing amount This side has a roof too Alright, so Day 8 is finished Well honestly, I’ve really gotten used to it now Not being able to eat ramen Not being able to drink cold water, I’ve gotten used to it now Well, if I could I want to drink Coke I’m working hard now looking forward to that

00:20:48,410 –> 00:20:21,06,850
I wonder what I’ll do tomorrow. Good morning It’s day 9 It’s cold, really. I wake up about every hour because it’s too cold, so I can’t really recover from fatigue Today, tomorrow will be the final day, so Tomorrow night So I can have the best meal I’ll go ask around for various things The roof Has a bit of a gap here So I’m thinking of filling this gap Still, not having carbohydrates for 9 days is incredible. Even when I try to think, my head just doesn’t work at all halfway through. Amazing. Well, let’s work on making the roof. I feel kind of dizzy. Alright, let’s do this. By the 9th day, the saw has completely rusted and become too dull to cut. I’m going to cover this ceiling area now, but I don’t have materials this long anymore, so it can’t be helped. I’ll use small pieces and put them up bit by bit. So I’ll attach these four frame pieces like this, and then put up the small pieces one by one like this. The lack of wood materials really hurt in this survival challenge. If you’re going to survive, you should choose a location with abundant wood materials. Alright, the frame is done. From here, I’ll place the wood like this. Oh, this looks good! The length is perfect too. Alright, the roof is complete! For now, this completes the base. I’m hungry, so let’s have lunch. Alright, I’ll have surgeonfish today. Speaking of which, these white stones lying around here, these are probably limestone. So if you burn them at high temperature, they become like concrete, so if you work hard, building a concrete house isn’t just a dream. I don’t have that kind of skill, but there’s plenty of limestone. Let’s start cooking. But it’s hot today too. The temperature difference is tough. I’ve actually caught a cold. Look at this, the oil is glistening. Alright, it’s cooked. Let’s eat. Mmm. Surgeonfish is a fish that gives off quite a smell, so I thought it might be smelly after drying overnight, but not at all. The fat is more like beef than fish. It’s incredibly juicy. Thank you for the meal. Since I started catching fish, I can get protein and fat from the three major nutrients, but I’m still lacking sugar, so my brain doesn’t work at all and my body doesn’t move as I want. This time it’s 10 days, so I’m managing somehow, but if this continues, I think I’ll reach my limit around day 15. With this lifestyle, anyway, today I don’t have any more work to do. I think I’ll go get some tree fern roots, and if possible papaya, or bird’s nest fern, or tree ferns, or something like that I’m hoping there might be some edible wild vegetables around there, it would be nice if there are Well, it’s also for exploring It’s been a while, let’s go over there Alright, let’s go get some tree fern roots The tree fern roots are beyond two cliffs When the sun is out even just this would nearly kill you, but today was cloudy, so it was relatively easy How many times have I made round trips over this cliff to go get lumber It’s too much trouble to bring a tripod and stuff now so I don’t film videos, but I walk quite a bit The sea is really rough today It’s extremely rough If I went in, I’d probably die By the way, survival takes time for everything you do Yes, there were tree fern roots They’re also a source of sugar It’s called a tree fern root, so I think I’m getting a decent amount of sugar The roots are sweet when you eat them Yes, there was a big root Heave-ho, yes, got the root If it weren’t for the sheer cliffs like at my base they grow everywhere

00:25:50,140 –> 00:25:60,000
