歴史的背景
1958（昭和33）年福岡市の都市計画として、天神地区地下道構想の始まりは、天神地区の交通渋滞対策が目的で、竹中工務店が地下道の青写真を作製したことに端を発しています。当時の広告代理店の関係者の話によると、担当者がヨーロッパに視察に行き、独自に計画から設計まで手がけ実に画期的なものでした。
