California’s Vehicle Powers Are Under ATTACK With Trump’s Latest Move
This is exciting to see. The Trump administration has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to pause its review of a case involving California’s stricter vehicle emissions and electric vehicle standards. This would mandate electric cars and remove gas powered vehicles. Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris filed the request on Friday, January 24, signaling plans to reassess a 2022 Environmental Protection Agency decision that reinstated California’s authority to set its own emissions rules.
The new powers would allow California to change the rules for the entire US. California was given more powers under the Obama Administration and the Biden gave California for regulatory control in 2022. This is unconstitutional, one state cannot create laws for the other 49 states. However, these powers WERE given to one state. I’ll tell you more.

They don't make cars in America that people want anymore. Electric or otherwise. We don't want cars that can only be repaired by the dealer who has no incentive to repair when they have every incentive to try to sell you a new one. Designed in obsolescence.
The automakers should band together and just refuse to build vehicles to California standards. After a few years of not being able to buy new vehicles, angry residents would either get their legislators to change the laws or vote in people who would. Previously there was no incentive because meeting stricter regulations for internal combustion engines made bigger proffits for manufacturers, but with EVs being grossly unproffitable, it seems this might be a viable plan…

I will never again vote for a politician that tries to take away or limit my right to own a gas-powered car of any vintage or who votes for any restrictions or policies that make owning or operating vehicles more expensive.
I'd like to see the law clearly require that vehicle sales in a state to reflect the cost of manufacturing them for that state. California would not longer dictate vehicle standards across the country. Californians would pay a health surcharge to have vehicles specially manufactured for their standards. The rest of us would not have to subsidize California's follies.

California "did" need to do something about vehicle emissions in the 70s as the smog was terrible. But the state has now taken things too far and is likely going to forever lose the ability to self-regulate its own emissions.

Wow that's crazy I never knew this I'm a personal watercraft technician and we have California emissions standards on some they'll have like Cadillac converters and all the other watercraft made outside of California do not have them so with that being said I think you're totally correct every state should be able to have different emissions standards and there should be like an add-on thing like what they do for watercraft for outside of California and inside of California
I vote Blue but CA is so damn corrupt. Yes the air is far better then it used to be but I finally after 65 years went to the PNY. Last straw was a 6 raise year by PGE. $650 bill for a 1500 sqf home in N CA. Western WA 3300 sqf 2.5 acres same price avg electric bill 350.

We need to get rid of carb here california it ridiculous to smog cars pre 1990 you don't see them in the streets or on the highway and vintage cars even less newer cars from the factory are very clean and can be even cleaner
Are you aware our power grid as it is can not support electric cars at this time in our history.Sure wish politicians would due diligence before making laws that are way before there time.Don’t even go to water issues which you know nothing about and were partly responsible for the fires we have been having!