This one’s pretty impressive, heave-ho, ah, this one’s been eaten by bugs, alright, okay There are only 3 days left, so two should be enough Even if I take too many I can’t eat them all anyway Well, since I came all the way here let me look a bit more for something sugary or other ingredients Well, once I ate a plant called poison ivy and nearly died so I don’t really want to just munch on plants I only eat ones I know This is a papaya tree Papaya could be eaten like a vegetable stir-fry if it were unripe By the way, wild-growing ripe papayas smell incredibly bad This is a screw pine If the screw pine were ripe it would turn orange and taste like dried persimmons There’s hardly anywhere to eat, but since it’s not selling, I can’t eat it. The fruit system is totally no good. All the nut systems aren’t selling and aren’t ready. Whoa, there are beans. Whoa. Tons of bugs are swarming on them, which means they might be edible. Too many bugs are swarming on them. I’m not sure if these beans are edible, so I’ll try taking a bite. Ah, they seem edible, but I’m scared so I’ll spit it out. Alright, I came to the pond, but Hmm, there’s really nothing particularly edible here. It would be nice if there were some potatoes or something. Oh, I thought that was a lily. Lilies, you know, store tons of starch in their roots, called lily bulbs, and they’re quite a luxury ingredient that people eat. When you roast them, they become like potatoes. My heart was racing just now, but what I thought were lily leaves turned out to be dandelions. Too bad. Well, I’ll give up on sugar and try making some tea today. Well, I don’t think it’s really tea, I don’t think it’s regular tea, but I don’t think it’s regular tea, but this is Spanish needle. I think the official name is Bidens pilosa. These leaves are apparently edible. I’ll boil this and make tea today. I hope this makes good tea. Since this survival started, I haven’t had a proper flavored drink. Even just tea would make me a little happy. I don’t know if this will be delicious, but if it’s no good, I’ll just drink it as soup with some salt added. Today I’m thinking of taking some banana plant leaves back with me. In the Philippines and such, they often do that banana leaf steaming thing, right? I’m thinking of trying something like that. I wonder how it’ll be. I think it might be delicious since it’s been just salt-grilled all this time. So I’m planning to try adding some variety to the flavor. It’s a jungle. Whoa, there are clouds. I feel bad. Yes, this is a banana plant. It’s not a banana. Let’s go with small leaves. Big ones would be hard to carry back and aren’t necessary. I’ll take two back with me. Won’t tear. Got it. That was a really rough way of taking them, but yes, I got the leaves. With these, I’ll try making something like herb-grilled dried fish today. I’ve never actually made herb-grilled anything myself, so it’ll be by feel, but well, it should turn out to be an interesting flavor. Somehow I managed to get ingredients and make it back before sunset Ah, it’s already night now Honestly, I’ve been feeling unwell all day today I couldn’t really do much of anything Honestly, I don’t know why I’m feeling unwell Maybe I caught a cold because it was too cold while sleeping Or maybe I have some kind of infection Since I dove yesterday Maybe I used too much energy Well, I don’t know what it is, but Anyway, I’m feeling unwell For now, let’s try making grilled turnip Let’s peel the turnip That big one I’m thinking of using for tomorrow’s final meal Today I’ll use this one, let’s remove the roots first This part is hard to peel Ah, it fell off. Rough cutting is fine I’ll remove the stem Let’s peel the skin Let’s cut it into bite-sized pieces. Is this a bit too big? Well, it’s fine. For the fish, I’ll use the Parrotfish I prepared yesterday Let’s use the dried Parrotfish There’s no smell at all. It looks good It’s quite firmly dried Let’s cut it in half for now The skin is hard. The cross-section looks like this I’ll cut it into bite-sized pieces I’ll remove the bones just in case These are the belly bones. It’s easier to eat without bones I’ll also cut this into bite-sized pieces Now for today’s main feature – the banana leaf Let’s wrap it in this I wonder how to wrap it Let’s put the turnip on first For seasoning, the premium salt Let’s sprinkle this on Let’s place the Parrotfish on top of this. Isn’t this good? I’ll also put the premium salt on the Parrotfish Now how do I wrap it? Like this, right? It probably cracked, so I’ll tie it with string Wow, this is starting to look like a really fancy dish If I tie it too tightly, it won’t be good I probably need to steam it, though I’m not sure about that What should I do… I got it, I got it! I just had an idea – I’ll put this in a pot and cover it with sand on top, that should work But if I do it like this, it’ll get covered in sand So I’ll wrap it with another layer And then cover it with sand This one is bigger and nicer, I was planning to use it tomorrow but Well, can’t be helped This banana