Why Is Everyone Mad At Shokotan About the Switch 2?

Recently, the resale of products at high prices has become a hot topic, especially on social media. There’s been a lot of debate over the problems of people known as 10 buyers buying up products with high demand and selling them at high prices on flea market sites and auction sites. Particularly noteworthy are the resales of the new Nintendo Switch 2, a game console that Nintendo just released on June 5th, 2025. Currently, the Nintendo Switch 2 is being sold by lottery due to high demand, and only those who win the lottery issued by the Nintendo official website or various mass retailers can purchase the product. While many people have yet to purchase the console, the Switch 2 was traded at high prices on flea market sites from the day of its release. Many ex users were upset by this situation. There were a series of angry comments such as, “I can’t accept that people who just want to enjoy games can’t play on the Switch, too, because of the 10 buyers. It’s unfair that those who resell games won the lottery. Don’t buy resold items. Report the 10 by ears. Meanwhile, suspicions have emerged that Japanese entertainer Shoko Nakagawa, also known as Shokotan, may have purchased Nintendo Switch 2 from a 10 buyer, causing a stir on social media. It all started on June 8th when Nakagawa posted a video on her YouTube channel titled I Got, Unboxed, and Played My Long Awaited Switch 2. The video showed Nakagawa unboxing the Switch 2 wrapped in cushioning material, and Nakagawa was excited, perhaps because she was so happy. However, at this point, the comment section was filled with doubts with comments such as official website and electronic store style wrapped the bubble wraply with tape do. Did you buy it from a 10 buyer? Then when the tape was removed from the bubble wrap and the box containing the main unit was taken out, something like a receipt was seen coming out of the bubble wrap. Also, normally you have to press and hold the button to turn the device on, but the video showed the device being turned on when it was taken out of the box. In response, many people have raised doubts that this is quote not a legitimate lottery purchase. With comments such as, “The purchase receipt is inside a plastic envelope and packed inside cushioning material, so it’s almost certainly from Mercury.” Oh, with that personality of yours, if you really won the lottery, wouldn’t you post about it on social media as soon as you received the winning notification? This is a video of someone receiving the Switch 2 from the official Nintendo web store. You can see that the bubble wrap is not tightly taped. From this picture, it’s highly possible that Nakagawa’s Switch 2 was purchased at a Yamada Deni store. To make it even weirder, Nakagawa also bought another copy of Mario Kart World from a big camera store, even though her Switch 2 is a bundle box that already includes Mario Kart World. She stated that she had not unwrapped the cushioning material before filming the video, so she didn’t realize it’s a bundle box. In response to the accusations on June 15th, Nakagawa posted on her ex account. I didn’t want to touch on this because it’s sad that people are making assumptions and saying all sorts of things, but I definitely didn’t buy the Switch 2 from a flea market site or a 10 buyer. I’m sad that so much has been said based on completely wrong information, denying that she had bought it from a 10 buyer. Then she disabled the comment section of the video. In the past, when Nakagala found some of her goods being resold, she angrily complained, “Stop it!” She also criticized the resale of Switch 2 during her appearance on TV show Hirobe. Moreover, Nintendo has also been putting a lot of effort into preventing resales of the Switch 2, taking strict measures such as banning Nintendo accounts if wrongdoing is discovered. When a reporter inquired with Nakagawa’s agency, they replied, “The game console in question was purchased by Nakagawa’s friend in a lottery at a major electronics retailer and given to her as a gift to celebrate her pregnancy.” She deeply regret causing a misunderstanding by shouting, “I bought it!” at the beginning of the video. Some people on social media have accused her of purchasing it from a so-called 10 buyer. But the truth is her friend enclosed a warranty and receipt with the box and she certainly did not purchase it from a flea market site or from a high-priced reseller. We again apologize for causing a stir. Here are some comments from the netzens in response to this statement. If it were a gift, wouldn’t you wrap it in a colorful wrapping paper with a ribbon instead of a bubble wrap? What a thoughtful friend who tested the gift first before giving it to her. But why didn’t such a friend tell her that is a Mario Kart world set? Even if what her agency said were true, claiming that she bought something her friend actually gave her is problematic enough. Do you normally open the box of something you bought as a present before giving it to someone?

The discussion around reselling products, especially the Nintendo Switch 2, has become a hot topic. Meanwhile, Japanese TV Star Shoko Nakagawa has come under fire on social media because of the Switch 2.
