　11月19日、大晦日の恒例特番『第75回NHK紅白歌合戦』の出場者が発表されたが、期待されていた大物及び人気アーティストの出場がなく、SNSには落胆や失望する声が多数寄せられている。
　かねてより内定と報じられていた俳優・菅田将暉（31）の実弟であるこっちのけんと（28）、Number_i、ILLIT、ME:I、Da-iCE、新浜レオン（28）、TOMORROW X TOGETHERが初出場を決めたほか、Creepy Nuts、Omoinotakeも初出場となった。しかし、出場が有力視されていたB’zと中森明菜（59）の名前はなかった。 　今年の司会を務めるのは有吉弘行（50）、伊藤沙莉（30）、橋本環奈（25）。そのため、橋本がヒロインを務めているNHK連続テレビ小説『おむすび』の主題歌『イルミネーション』を手掛けるB‘zが初出場すると報じるメディアが多々あった。 　また、NHKは10月以降、明菜を特集する番組を連続して放送していたこともあり、10年ぶりの出場があるのではないかと多くのファンがザワついていた。