leaf is quite fragile Surprisingly, if we had a lid It would be perfect. There are overseas dishes cooked by burying in sand too, so this should be fine Alright then Let’s bury it in sand. Actually, we should put sand underneath too, definitely. Alright, let’s do it We probably need to cook it for about an hour I’m looking forward to it Wonder how it’ll turn out Yes, one hour has passed It’s probably done. Let’s dig it out I’m excited. I waited a whole hour for this So excited! Oh, looks good! The bottom is a bit burnt though Wow, I’m so excited! Trying to remove the sand as much as possible. Oh, the turnip is showing How does this look? Opening it up Wow! Wow wow wow wow! Looks great! There’s a bit of sand on it though Let’s eat it right away. It smells amazing! Wow, looks delicious! Here I go Mmm This is delicious! It’s properly steamed somehow It’s completely different from just grilling it normally The leaf flavor is in there too Delicious! This gives me energy. Wow The turnip is delicious too. You wouldn’t think this was made for survival It would be perfectly fine to serve this for breakfast So delicious. Up until now, grilling directly over charcoal or boiling in seawater gave it such a wild taste But this has an elegant flavor. Mmm, the turnip is especially delicious. There’s so much sand crunching around though At this point The sand doesn’t bother me anymore. Wow, I didn’t think this would work out so well on a whim. I’m moved It took so much time Making tea can wait until tomorrow This is the best. Wow, I’m still not satisfied After eating something refreshing, now I want something fatty Let’s eat the Nizadai Yes, this is the Nizadai Damn, it’s hard to gut with one hand. I want to eat some tomorrow too So let’s just use half of this If I remove around here, it should work. Cutting through the backbone One by one, bit by bit. Oh, what should I do? The skin is tough. The hard part won’t cut So I’ll bend it like this Removing the belly bones like this This is amazing, right? This white part here It’s all fat Should I remove the skin? Well, I don’t need to. Alright then Let’s skewer this Nizadai and grill it Where should I pierce it from? Alright, let’s start grilling then It’s really good to have a stockpile This is the best – I’m really looking forward to grilling like this during this survival The fire is a bit too strong though It’s burning! Uwah, so much oil is dripping, it’s all sizzling, it’s all oil! Uwah, the oil caught fire! Alright, it’s cooked It’s Nizadai (surgeonfish) It’s delicious but the flavor is mild, so it would be better to add some salt It’s delicious Somehow it seems tastier after drying it Well, when you dry it, the umami gets concentrated, you know Let’s peel the skin The skin peels off easily I wonder if you can eat the skin? Ah, no good As expected, the fat is kind of like beef Somehow Every time I eat this fish, the taste is different each time Man, that was delicious I felt the potential of Nizadai Well, today I wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t really do much It’s quite frustrating since it’s the day before the final day But I guess it can’t be helped Man, just one more day and it’s over Man, it’s been long Tomorrow I’ll spend one day and sleep And it ends at 10:10 AM I was thinking of going to the sea tonight But it’s really rough out there It would probably be dangerous if I went in So I’m going to sleep today I’m thinking of going to bed already Tomorrow is the final day Since it’s a special occasion, I want to go get something I want to eat What I want to eat is First, Magaki shellfish, third is octopus – the lighting is so bright I can’t see anything – I’ll make a stew with various dried fish I hope to create a dish that’s like the culmination of this survival experience Everyone might have forgotten But I also have Yakougai I’m thinking of eating the Yakougai as sashimi Oh right, I forgot – in the morning I’ll spend some elegant time with tea made from those sticky plants Yes, finally the 10th day, the final day Man, it’s been long. I’ll spend today And it ends tomorrow morning at 10:10 AM The first 5 days or so were incredibly tough But by around the 10th day I’ve gotten used to it and things have become quite stable Well, if I had to say I haven’t been able to get any sugar at all So my brain isn’t working well This sleeping place, you know This is sand, so It’s extremely cold and I almost die at