My name is Chrome i have been living in y cargo van for 6 years now. I started this lifestyle BROKE and IN DEBT and after 11 months of living the van life i cleared my debt and started to put my life back together and build for a better future. I have turned my original van into a badass camper van that is lifted with all the toys. Over the years i went from being broke and stealth camping in the city and sleeping at walmarts… to now, living fulltime in a jacked up van and driving deep off-grid into the backcountry and living life in the dirt. WOW LIFE HAS CHANGED.
I now have a shop space to keep me busy through the winters here on Canada’s westcoast. Went from Van Life to VAN LIFE + SHOP LIFE !!!!!! Come join this crazy van life journey of mine. HIT SUBSCRIBE, trust me its gonna be a WILD RIDE.

I think you're thoughts on the heated floor are correct – save the dough and take a trip to Oaxaca . . .
In the last Video you chop the fire wood to small if you leave them bigger the will burn longer. It's like throwing kindling on kindling. Just sayin. Love the snow by the lake.
That's funny you talk about buying a load of wood that's exactly what I do for camping it's a ton cheaper buying a cord instead of gas station wood
I love that lake me and Shawn used to fish there all the time 😢
It’s very cool 😎 to watch the process of the new van build so many options and I’m glad you have the opportunity to do it, I’m wondering if you have seen the happy jack beds that let you have a ready made bed and a huge amount of couch and table area? Just ine more idea lol . Have fun 🤩
Ordered the Joolca toilet last week. It’ll be a bittersweet day when I retire my bucket.
but the shop is a part of your life and we have enjoyed watching it grow as a part of your life!! You don't need a separate channel, why make more work for your self.
If you have made it this long without heated floors yea just go with the insulation I agree
What about a portable heated floor system that you could use for the winter. I'm sure they are put there.
Crome, one of the best a builds I’ve ever seen for comfort, room, storage and good sense layout is Snow and Curt’s. They have also been living full time in their van for 6 years…traveling the world. They are preparing to go into Africa now and have just beefed up some of their important proponents. They have two cats that they travel with so they also understand the importance of having it pet friendly too. Check them out, their layout is not just beautiful but makes so much sense too.
IN FLOOR HEATING – I make you good deal ! I'm removing a complete (delux) system from Sprinter 170 i bought in Fairbanks Alaska. I live in Arizona now and don't need it. So I'm taking it out. It's yours for $2,500 US . I just don't know how best to reach you?
✌️✌️
How about a small chainsaw for firewood? You could have bought 20 to 50 chainsaws by now with the cost of the bundled firewood you have bought. You live in BC !!
Chrome you need to check out Advanced RV and Humble Road. ARV specialized in custom sprinter vans and Humble Road also does cc custom. For ideas
and it would be way nicer if you didn't have that music on.
Even 2-3 electric pads under the floor.. used sparingly, shouldn't be too bad on the batteries
WHEN YOU'RE DOING YOUR LAYOUT, REMEMBER TO DO YOUR HEATING AIR FLOW THROUGH THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF YOUR VAN THAT REQUIRE HEAT. FOR EXAMPLE, YOUR WATER, BATTERY, GREY TANK, BLACK TANK, AND EVEN YOUR HEATER, SHOULD HAVE THE HEAT FLOWING THROUGH IT SO THESE COMPONENTS DON'T FREEZE. THEY SHOULD ALSO HAVE THE AIR CONDITIONING FLOWING THROUGH IT SO THAT THEY DON'T OVER HEAT. IE BATTERY OVER HEATING.
AND DO HEATED FLOORING!
Beginning for money got to love YouTube better then standing on the stand thank gods people watch this nonsense good luck friend keep Beginning along.
Left tail light out or just make it brighter ✨️
I love my heated floor i our sprinter and it wasnt expensive. I uswd a elec heat strip off amazon and the matching thermostat. Heated aboht a 2'x6' area..the main walkway.. and it actualy will heat the van down to about 30F. Super easy to install. Kust lay it out kn the shbfloor. Tape it in place on the corners..run the wires to the thermostat in the wall and lay appropriate laminate flooring over it. Best few hundred buck ive spent..and our cats love it too.
