[Redevelopment of Fukuoka] Fukuoka Civic Hall opened in 1963. Until the completion of Fukuoka Sunpalace, it was used as the largest hall in Fukuoka City. The seating is one-tiered, sloped, with a capacity of 1,770 seats. It is a circular, one-floor hall, with a structure that allows the audience to experience a sense of unity with the stage. There is also a small hall with 354 seats. However, due to the aging of the building, Fukuoka City plans to open a new cultural facility, Fukuoka Civic Hall (large hall with 2,000 seats, medium hall with 800 seats), on March 28, 2025. The total cost of demolition and construction of Fukuoka Civic Hall is estimated to be 25.2 billion yen.