night, which is pretty tough Today let’s make some tea, yes, so I’ll put in the rainwater Alright, let’s put it on the fire This is The leaves of American beggarticks that I gathered yesterday I’ll put this in to make tea I don’t know if it’ll work though I want to drink something other than water Pretty soon, so I’d like to drink something with flavor Wow, on the 10th day Finally I have the luxury of drinking tea in the morning I really want to drink sweet milk tea, but drinking something other than water gets me excited. Still, I’ve gotten quite bearded in 10 days It’s incredible. This is the first time I’ve grown it out for 10 days. Oh, it’s boiling up. Good, this should be fine Yes, here’s the tea It’s hot. There’s no particular flavor It’s hot water The usual taste. When you make hot water like this many times As expected The metallic taste from this pot has stopped coming out At first there was a really strong metallic taste A tremendous amount was leaching out But it’s disappearing with each use Well, but I feel like there’s still a faint taste It’s extremely weak tea Having the luxury to make this is what’s good Now after drinking tea Today I think I’ll go catch octopus and Magaki shells And then I’ll throw in all sorts of things Make a salt stew Have the ultimate luxury And finish up. I hope I can catch octopus. As for Magaki shells I can probably get those But octopus is a matter of luck Well, but putting it in like this Looks a bit stylish. No taste though Maybe I can get polyphenols or something? I don’t really know though And caffeine or something, I don’t know, maybe I can’t get it Well, now that the tea is ready Shall we have breakfast? Today I’ll eat dried Oplegnathus fasciatus. Yes, here’s the dried Oplegnathus fasciatus After a few days, it’s gotten quite dry indeed Today I’m thinking of going to catch octopus and Magaki shells Those guys are within reach, so You don’t need to worry about how long you can hold your breath or anything I’ll eat breakfast When diving deep You can’t dive well if you eat breakfast So I don’t eat, but I’ll spear them OK, let’s grill them, something like It feels like beef jerky Can’t we eat this raw as is? Today there’s just the right shade, yes, they’re grilled Ishigakidai overnight dried, hehe When you dry it, it gets quite dry, overnight is really the best When eating this I need tea, yeah, somehow I feel like I can taste tea already, yeah, tea, there wasn’t enough tea leaves Since there’s a slight flavor I think the taste is probably coming out The skin side Is still watery It’s delicious, with big Ishigakidai The skin was tough and wouldn’t come off But the small ones are normally delicious, amazing It has texture and there’s oil in the skin, so somehow It’s like delicious gum Delicious gum, like hormone It’s a bit different though Well then, thank you for the meal Man, it’s incredibly hot right now but there doesn’t seem to be much water I don’t know if I’ve adapted to it, but I hardly sweat anymore On the first day, I would have been sweating like crazy Drinking such hot tea and eating such hot food Being under such blazing sun I would have sweated tremendously, but I don’t anymore It’s strange. So Today we’re going to catch octopus and magaki conch Let’s go get them Well, the sea was quite rough, but It’s shallow water, so I think it’ll probably be okay. Hope we can catch some Well then, let’s go Now, heading out to the sea The magaki conch and octopus we’re targeting this time aren’t in deep places like where we’ve been diving before They’re in quite shallow places like this I immediately found our target ingredient, magaki conch I can easily catch them with bare hands like this They’re buried in the sand Sometimes I can’t find them at all, but Today quite a number of them were out Lucky After picking up about 10, I’ll start looking for octopus There was an incredibly huge octopus I’ll immediately stick the hand spear in When you stick the hand spear in, the octopus panics and comes out Judging from the suckers It’s quite a size However, this octopus won’t come out easily, so I couldn’t wait and couldn’t help but stick my hand in I pull with all my might but it won’t come out at all I continue stabbing with the hand spear Finally one leg came out It’s quite long Once it comes out of the hole, the octopus will flee at tremendous speed I’m doing quite careful work right now Two legs came out I couldn’t help but touch