No heated floor too much to hassle imagine it stop working or it takes too much power draw etcs I kinda like the sink next to the fresh water tank on same side easy access to water lines it kinda flows together as you open the sliding door u can use that sink as a view and possible a shower next to the sink of ur sliding door julka shower hook up to adaptor to the sink faucet etcs and battery on the back side next to your bed on the other side and then closet or dresser slah couch mode or whatever lol
So happy you are eating salad…fast foods will end up to bad health…please realise it's because we care about you…anyway can't wait for the merk to get done…take care
Chrome , check out Lost Highway Customs in So Cal .. Brett makes some sikkkk parts and cabinets
I'd forget the heated floor. 😊
What about a kennel under your bed for Cruzy, opening into your van ofcourse. It appears to be great in other vans I have seen.
heated floors ? use the engine wabasto coolant heater for engines to heat glycol and water run through 3/8 or 1/2 inch polly pipe in the floor insulation easy peasy no big electrical load and a wam floor or valve it off to keep the engine warm on cold mornings its a simple thing to do!
I’ve watched you every day for years and I don’t know the attraction but I have the shop has not changed the channel the old shop or the new shop. It’s the adjustment in your life and it all has to deal with your van a separate channel for the toys isn’t a bad idea now
Would heated floors help with moisture control?
Blue tape where you want where on the floor and you can get an idea of space. ❤
Check out Snow and Curt’s layout. It’s freaking epic.
WOOD STOVE GAME CHANGER
Do heated floors!
I'd be tempted to avoid fabric if possible. Even with decent ventilation you inevitably generate humidity – moist air – when living full-time in a van. And fabric inevitably will wick-up some of that moisture, with back mould a risk anywhere where air is stagnant (between the fabric and any vapour layer, etc). Others might disagree, but proofed timber is better I think.
Check out Liam the terrible he a van lifer turned van builder here in england
Batteties between wheel wells. Weight distribution and warmer than side wall area😊
Wish I had heated floors in my sprinter. I could if I wasnt 6 ft 4 lol
Congratulations Chrome, and I will sub to the new channel.✌️
Is it hot water in floor that runs from solar heater that you are considering ? Does the hot water also help for showers? Is it all in one like rvs? How many hours does the diesel go before it overheats or runs out? Can it heat twelve hours what is the cost per day ? Is it less expensive than the split heaters on solar or would they cost more? Are you putting diesel heat in new van or changing it ? If staying diesel are you designing so you have five feet clearance with metal surround so its safer?
Who are your "backers" that suddenly want to separate it out care to elaborate?
An opinion: NO! Wait! Don't do it!
A wood stove does not fit the Chrome-Cruze lifestyle at all.
Diesel air heat plus electric floor heat powered by battery/solar plus shore ability is more practical.
Chrome, carpeted wall is a fantastic idea if you get a fabric that is like loop like in hook and loop Velcro you will infinite places to store stuff like Velcro pockets anywhere you want and be able to move the around very easy.
What about utilizing a CAD program to plan your layout??? 🤔🤔🤔
I looked at Yacht layouts and micro-apartments for my rig to utilize all the space. 🤔🤔🤔
Personally, I've liked one channel, requiring no hopping around.
Personal life (seeing how other people live) is always interesting to me.
I probably could have liked having one channel, alternating days, and having more accurately identifying titles so I could pick the stuff I want to watch.
Until now, I've checked in & liked on most days, but depending on my schedule and the mood I was in at the time, I've stayed and watched what I wanted, when I wanted.
Sometimes shop talk's good, sometimes out in the wild works perfectly, sometimes off-roading provides need excitement.
Lol as long as we don’t miss out on the toilet….
I sure hope the tariffs don’t hurt your new business!