it, but It retreated because of that I continue stabbing It came out again This time, the moment the head comes out I’m planning to grab the head It’s coming out quite a bit I grabbed the head But the opponent is also quite strong I can’t pull it out at all Once it comes to this, it’s a contest of strength On the 10th day of survival, with little stamina left, I’m getting out of breath I’m pulling with all my strength but there’s no sign of it coming out at all The octopus couldn’t bear it and started spitting ink The deadlock continues One leg is also coming out from the opposite hole Just how big is this thing? I wanted to capture it alive but… I decided to tear out its organs directly If I tear out the organs the octopus will eventually exhaust itself I did it! It’s a large blue-ringed octopus This is the creature I’ve been pursuing throughout my survival life. I was so happy that I decided to eat it right away This is no joke It was really delicious It was incredibly delicious! It was the best! Now that we’ve caught the ultimate ingredient, let’s head back to base and cook it Oh man, this is the best! This is the first time I’ve caught such a huge octopus This is too amazing. I’ll keep the shells alive for now and just take out the octopus Wow, so big. This is the turban shell I kept alive For things like this they’ll be fine if I just throw them around here It’s really huge. Look at this! This is one meter long including the tentip tips This is really heavy – probably 3 to 4 kilograms. This is amazing! I’m so incredibly happy. By the way, this octopus is a blue-ringed octopus The one I caught on day 2 or 3 was a different species called a striped octopus This is a blue-ringed octopus I’ve only caught octopus once or twice myself Honestly, I thought I probably wouldn’t catch one, but I did I’m really lucky. And it’s an extra-large size You rarely see ones like this Amazing! And since it’s still fresh, you can see these patterns moving Man, I’m really lucky this time, incredibly happy. I’m in the mood to extend this by one more day I won’t do it though Well, shall we start preparing it? Octopus is slimy so you do salt rubbing to remove the slime with salt but I don’t have salt so I’ll try to remove the slime with sand I think it should work. Wow, it feels wasteful to remove the slime from this with sand I’d better have gloves. It’s coming off The slime is coming off quite well Look, most of the slime is gone. You probably can’t tell by looking, but it looks good. Should I wash it? Well, shall we have lunch right away? It’s about 1 o’clock now so it’s perfect timing Wow, I’m so happy. I thought I definitely wouldn’t catch an octopus I was targeting blue-ringed octopus and probably wouldn’t catch one If I dive for about 3 hours during the day and that doesn’t work, I’ll dive for about 3 hours at night to catch an octopus and eat it, that’s what I thought, but surprisingly, this guy! Let’s eat it! Let’s have one leg! The legs are so long! Delicious! This is incredibly delicious! So good! Should I cut it a bit? It’s too chewy as expected, so I’ll eat only the thin parts as sashimi. The thick parts, let’s grill and eat them! This must be the best! I’d love to put sesame oil and salt on this, but it’s delicious enough as is. It really has a strong octopus flavor. Well, since I have it, let me add some salt. Here’s some premium salt! Amazing! The best final day! Now then, let’s grill these tentacles next. Probably if I grill this whole thing, it’ll be tough, so I’ll cut it into pieces. I want to make takoyaki! Yes! Well then, with this octopus sashimi… I want to make takoyaki! I want to eat that rich sauce flavor and bonito flakes combination! I want to wash it down with cola! But this is definitely delicious too! Isn’t this too luxurious? It’s so big! This alone is good! Let’s grill it! Looks delicious! It’s been a while since I ate octopus! I can’t usually catch them. It’s truly a miracle! For real! Alright, let’s grill it! During the day, I can’t really see if the fire is lit or not. Octopus grilling! Yes, it’s cooked! Perfect! Looks hot! Is it okay? What’s this? This delicious! The dish is delicious! It’s finished with a bit of a smoky flavor, and that aroma is good, the octopus umami is good, the texture is good, and it’s even sweet! So delicious! I can’t finish all this quantity, so I’ll take this home! I’ll take it home and eat it again! This is incredibly delicious! Just incredibly good! Yeah, I wanted to eat octopus on the final day! I’m so happy! The thick parts should definitely be cut! I can’t bite through them! Delicious! Too amazing! Octopus is mostly protein, so it’s perfect for dieting. Though I want to gain weight right now, it’s still perfect for dieting. But octopus is expensive! If you buy it at a supermarket, it’s about 3000 yen per kilo, right? If today’s catch is 3 kilos of domestic octopus, it would cost 9000 yen to buy! I don’t know though, I don’t really buy octopus, so I could keep eating this forever! I want to make this into karaage! I’ll take the octopus home tomorrow and make karaage! Yeah! That was the best lunch! I’ll preserve the octopus until dinner, and I think I’ll just hang it up for now. There are flies and such, but it won’t spoil, at least until evening. It definitely won’t spoil. Oh no, it’s so long that my legs touch the ground. That’s fine though. Now, I’d like to start cooking, but we’ve used up almost all the firewood in this area, so I’m going to collect some. Well, after 10 days in the same place, the firewood runs out, you know. The snow disappears. Incomparably more than during the day, the sea is rough. Oh no, it’s incredibly rough, whoa. Damn, it’s extremely high tide. I’m definitely going to get wet. Ah, I got wet. This is the worst. It’s never been this high before. Until now, well, just a bit. Thick ones are better, right? Thin ones burn out quickly, and thick ones don’t burn at all, so I wonder what kind of tree this is. It’s really big. It’s been eaten by insects too. This size is probably best. This one’s good too. It’s like a cutting board wood. Well, this should be enough. Now let’s wait for it to boil. No good. The wind is too strong and the fire keeps getting blown away, so the water won’t boil at all. But finally, I think it’s reached about 80 degrees. Some bubbles are starting to appear. The fire is really getting blown away. Well, let’s just put the octopus in. Whoa, it’s huge! Will it fit? Here we go. Eh, it still won’t fit completely. Here we go! It’s huge! The pot is completely packed. Really, in the pot. It’s just the right size. So huge. I’m looking forward to the boiled octopus too. I wonder if it can be boiled quickly. This will probably take time. About 20 minutes, I think. Oh, it looks good. But I don’t have anything to flip it with, so I’ll use my bare hands. Oh, nice red color. It’s hot. It’s turned the perfect red color. Man, it’s really huge. Oh no, it’s about to overflow. Will it overflow? Will it overflow? It’s overflowing! It’s going to overflow! It overflowed! But the fire’s intensity doesn’t stop. It’s going to overflow again! Is it okay? I think it’s about ready now. It should be good. Heave-ho. Done! Isn’t it huge? Seriously, this is super huge. Look, hot hot hot. It’s ridiculously huge. So, I’m going to eat it. It’s perfect. Since this is the last dish, let’s go all out luxuriously. With the best dish, let’s finish this off. Alright, so let’s prepare the last dish, octopus and seaweed soup. First, let’s start with the stock. Man, this stock has really saved me throughout these 10 days. The seaweed that really played a good role is the finest ingredient Among them, the seaweed we’re using today has the best shape Everyone too when you go to the coast try looking for some It’s seriously growing almost everywhere Well, this is seaweed, but there’s something called beach radish growing there Beach radish also has a similar appearance Beach radish is spicy, incredibly spicy That’s about three times spicier than regular radish I think. This seaweed is also quite spicy. If you eat it raw, it’s considerably spicy. So spicy it hurts when you go to the bathroom, really On the first day or second day, I ate so much of it, it was painful Well then, let’s cut it into bite-sized pieces This is seriously impressive By the way, if you eat this kind of thing in summer the core becomes incredibly hard and inedible So the ingredients go into this bowl It’s a fishing gear part They’re scattered everywhere We use them to collect rainwater Incredibly convenient. Yes, next is octopus Since we have a lot let’s use one leg’s worth today The rest I’m taking home. Such a magnificent octopus is hard to catch so I’ll eat it slowly at home. Since bacteria breed some people say it’s better to throw away the tips, but if you grill it, you can eat it. Ah, delicious. Mm, it’s incredibly tasty

00:15:49,730 –> 00:15:16:15,630
I might like these tips the most. Well, let’s cut it up It won’t stop. The remaining octopus I’ll dry and take home tomorrow I want to eat it as karaage and takoyaki Yeah, I’ll dry it and take it home The taste probably won’t change much I’m looking forward to it For the fish we’re using Oplegnathus fasciatus dried overnight and Oplegnathus fasciatus head and silver wrasse head We’ll use these After all, the bones produce broth so we’ll mainly use heads and such Well, as for the others, they can be eaten as overnight-dried fish so I’ll take them home and eat them Also going in here is horse conch Yes, this one here Magaki-gai and Yako-gai, right? Should I put the Yako-gai in too? Look how big it is! It’s way bigger than the ones from day 6 And this here is Magaki-gai I’ll put this in too Now let’s shell the Yako-gai – can I shell it? With this small knife I’m supposed to shell it, but This survival knife has terrible sharpness so I don’t know if it’ll cut, but let’s try it Tilt it like this Use gravity to get it out a bit – yes, got it! But there’s still some left here For this, I put my hand deep inside to get it Then it comes out The tip part of the liver This is said to be the most delicious part Let’s put this in the soup too – this much should be delicious, yes Then I’ll cut it This lid is really stuck on, so I’ll remove it And if you polish this lid It becomes a really nice decorative item For sashimi, eat this white adductor muscle part And this Green part The part that sticks to rocks is quite hard, so let’s use it for soup. And here There’s a mouth, so let’s remove it The mouth has a bad texture Well, for soup and sashimi Let’s cut it into just the right size pieces There’s quite a lot, right? This part Is quite hard even when eaten as sashimi This part looks soft – no It looks hard – yes, putting it in This completes the ingredients for the salt soup Everything’s gathered Can I eat some sashimi? Not this part around here Let’s put this in the salt soup This part is really delicious – soft and it’s an adductor muscle Where are you looking? At the camera! Here I go! Wow, delicious! Wow! I can’t stop eating this Yako-gai sashimi – the adductor muscle is the most delicious! Wow, irresistible! Delicious! I really can’t stop Too delicious! Wow, incredibly delicious! Wow – what am I saying? Well then, everything is packed into these ingredients – let’s put them in seawater and simmer them It was a long challenge Now, now, let’s put them in Wow, so luxurious! So much! I can see turnips everywhere. Well then, let’s set it up. This is the culmination of this journey. If I leave it like this, it’ll definitely be too salty, so I’ll add some rainwater to this. Ah, I’m really looking forward to this. What kind of taste will it have? It’s starting to boil a bit, so let me taste it. I need to check the flavor. Here I go, here I go. The taste is weak. Let’s add seawater. It’s surprisingly bland. I’ll add seawater. Yes, this looks good. Well then, let’s have our last dinner. Yes, it’s octopus. The cooking method makes such a difference in taste. The fish’s umami is really packed in there. Delicious! The turnips are absolutely perfect! Wow! The turnips are delicious! It’s not an exaggeration to say they were the most useful thing in this survival. Turnips provide hydration and you can get sugar from them too. They’re the best. Yes, this is turban shell. Mmm, the turban shell is also delicious. The turban shell liver is fluffy. Next is the parrotfish. The impact of the parrotfish on day 6 was incredible. When I hadn’t eaten anything and then got that parrotfish. Hmm, there’s not much meat. But the parrotfish is still delicious. And now for the silver sweetlips. They’re not normally in places like that, but I miraculously caught one. Silver sweetlips. Silver sweetlips. Somehow, when you boil them with salt, everything becomes a gentle flavor. It’s just right for concluding everything. With a gentle taste. And this one looks like a cone shell, but it’s a shell called magaki shell. Normally you need to purge the mud for about 3 days before eating, or it’ll be gritty, but I don’t care about that. It won’t crack, damn it. Yes, it cracked. Like this, it peels off smoothly. I really love this. This is the best. This one’s already coming out. My fingernails are hot from the start, seriously. The second one. This shell is delicious – the liver is sweet. Delicious. Let’s also eat the turban shell sashimi. Delicious, delicious. Well then, thank you for the meal. Ah, I’m completely full now. I’m savoring the joy of being full for the first time in a while Well, it’s already over. Honestly, during the first 5 days without free diving, I was in quite an extreme state, but once free diving was allowed, it felt like “that’s about it” It felt like a slightly hard camping experience. Now I just need to sleep and wait for the end time Man, today was a good day I never thought I could catch such an octopus It was really good, it was the best So, the last night of the 10-day survival is about to end Right. What’s surprising is, look at the time It’s 7:54 I wonder what everyone else in the world is doing now Watching TV, or maybe many people are still working But honestly, there’s nothing left to do. If the sea wasn’t so rough, I would go into the sea and try to get some more interesting footage, but if I go into that sea, I’ll die, so I can’t do anything Well, I have enough food too, so it’s bedtime on the last night Well, I’m quite a long sleeper, so if I wanted to sleep for 14 hours, I could totally do it, so no problem I’ll sleep from now until tomorrow at 10 o’clock, I’ll probably sleep until 10. Man, it was long Well then everyone, good night. Good morning Finally, only 2 hours left Man, just a little more. For now, I think I’ll pack my things Well, filming packing footage isn’t interesting, so I’ll pack on my own My hands are… what is this They smell so much like charcoal that no matter how much I wash them with seawater, the smell won’t come off They smell all the time. Let me pack Alright, let’s take these dried fish home This octopus is really big. When I get home with this octopus, I’ll freeze it and keep it Okay, the long 10-day survival life has come down to the last 20 minutes I really want to say something cool here, but I have absolutely no sugar in me, so my head isn’t working at all But after living this tough life this time, well, it was hard, but I realized there are many things you can’t see when you’re satisfied Well, from now on, I feel like I’ll be able to appreciate various things even more Well, even just lighting a fire is so difficult Well, not being able to start a fire by myself this time is honestly my biggest regret, but starting a fire is hard, and drinking cold water is amazing, and eating food too It’s really amazing, we should be grateful for this Well, but this time we did so many different things I think it’s amazing that we didn’t get food poisoning Surprisingly, we can manage somehow We even drank water with mosquito larvae in it And used cutting boards that were lying around I think we were pretty reckless, but we were fine I wonder what it is, maybe it’s a matter of willpower I don’t know though Yes, we have 10 minutes left 10 more minutes, yes, 3 minutes remaining 1 minute left Let’s count down when it gets to 10 seconds Just a bit more, it was long, did it pass?

00:26:26,600 –> 00:26:08,800
Let’s go from 5 seconds, 5-4-3-2-1, finished! It’s finished Alright, let’s go home, alright, let’s go home, wow, it was long It’s finally over Now, we’re going to go eat, that’s what we’re doing For now, it’s decided that I’ll order cola, I’ll order cola If we go like this as we are We might cause trouble for the restaurant So I’ll take a shower first And then we’ll go from there We’ve arrived, let’s order cola first First cola, this is Saigo Shokudo that always takes care of us For now, I just ordered cola 1.5 liters? Surprisingly 1.5 liters, they prepared 5 liters of cola for us Wow, this is delicious This is incredible, this is incredibly delicious, cola, cola is delicious, so delicious, hehehe, what should I choose from the menu? Well, fried chicken set meal Well, I’d like to try the lobster A course too But right now I want to eat fried chicken Wow, the fried shrimp set meal is tempting too, but They guided us to a really spacious place A table for 6 people, well, I’ll have the fried chicken Chicken, fried chicken set meal please It’s here Well then, let’s eat! Wow, it’s been a while since I had fried food And the tofu makes me happy Well everyone, thank you for watching the video for 4 hours Thank you This video took 2 months of preparation 10 days of filming and 50 days of editing I’ve packed everything I’ve condensed it all tightly Well, how was it? Well, what should we do next?
